Agreed, and I myself started on cracked...
That was when I was 14, I think... had to convince my dad to get it through his paypal XD
Personally I'm of the opinion that most people who can buy Minecraft and who will actually play it will at some point get premium, though- and if not, for shame, I guess.
Sep 15, 2014Notch himself once said that someone else could just pirate, if they couldn't get Minecraft.Posted in: Discussion
That being said, many players also start off as cracked- myself as well... not to mention the fact that not everyone has access to paypal, credit cards, etc- heck, I was only 14 when I started playing Minecraft.
In the end I'm fairly positive that most cracked players who actually enjoy Minecraft and play a lot of it will at some point convert to premium Minecraft, if only just to support such an awesome game... (would have said if only just to support Notch but.... it's Microsoft now :/ )
And finally, if you don't want to deal with cracked players play on premium servers.
Sep 15, 2014In the end I can't blame Notch for selling out to 2.5 billion.Posted in: Discussion
For that matter, I kind of feel bad for Notch if anything, for all the hate he's getting for this, and even before this... and considering his message I can see where he's coming from.
6 years of Minecraft; and for me almost 5 years of playing it, admittedly a good year or so of cracked Minecraft even at first. Notch had led the game out of alpha and beta stages into a full release, and even then continued to toss out more and more free content (well, Mojang did. and Notch owns Mojang)... and not to mention his support of the community, and just being a cool guy overall and not selling out as he has now, etc... I'd say Notch gave us all more than our money's worth.
I'm pessimistic about Minecraft's future with Microsoft though. All I can hope is that they don't mess it up, or change anything at all for that matter...

Not gonna apply as I've no idea if I'll be able to commit to a server at the moment though. Good luck anyways
Sep 4, 2014Sounds like adventure mode. Maybe make a new world or something (or if you REALLY want that world use NBTedit to change gamemode as I don't think 1.7 TMI will work with 1.8...)Posted in: Java Edition Support
*edit* nvm. Just use NBTedit; read your post again.
...don't remember 100% but if you look at the world.dat file on a NBT editor somewhere there should be a "gamemode" or something. Set that to either 0 or 1.
Aug 29, 2014Thanatar posted a message on LAST DAYS-[A LOT+ downloads!] [Merry H.I.V.E.-fest!]Excellent looking pack. Much thanks good sir.Posted in: Resource Packs
Looks like I'm going to be building sci-fi again, for the first time since SMP's 2263 was discontinued.
Aug 1, 2014Thanatar posted a message on Looking for a good sci-fi pack to build something like this, any suggestions? (looking for texture pack similar to SMP's 2263)Basically, I'm looking for a sci-fi texture pack that is hopefully somewhat similar to SMP's 2263: http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/mapping-and-modding/resource-packs/1242344-16x-1-4-6-smps-2263-a-sci-fi-texture-pack-01-05Posted in: Resource Pack Help
Since its discontinuation, I haven't really built any sci-fi things in a while... so I was just wondering if any of you know of any good packs (preferably updated to 1.7.X)
Examples of what I'm looking for:
Basically something like this, a more... neon colored/idk look and feel, and hopefully the same not-too-realistic appearance. I've been looking for a replacement for 2263 ever since, but can't seem to find one; most other sci-fi texture packs (of which there seem to be few) seem to prefer a sleeker, more minimalistic and generally well-blended (as in little clashing of colors) style... And they often are either too high-resolution, or not detailed enough XD
Another general idea of what kind of theme I'm looking for in a texture pack: (well not exactly like that/anywhere near that... but you get the idea )
Thanks in advance
Aug 1, 2014Currently loving this mod/modding API, both because it finally allows me to use WorldEdit again, and not only that but it's just so convenient... No problems with it either, it's incredibly easy to use, even more so than when all that was needed was to toss files in .jar files..Posted in: Minecraft Mods
I do have a suggestion though, as the automatic installer didn't work for me. Or rather, it DID work... just that it simply modified my vanilla 1.7.10.json file instead... which I can definitely understand why it did so.As such I basically copied line-by-line of the modified .json file with LiteLoader onto my other .json file, which had MCpatcher and TMI installed already...
Even without much prior knowledge of the .json file it was easy to do this. All I'm saying is it would probably be convenient and help some people who probably don't know how to edit the file/are trying to add LiteLoader to an already modded .jar file if there was some way to select which version to be edited, rather than just modifying the vanilla one
Aug 1, 2014Thanatar posted a message on Gammabright - Advanced Brightness/Fullbright Mod [200,000+ Downloads!]Posted in: Minecraft ModsQuote from pakos2835
thx for reply!
hmm but there are no such setting in vanilla client
how i can detect and disable mod ? need server side modpart i think
Just adding to what others have said...
YES it's true that the gamma settings on Minecraft are somewhat (but not very) limited. However the lightmap for Minecraft itself is part of the texture pack, and as such it would be more than possible to have a texture pack that essentially removes any night/day visual differences...
Aug 1, 2014Thanatar posted a message on ChunkBorders - Visualize chunk boundaries, locate chunk centers, and more. So, installed it and it's perfectPosted in: Minecraft Mods
What others have said about the arrow keys not working is true though, but since it always shows the borders at the height you are at when you press B it doesn't matter anyways

Jan 2, 2014Waaay too many large, long comments above for me to bother seeing where the discussion has turned...Posted in: Recent Updates and Snapshots
But anyways, I've never really considered MC world generation the best for my needs, if I were to use it I'd probably make and delete several worlds before finding one I figured acceptable.
Sometimes you can even spawn in the ocean, so yeah....
And it's not just v.1.7's world generation which sucks. Vanilla world generation has always sucked.
World editing/terraforming mods and programs like MCedit, WorldEdit, VoxelSniper, and even WorldPainter do the trick for me; typically if I'm trying to make something big I might set the world generation settings to flat, or even flat with (0,0) in order to have literally no blocks whatsoever (would require WorldEdit, SPC, and TMI though)
If you like playing pure vanilla though, you're pretty much out of luck :/
Dec 27, 2013Thanatar posted a message on TooManyItems, the inventory editor and more (1.8 Forge is here!)So the 1.7.2 version didn't work with 1.7.4 after all... I guessed that was so but kept trying anyways, ah well :/Posted in: Minecraft Mods
Usually such small version differences don't matter.

I use a Mac, and I've always found modding directly frustrating, and even more so with the new launcher.
^^This. I currently hate the new launcher, though I never found modding fustrating before I started using it, mainly because I really just
used mods like TMI, SPC, and mcedit...
I can understand it's going to lead to lots of great new features and all, but it's horrible for me so far...
