This very same thing just happened on my server. Hacker logged in as my name, issued a command to disable the whitelist and started probing the plugins. Fortunately, I had my server console open at work and I managed to ban the IPs and removed all ops before they did any damage.

Just so I have this right, the vulnerability is in CraftBukkit right?

Hi all. I have a question that may have been asked before but since this thread is a thousand posts long, I'm not going to trawl through the whole thing just to see if the question has been raised before. Anyway, onto the question.

I recently moved server hosts and in the transfer process a hand full of .mca files didn't copy over and now I have a few holes in my world. I still have the original map so I know that if I copy over the right.mca files it will fix the problem. The trouble is I don't know which files to transfer. It used to be that you could work out which region file you were in by dividing your X & Z coords by 16/32, but with the new Anvil format I'm not certain if this is still the case. So, does anyone here know exactly how to determine the correct .mca file from a set of x:z coordinates?

This is slightly off topic, but I find a better solution to a Whitelist is to get yourself a good Permissions plugin, I use PermissionsEx, create a Guest rank and give it only the permission to chat. That way you protect your server from casual griefers who happen to drop by and you give genuinely interested people a chance to explore your server and maybe join if they like what they see. It also has the added bonus of not affecting your server when problems like this occur and you have to set online-mode to false

    Wierd, my server is fine...

It's probably a server node somewhere between our Minecraft servers and Minecraft.net that's causing an issue. If you're not routing through the flaky server, the issue wont effect you. It's not weird, it's just how the internet works.

I think the problem is the Minecraft.net name verifying server. I'm having the same issue as are my players. I'm even getting the same thing trying to log into my test server which is on the same machine as my client.

    Edit:

I just set verify-names and online-mode to false and both my servers let me right in. I'd say this confirms the trouble is external to your setup.

    > Close minecraft
    > Install Zomb for 1.2.3
    > JM no longer works

Any idea what is wrong or should I just go and submit a ticket? I have read over all the help files on the JM site and didn't see anything that applied. And I saw no (clear) errors in the ML or JM log.

EDIT: Net lagged, posted too soon. -.-

I had problems with Journey Map conflicting with other mods until I found a custom launcher for minecraft called Magic Launcher. It helps load mods on the fly so you don't need MC Patcher or need to patch manually. It also lets you load the mods in which ever order you like and lets your know in real-time which mods are conflicting with which. I'm not sure if it will help with your conflict.

Is there likely to be a fix for the blank map issue at positions above z=4000 or z=-3800 anytime soon?

No probs. I've submitted a bug report with the journeymap.log file and a couple of screen shots attached. I had a look at the log and journeymap seems to be throwing an exception (java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException) when I'm at a Z coordinate greater than 4100 or less than -3850. When between -3850 and 4100 the mapper seems to function normally.

Not sure if this has been brought up before, I haven't read the 9 pages in this thread. I'm using Journey Map while playing on my multiplayer server. It's has worked fine but since the recent version I'm having issues with it not mapping when I get out to areas beyond x: -12000, z: 3800. I don't know if it's perhaps due to bukkit not having a recommended build or some other factor but I thought I'd report this issue in case you weren't aware of it.

We're mostly a survival server. We try to foster a relaxed atmosphere where people can play the game they want. We have safe zones within the city, and in other miscellaneous areas for those who like to play in peaceful mode, and we have the rest of the world set to Normal Survival mode, for those who enjoy hunting mobs and dungeon crawling.

We use a few different plugins; iConomy, Localshops, LWC, OtherDrops, Catacombs , VoxelPort and several griefer countermeasure plugins.

We don't have a bible-sized rule book. In fact the only rules we have are no griefing and no cheating. PvP is allowed but mugging people for their loots is frowned upon.

Please keep in mind, this is an AUSTRALIAN server. If you're outside Australia you're more than welcome to join but keep in mind your latency will be higher the farther you are away from us. Our server is hosted By TacoNation is runs 24/7. Currently is a 512MB server, but we want to upgrade to 1GB at some stage and even shift to a donation model to help finance it. At the moment I'm just paying for the dedicated server until such time as the population is stable enough to support a donation model.

posted a message on ★★★ Australian Server Looking For Mature Builders ★★★
Our little server has been running for almost two months now and we're finding it hard to find mature and reliable players. Basically we're a 90% survival server which does large free building projects from time to time. The next project we have planned is to create a series of towns and villages leading away from our main city which will end in a large mountain range over a subterranean city in the style of the Dungeons & Dragons fantasy Drow city of Menzoberranzan. The project will cover around 20-30 square kilometres. We're waiting for the 1.2 update before starting the project since we want the jungle biomes to be part of it.

Other than our large building projects we're mostly a survival server.

We're a mostly survival server which has large building (creative-mode) projects from time to time. We're an Aussie based server and are pretty laid back. We want to create an environment where people play the game anywhere they like, so there's no pressure to play a certain way or attend a roll call at 6am every morning. :wink.gif:

    • 95% Vanilla Bukkit Australian based Server
    • 95% Survival
    • Is Up 24/7.
    • Spawn in a main City of our construction.
    • iConomy, Localshop, LWC, Catacombs, OtherDrops, Voxel port, and some griefer countermeasures.
    • Rules - None...mostly. Just don't grief or mess with other players stuff and we're all good.

Please keep in mind, this is an AUSTRALIAN server.
