posted a message on [128x][1.8] LIFE - Photo-Realistic HD Resource Pack

Epic pack! It's so cool... if only I could use it. There's so many missing textures! Rails, minecarts, tons of items, flowers, saplings, ingame text, they're all missing textures, and it absolutely destroys the experience. Granted, it might be a problem on my end, but I've tried three separate clients (1.8.8 Optifine F3, regular 1.8, and 1.7.10) and none will load the textures. Is this a WIP or something?

Sorry, my eyes can't use it until the missing textures are fixed. x128 mixed with vanilla just looks weird.

posted a message on OpenComputers [v1.5.21]

Heyo, you probably don't remember my previous post, but we've taken the plunge and migrated over to OpenComputers on our modded server. And of course it's so ridiculously complicated (and realistic! :D) that everyone's asking me for help constantly... sigh...

Anyway, what are the overall chances of finding an OpenOS disk in a treasure chest? Also can this be increased? I've finally gotten (almost) everyone set up with some functioning machines but no-one has an OS yet. If push comes to shove I have permission from the owner to cheat ONE disk in and copy it, but then I have a guilty :/

Y'know what, ignore that post. Completely ignore it. I didn't realize there was a crafting recipe for it using the manual you get on world join. So just nevermind.

    We're still using it though.

posted a message on Cubic Chunks: Reduced lag, infinite height, and more [The #1 Suggestion Thread of all time!][Updated! 6/14]
    Quote from PanJouda»

The client doesn't upload the chunk to the server. The cient dowloads the map and sends to the server the position of block he wants to edit. The clients have much limited possibilities, they can't modify the world as they wish. They can only send requests to the server, that modifies the world itself. It's the same with that the clients can't use MCedit when playing or they can't change the biome or whatever.

Oh, ok. I had a bit of a misunderstanding how client-server communications work. I'm not a programmer (although I aspire to be :P).

I've noticed in the first post, there's this comment on the isEmpty flag:

When the bit is 1, all data for the chunk besides the isEmpty flag is deleted and ignored, which reduces filesize.

To me, this sounds like it could be a possible security hole. A malicious client could send back a malformed chunk update that sets any generated chunk to "Empty" and as such erases anything inside it.

This is probably a moot point, as the server itself should be able to examine it's own copy and see something's wrong, but it might be something to consider.

posted a message on [1.5.1/1.5.2] PowerCrystals' mods - The updates never stop

It's really bugging me. While the other mods are updated for 1.7.10 on CoFH, I don't see power converters anywhere. Does it still exist? It would really help in my private server.

Nice!! I absolutely LOVE the torch holders. And it even inherits the HD textures from some of my other resourcepacks, too!!

Please don't use an ad-fly link to your forum page, though. That's just offputting, but adfly to the download is fine.

    Uhh, wow.

I consider myself a "realism freak" in Minecraft, as in I build my stuff to conform to realistic rules of engineering, don't like floating bases, still want a more powerful PC to run SEUS shaders at 60fps....

    This is... just.... uhh..... :tnt:

I'm still not sure if I want to commit an update to my server, and get input from users on migrating some stuff over to this from CC. Computercraft is simple and not quite as pricey, and frankly trying to figure so much stuff out at once in this mod (and then inevitably helping all the other players set theirs up too  ) is a bit overwhelming. I'm not saying that I'm afraid of complexity (avid IC2ex + Buildcraft user), but not 100% certain whether this fits my criteria for a replacement of Computercraft.

I'll keep this in mind though.

posted a message on Base Defense Mod - Focus on building rather than protecting!
Wow! This has been what I've been looking for for AGES on my friend's private Wargames/PvP server!!!

Quick question before I commit to killing another 15 people with mod updates, since we roll them out in packages: is there any way to disable/circumvent security systems? We're all friends and we frequently infiltrate bases while people are offline just to check up on their technological progress (IC2). However I see this mod as being a bit OP if there's no way to disable it.

Perhaps consider adding a "hacker box" or some item like that, that takes a random period of time (1 to 5min, say to avoid easy breakins) that disable a security system for another period of time (maybe 2-4min)? It would take a bit of balancing to avoid making that section too OP yet usable.

Thanks for making the absolute perfect base protection mod. Who needs GriefPrevention/NoPvP zone plugins? They just take all the fun out of the game :iapprove: :Diamond:

    Quote from thebaum64»

For some reason bloom lighting is not supported by many graphics cards. What kind do you have? Also yes, the sky will be WAY better

Nvidia GT650m. With the most recent drivers mind you (344.75)

It's not a big deal. I don't particularly like bloom anyway.

And wow, i'm getting hyped already! :D

much better, better sunset and sun rise as well

Wow, then i'll REALLY have to make a video then. Can't wait to see the epic level of epicness that this will achieve! :D

edit: Also going to try out your bloom pack right now.
edit2: erm, the bloom pack for me is really buggy. I assume that when you hit the super secret settings button and it comes up "notch..json" for the shader that's yours, but for me it's flickering a lot and hard on my eyes.Might be possible that my GPU won't do it but idk.

    Hey the baum64,

I finally got a video up of your pack. It's not really good but I was kind of rushed when I made it and thus the quality wasn't too good, but I can make a second, more well-thought-out video if you want a better frontpage video.
