All you need is a t flip flop and split the output and invert one

I find this really cool. Seems like it may be of more use to adventure maps because there is the possibility of the water in the coblestone generator to wash away the torch. I really like this.

I figured this out in a thread when pistons first came out. I didn't find out much more than you already have except that you can walk through the back of the pistons when they are moving fast enough. So it would make for a one-way door.

I was saying that if you were to put a block above the redstone in the red square, you would be able to run redstone onto the purple block in the green square. The block above the redstone would keep the redstone beneath from connecting to the redstone on the purple block, therefore taking away the need for a repeater runing into the purple block.

Well, if you make it so the water only sees the central canal as the closest drop to it, then it will go there. Thats why I thought my idea may work. But, I'm not sure if the water will still see the drop under the signs or not.

posted a message on Compact RS NOR Latch Tutorial
That is a rather creative rs-nor latch. But, a couple of things to note. At first I was skeptical on how it worked. I think it would be beneficial for you to show the creation working, then show how it works, THEN show how to make it. Also, "rs-nor" does stand for something. The r stands for reset and the s stands for set, and if I'm not mistaken, the nor stands for "not or." The thing I don't like about the wiki is that it explains these circuits in a technical way. It should also describe this stuff in a way suitible for people that haven't gotten a degree in electrical engineering.

That is quit interesting. It's sort of a torch/piston clock combined with an rs-nor latch to form a sort of self reseting rs-nor latch. I like. One thing I would like to point out, though, is that if you put a block above the redstone leading into the repeater, then you can have straight up redstone either on or leading into the purple block. Although that would add an extra block of height.

I like the idea so far. My idea for being able to collect the drops left on the dirt would be to have signs above the water canals and then have a water stream come in from the side and collect the drops. Not sure this would work though, as I haven't messed around with water streams much, but if you keep the rows of melons and pumpkins 7 or less blocks long, then this could work.

The smallest I could get it. :/

If you watch Ethoslab's LP 100, he shows a vertical version of this. I think it is about 10 minutes of so in.

posted a message on 1.8 Pictures
So I was flying around my newly generated 1.8 world to see whats what, and here are some interesting and funny things I found.

Oh sheep. What are you doing? Your not a tree, your a sheep!

Oh cow. What are you doing? Your not a tree, your a cow!

Oh God! 4 Endermen! Good thing I'm flying and they can't get to me...

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

Phew! Good thing they get hurt by daytime.

All Hail the Almighty Creator, Notch!

Now that's just awesome. (Note: found the hole on the right while flying over an ocean. Also, there was a dungeon to my right)

    I'm in space!

The world generator almost created a creeper face, but sadly it didn't want it enough.

Now for some interesting world generation:

I have never seen a skeleton jockey, even after playing this game since late alpha, and the one in this picture was the third one I saw on this world.

Well, that's all I have right now. Will post anything else of interest I find later.

You can also use a self resetting RS-NOR latch, which may be more compact.

To the debate as to computers being bugs or not, I believe I read in an interview with Notch that when he created redstone, he thought or said to someone that he wonders how long it will take before people create a computer with it. Not sure if my brain is making stuff up or not, but I am pretty sure I read it in an interview.

On-topic, this is a really interesting device. Have you tried other blocks that produce particles, such as redstone blocks or furnaces? I don't know if they would be to reliable, though, since you said that netherrack fires didn't work to well.

I honestly can't see why it would do what you are saying. It may be a bug of some sort. But I would recommend trying to delay the second pulse a little longer, probably at least a full repeater delay.

Edit* Pretty much exactly what badRAT has
