Like I said, I honestly don't have any idea how to even start/code. Its like trying to find a specific spot in the Amazon, without a map!
So I've got the block itself that would form the frame. How would I go about making the location list? Would the player tick event be its own class, or something I can tack on to the portal stone block? Would the multiblock portal itself be its own class?
I don't know if i looked hard enough, but I'm not quite finding code bits that mine should somewhat resemble, in whatever weird Frankenstein way I'm piecing things together.

I'm new to the whole mod scene, and honestly don't know a lick of Java, but I've got it down on how to add in new items and blocks, and everything runs nice and smooth. But, the complex things might take a bit more effort. Seeing as I don't know what all I'm doing, I've come to the conclusion I need to ask for help, and this is already an awesome community, so lets see how this goes! As I have a lot of neat little ideas, I'm going to be asking questions one at a time.
First off, Probably the second most complicated piece to what I'm working on, is going to be an overworld portal system. The idea is to build two different 5 x 5 frames out of a modded block, with the center piece of each side being something the player inputs as a "Keystone". The second portal would be build into the ceiling, with the same keystone controlling it. If someone tries to build a second portal using that combination, the keystones would gain gravity and drop out of place, rejecting them in the process. The general idea is that a player would jump in one portal, and continue falling out of the second one.
Was wondering how I would even start with setting this up. To any that help, I'll give all kinds of thanks!

Anyway, On to the show! I often find myself with some pretty interesting and neat Mod ideas. Some of them, maybe the community has already made, others, Who knows! This will just be a list of the many mod ideas I have had, one point or another!
The Unwaking World
Have you ever died, just to respawn? I'm pretty sure a lot of us have. With this gem of an idea, we learn just what it takes to get back to poor Steve's spawn point. The idea is, when the character dies, they are taken to a separate realm, one that runs parallel with the overworld. Everything is identical to the overworld, though with a dark tone, and a murky, dreamy feel. In here, everything is swathed with a ominous blue light. In order to escape this dreary realm, Steve must traverse back to his set spawn point, be it his bed, or the original spawn. This seems decently easy, all things considered, But there lurks Danger!Creatures who yearn for Souls will prowl the landscape. If you die here, your inventory is at last dropped, and you must re-enter the Unwaking realm to get it back!
The primary creatures in this realm would mostly be ghosts and Wraiths. I keep getting the image of floating hands carrying lanterns, ghosts that trail you through walls, and unspeakable horrors prowling about in the twilight air. Slaying such beasts might yield rewards, Such as their ghostly fragments and essences to imbue into your weapons and armor through the Anvil.
There are quite a few possibilities to this, feel free to discuss and explore the possibilities, and find little things like flaws that might not work (Given, most players wouldn't want to enter the realm when they die)
Compression Matters
Now, by the time I finish off my grand palaces and magnificent wonders to the world, I find myself having thousands of excess items. The idea behind this mod, would be to add more decorative blocks into the world. Too much cobblestone? craft 9 of it into a grid to get compressed blocks(Actually, this one was already a mod before I thought of it >w<) Drowning in Dirt? Compress! Too much wood? Make compressed blocks of it! Bones, Rotting flesh, gunpowder? No problem! It would give players the ability to make quite a few more extraordinary creations with the resources they are given! Imagine a stone crypt, with Bone blocks as the flooring! Imagine with me, Peering through Ender Glass. Re-craft those mighty giant mushroom blocks without having to precisely grow it in your flooring!
There are quite a few possibilities to this, feel free to discuss and explore the possibilities, and find little things like flaws that might not work~ (I would Kill for some compressed bone blocks :I )
Night of the Necromancer
First off, for this mod, I really want to know if minecraft's current engine could support cut scenes (aside from the one at the end of the game after the dragon). If it could possibly support uploaded cut scenes, this would be a great mod for Single Player.
Ever find the game of minecraft to be dull? Do you need a little bit more RPG flare to it, without just adding more monsters or new ores? Imagine with me, that when you first create a world.. there are no monsters. None. You find caves Barren from all but bats. Steve settles into his new house, and prepares to wait until day, when suddenly, a cut scene breaks in. Near a village graveyard, A necromancer shows up, and begins raising zombies. Now, only zombies will spawn in the world. The second night the necromancer returns to the village, bringing about Skeletons. The third, he finds the stronghold, and through his mad sciences, creates creepers. Fourth night, He discovers the Ender portal, and unleashes the Ender men to the player. On the fifth, he builds his Grand castle on the stronghold with his powerful Ender magic, and begins to create unspeakable horrors for the landscape. At this point, the player must invade his glorious castle, and Fight the evil necromancer to reclaim the land!
...
Iunno, it just seems like a cool idea~
Feel free to discuss over these possible awesome mod ideas that I came up with. When I get a new idea, This list will expand to show it!
Enjoy everyone!
(If you decide suddenly to make one of these into a mod, feel free to contact me and let me know, I want credits for the idea!)

Haven't found a dungeon yet, but really.. this is a pretty good mod! It doesn't seem to work with "better than wolves" though...
