posted a message on The Next Evolution for in game Interfaces! [300+ Support!] Now with lots of Pics.
I can't tell you how many time's I've started a crafting recipe only to realize moments later that I need more sticks, or just don't have any at all.

This is a terrific idea that ought to be fairly easy to implement, full support.

posted a message on Green villager finally used?
The green villager isn't supposed to have a "profession," so it isn't possible for it to change to that profession... because technically it doesn't exist, and every villager is supposed to have one.

New snapshot actually makes me want to play again, but I feel like they need to either get rid of the River Biome, or seriously improve it. This random coloration change ain't doing it for me.

Has anyone else noticed that jungle and desert are much more rare now?
...or is that just my seed?

It's your seed. I just generated a new world, and that's all I've been able to find so far, Excluding Jungles. Haven't found one of them yet.
That, and the new Savanna Biome.

    posted a message on Outnumbered.
It really depends. I'm assuming you're talking about PvP, and in Close-Combat I usually Figure-8 around everybody involved making myself hard to hit, and I've actually taken on more enemies with much more advanced armor than myself using that tactic, and barely won.

I was playing MineZ (it's really a great server.) and a bunch of players wandered into the town I was looting. All but one had full Iron armor, and the one that didn't had a chain chestplate and everything else was iron. I, however, was still sporting iron leggings and leather chestplate. I'm a pretty trusting guy, so I went out to meet them.(i.e. I didn't want to get stuck in a corner so they could just hold me down and murder me.) One of the full-iron guys immediately got out his bow, so I ducked behind a building. The other two followed me, Iron swords drawn, and the one with the bow circled around the other side of the building. I started to bounce around the two with the swords, and somehow managed to take out one of them that didn't seem to move very much for some reason. Luckily, I didn't have to take out the other one, the guy with the bow was a bad shot, and ended up accidentally killing his own man. I ducked into a nearby Tower and started to climb up to the top, the dude shooting at me the whole way.
At this point I was down to half-health, and if you play MineZ, then you know that your health doesn't regen with a full hunger bar. I basically got up to the next platform in the tower, and waited for him to run out of arrows. When he finally did, I just waited for him to come up the stairs, and knocked him off the tall platform with my own bow. (I was low on arrows, so I didn't want to use it for mainstream PvP.) He fell off and died.

That wasn't really the end of it though, the scuffle had attracted a few zombies, and I died trying kill them. (zombies in MineZ are really OP so you can't just breeze through it.)

I'm certainly counting it as a PvP win though, because I did kill all three players attacking me.

posted a message on What is truely killing the player in the void?
    Quote from Metalmeerkat

Given Minecraft's infinite breadth and width while finite height, I'd say it's due to falling out of the safe overworld dimension into the airless unprotected void. The void being the surrounding medium of the minecraft dimensions.

Just something to think about to all the people saying that it's lack of air; If there was a lack of air in the Void, wouldn't all the air be sucked out of the Overworld as soon as you broke through the Bedrock?

Personally, I think it's the overwhelming amount of Blurgleguards down there. They offer a full Taco as reward to which Blurgle kills you. It's too high pitched to actually hear, but when you start getting harmed people have recorded them screaming. it sounds a little like hioupapnvjrhippnqjnpiuqhueoin vjabjdnfanjdha.

posted a message on I need to convince my dad to buy me minecraft...
    Quote from GateFox

The graphics are actually fine, which can be improved even more with texture packs. Minecraft has made people find hidden creativity in them and has even inspired a lot of people to take up coding. Programmers are pretty rare to find, and there is job demand EVERYWHERE for them.

Your dad's logic for Minecraft being a bad game because of its "crappy graphics" is terrible, and actually sounds like the logic some "hardcore" Call of Duty eight year old fan might come up with. Again, texture packs and even some mods fix that.

Aaaaand this is where Logic thinking comes in. Most likely, his dad isn't into coding, nor does he have any interest to do so, based on his obvious lack of appreciation of a game he clearly has never played, even though the devs of this game are much harder working than most. (if you play vCoD up until now, you can steadily feel the quality dropping.) not to mention, that these "low Quality graphics" games are typically ridiculed for absolutely no reason; Pokemon, which is just now moving into 3d models is still one of the worlds top selling games, and they still use sprites for such a huge playerbase. Minecraft has more items/crafting recipes than I have seen with most games, having a whopping.. *checks the wiki* .. a lot. I don't need to count all of those to prove MC has more quality than most popular Console games.

All this without mentioning that these people are usually incredibly stubborn for the simple fact that "they're the adult, so they know what's best," which isn't always true. It seems to me that you're going to have to be patient to get it, if you do at all. Because they are your parents, they have final say on any and all of your official financial decisions. In fact, the only reason I have Minecraft is because a friend of mine's family plays it on a regular basis, and he got his dad to all but pay for it for me.

posted a message on Diamonds? Does anyone REALLY find them?
    Quote from KoriryuVEX

I don't find diamonds, I feel that coming across them is destined to be.

    2deep4me
You have to make sure you mine at least below level 17, as diamonds start appearing at level 16 according to the wiki. I would use Magus' method of Mining, except start at y=14 and work your way down, so as you miss a total of 0 diamonds. if you have problems finding them, get ready to use a ton of iron, because it goes faster than you think. If you're low on iron, I would suggest using cobble picks until you actually run across diamonds, so that when you do finally find some you aren't scrambling to get an iron pick, you aren't going to be losing much if you use cobble either, heck, you'll be mining a metric ton of the stuff anyway.

posted a message on Easter Egg- Curing A Zombie Villager in 1.6.2
    Quote from GateFox

Not really an Easter egg. Easter eggs are a reference to something outside of the theme or topic. Like how one of the windows in Assassin's Creed 1 was designed to look like Optimus Prime's torso as a vehicle. That's an Easter egg.

    Or this.

It's typically something that is very hard to find within a game, and usually only in "set world" games. Minecraft is a standalone terrain generator, so making an easter egg in it typically won't be something you can do as a game mechanic.
No, an easter egg in Minecraft is like how zombies can spawn with pumpkins/jack-o-lanterns on their heads during Halloween, or the chests texture change at christmas, In a game like Minecraft, an Easter egg will be totally out of your control.

posted a message on GOLD Vs. IRON-Which Is Better?
I think that they're perfectly balanced, Especially if you enjoy playing on a PvP-based server.

Golden Apples (both material and block forms) come in quite handy if you aren't expecting someone, and Healing potions are invaluable in Bow Fights.
Oh, not to mention Golden carrots are needed for invisibility potions, another great thing if you don't want to fight someone.

That being said, Iron is used for, like.. everything. Rails, Minecarts, buckets, Shears.. the list goes on. Not to mention you need an iron pick to get up to the next tier of tools, and Irons' durability is next to the best you can get.

posted a message on help!1.6.2 wont update :(
you don't even have to go on Minecraft.net, open the old launcher and it will put a notification on your screen that 1.6 is out and that you can (aka NEED) to download the new launcher. click on the provided link, paste it into your URL search bar, and you're done.

Ever since 1.6 Spiders can spawn with Potion effects applied to them, and when the invisibility potion is applied to them only their eyes show, making them somewhat ghostly.

posted a message on Horse spawn ID (100) not working. Just produces useless gray/white egg that doesn't do anything?
if it's in Minecraft version 1.4.6 you really need to update your client. The newest version of Minecraft (1.6+) is the only one that supports Horses in any way, so you can't spawn them in any other version.
