I've built a few item elevators but have had issues with them. Today I sat down to figure out was going on. I had two in a world close to each other, only one of which worked. They were identical. Or so I thought. It turns out they went different directions. No, it wasn't a right vs. left turn issue. After doing some rather extensive testing it turns out that it doesn't matter if you turn left or right.
What matters is the direction your source water comes from. If your source flows WEST or NORTH, into the elevator flow it works. Otherwise it doesn't. In the traditional "L" shape design (as shown by ) the short leg is what I consider the "source flow". To get the idea across quickly form an "L" with each of your hands. Your thumbnail is the source of the water flow. Your left hand will work, your right hand will not.
For a longer and more visual example I uploaded a video showing each to youtube: . As I don't run the Java version, I don't know if this has the same effect on there. I suspect it has the same effect on all consoles though. I also don't know if this is a result of the 1.8 level update. If you had workmen elevators that were broken with the update this is probably the cause. If so please post here so others can see confirmation.
Thanks 4j for tu 19, thanks sony for the quality of your cert testing, how you could hold the update so long and still release a buggy piece of **** amazes me.
Sony doesn't do in-game bug testing, that isn't their job. They test for, essentially, meeting Sony's technical guidelines and that the game/app doesn't hork the system itself.
Actually it clearly doesn't if one has the In-Game Tooltips turned off.
I have tips turned off but I do see at the bottom of the screen a change in the controls display. Unless it turned them back on for me... I'll check again after work today.
Hey @4JSteve, can you update the main post to indicate the change in how to get out of vehicles so people don't post as a bug? Perhaps adding a tip in the next update might also help people who didn't know of the change in controls?
I have a bug where I cannot get out of minecarts. My friend just tried exiting, breaking the cart, and finally trying to drown. None of these methods worked to get her out. I tried breaking her out and breaking the block under her and she still couldn't get out. I had to bring her stuff to suicide out of it or she would have been stuck forever. Also, she just found a horse, tamed it and could not get off. There seems to be an issue exiting things.
Use the R3 (push down on right-stick) for exiting. This was changed to allow such things as attacking while mounted, so it isn;t a bug. Though a tip popup telling you of the change when first entering or mounting would be nice.
When it uploaded it it was already at the new version. It translates to a "transitional" format when it does the upload, and in the process is based on whatever version is on the system at that time so the receiving end knows what it needs to do to import it. Thus if done in the last few days it is on the new version. I've read the update has hit the network today, so perhaps try after updating. If it works after you update we have confirmation.
I thought I could get away with not entering the world too, but that doesn't work and it took me a bit to figure out why that would be the case.

Of course, without specific words to indicate either both reads would be more revealing of the reader than the writer. Thus a neutral explanation seems best.
I bought a PS4 for a variety of reasons, and one of them definitely was Minecraft. Coming from the 360 version, I already like the controls, and I know I definitely wouldn't enjoy the point and click interface of PC crafting recipes.
I've been purposefully keeping a small footprint in my PS4 world to increase the chance of witch huts and treasure chests with nametags showing up in the unexplored regions. I'm starting to think I should just start a new world when TU19 drops.
Yeah the kids and I have been doing the same. Though the bug list shows it may be a moot point anyway as there seem to be issues with witch spawns. Still, we're going to give it another week and move on regardless.

4J never promised a date - they can't as they don't control it. So there is no "meeting their deadline" to be had. And Sony did release it for two of their three regions. That they have not yet is not something 4J can control or predict. It is impossible to predict "any setbacks". I don't know why Sony hasn't released it in the US, and neither do you. So claiming anything could have been done by 4J differently is puerile and pointless.

I was playing Minecraft with some friends an i was telling them about this thing i built on PS3 an said i'll transfer it to PS4 to show it off an whatnot. I went on my PS3 an saved it to the cloud or whatever Minecraft uses to transfer saves, then jumped back on my PS4 to download it. The download itself went perfectly but when the world showed up in my save list it was named a bunch of random numbers and letters instead of the default "New World" (yes im not super creative when it comes to naming things xD). So i clicked on the save to load it up an see if I could show my friends an the game crashed an i got some error code (ce-34878-0). It only comes up when i try to load the world and never anytime other than that, I do know what the code is from back when PS4 launched. I did try to re-upload/re-download the save a couple more times incase it was just a fluke but everytime without fail i got ce-34878-0 an the game crashed. Anyone have a fix or know what to do?
As as with others who posted the very same question, your PS3 save is from the newer version than the PS4 so it can't load the new save in an old game.
The fix is to wait until the update drops for the PS4 in NA.
Oh I'm sorry... I've been wasting my winter break because I don't have the update. I've been doing redstone on PS3 with the new stuff... I know it's glitchy and I do not care! We aren't getting a bug fixed update, we will get the same glitches patch. So give us the update now and give us the bug fix when it's ready. I hope you realize a fast bug fix update would be a week to make plus 2 weeks for testing... That means we get it 4 weeks after the PS3 got the update. If your telling me you don't want it now then your just trying to act like you don't care and you just want it done correctly because your that kind of a person. sit down and be quiet. You want it, don't lie. Maybe I actually will get an Xbox1... If MC is the only game I play then why not.

And yes, I am the type of person who would rather wait a few more weeks and have something playable and not broken than one that is fundamentally broken and causes things such as unplayable worlds or corruption of existing worlds thus actually ruining work already done. I don't measure my self worth by comparing when I get a software update compared to others (again, if that is the main value in your life, go play it on the PC instead otherwise you will forever be behind). It's called being an adult. Perhaps someday you'll figure that out.
In the meantime at least complain about and to the correct people: Sony.

That isn't bug. Spiders have a chance to spawn with potion effects on them. Invisibility is one such effect.

The release with hoppers is not available for NA PS4 units yet. A brief look throught this forum would have told you that.
