Im not against the torches, just the idea of needed Lightstone for them. I started a new game two weeks ago and I still dont have a Nether portal up. (Im a slow miner)

Also johnthefisherman don't waste your breath, most people on these forums probably think having move out of their parents inner-city penthouse and into their five bedroom summer home is 'doing it rough'. Kids these days... They want everything given to them on a platter... They don't know the meaning of the word challenge, haha.

I prefer less monsters because I happen to find too many mobs frustrating and my goals in this game revolve around building a fun home and not fighting off hoardes of creepers.
You have more than one option to indulge in:
1. Creative mode.
2. Peaceful mode.
3. Deal with it.
4. Complain on the forums to no avail with the rest of everyone who can't handle any situation which they do not have total and full control over... Gosh help you people if one day you are presented with a real life challange and you find there is no 'peaceful' switch for life.
As for the person who suggested the deleting of saves/MMO I think that's a great idea. It might make people a bit smarter and careful about the game instead of running around all gung-ho and then dying because they refuse to use their brains.
Also if people seriously think turrets need to be in this game *facepalm*, just *facepalm*...
Maybe get used to the changes instead of demanding that things revert back to a place you felt comfortable at? The simple fact of the matter is people SHOULDN'T be able to 'clear' areas... It's a stupid idea and I don't know what made people think they had the right to claim areas in the first place.
If you don't like it then play on peaceful. Then you will get no monsters at all.
I don't see the difference between having the option to have no monsters and wanting Notch to reduce the difficulty to a point where you might as well have no monsters.
People these days have no tolerance for anything harder than WoW.
There is a difference between Peaceful, some monsters, and too many monsters. Some don't like peaceful because they miss out on the challange while other enjoy it because they can build without worry.
Some people prefer having some monsters so they can build large structures yet still experience the danger of encountering a creeper in your dungeon.
While others prefer the survival aspect of the game and the reward for building basic structures without suffering too many casualties.
Either a balance must be found, or options must be implemented to fit these needs.
Some people like challenge, these are the people who like the new spawns. Some people like to pretend they like challenge. Challenge is not a controlled environment. Challenge is the very opposite of a controlled environment. You are either for challenge or you are not... There is no... I'm for challenge but only up to the point that I would die because that would be too challenging and I'm ascared of that much challenge. In my opinion the game is still way too easy and mobs should be able to break into houses and shelters from the outside. As well as spawning from your mineshafts inside.

Breaking leaves and being showered with grey un-leaf-like residue is making me a sad panda... Please change the breaking leaves animation back to green?
To people who have not tried breaking leaves yet the flakes that come off them look like stone flakes, not leaf flakes.
You can only find diamonds on the bottom 10 or so levels I believe. Your best bet is to try and tunnel into a cavern, probably filled with magma and seeing if you can see any veins.
Amusing that you ask others to go the effort of manually deleting their saves when you can't even go to the effort of using correct English.
Also under your logic Notch should stop updating the game. We can just pretend every third dirt block is a new ore, we can pretend eggs work and we can just sit at water with a rod and pretend fishing works... In fact... Why don't you cut out the middle-man? Why don't you hit your power button right now... Go over to the corner of the room, sit down and pretend to play minecraft. That way there will be less silly posts in my thread.

Seriously, this man speaks the truth. You must remember though, that the forums is populated (majority) by people under 18. Most of them are 13-15 in fact. They lack the, life experience really... to be "normal" and "intelligent". I'm not saying they are stupid, but it is a generational thing. These days it's apparently "cool" to act like a total **** bag. Back in my day, you'd get your face kicked in for pulling half the **** kids think is "cool" these days, but that's another thread.

The problem is that it looks ugly like I'm hitting stone. Shouldn't the base sprite be green so green flakes shoot off when we hit it?

I was using a custom texture pack before the update but I deleted everything including the .minecraft folder in the USER/ folder...
