I appreciate the joke. They did everything people have been asking them to do to make the game friendly, and some of the things people have been complaining about for a long time, and I mean EVERYTHING. Even the most outlandish suggestion, and then added a whole bunch of their own stuff to make it even more friendly, to the point where it makes you want to scream. Well done Mojang, well done.

This is because the needle is pointing to your world spawnpoint, not north. The compass was originally added because it's really easy to lose your world spawn.

You can still orientate yourself thinking of your spawn as the center, going out.

You can always just ignore him. Just don't look at his head and eventually he'll wander off.

To stop them from spawning inside your house, you'll need to increase the light levels. It's also possible that he spawned outside and teleported in though. Don't worry too much, it's just one enderman.

I personally think it'd be more useful if compasses pointed back to your last used bed. Especially since, unless you've moved your world spawn, all you have to do is head back to 0 0.
