This REALLY needs to be compatible with optifine. Without optifine, the game lags the crap out.

What version of Minecraft are you using anyways, 1.7.10, or 1.8? If it's 1.7.10, there are several other lag-reducing mods to use. My suggestion is combining Fastcraft and BetterFPS, which will probably you a bigger boost than Optifine anyways. You will lose the other additions from Optifine, such as extra view distance and such but at least you won't have to write this mod off because of an incompatibility.

I might be mistaken, but the reason the promised land was removed was due to it being prone to a lot of issues. I think the developers originally planned to pull it until they could get it running better, but then decided to focus on adding in new biomes instead.

    Wiki offline. Nooooooooooooooo!

Since the wiki's offline I'll give you a quick run-through of the progression system. You need to kill the Naga first, then you can access the Lich. After the Lich, you go to the labyrinth in the swamp, kill the boss there. After that, the Hydra in the middle of the fire swamp. Next up, go to the dark forest and find the goblin stronghold, then slay the knight swarm there. Once that's done, you can explore the wooden tower and fight the ur-ghast. And then you can head to the snowy area, find the alpha yeti lair, and slice up the boss. Finally, there is the Ice queen on top of the glacier, who is the last boss of the fully-functional areas.

If you want to continue though, you can go to the highlands and explore the caves. Somewhere in the caves are seeds that you can plant in special soil to make a beanstalk up to the floating islands, you can then slay the giants there and steal their stuff, which includes a giant pickaxe used to break open special underground vaults. Those vaults should have a lamp you can burn the thorns down with. And I think after that all that's left is the incomplete castle at the top. Sorry if this last part is a little off, I only did a quick run-through of the highlands following the wiki's advice, and had to cheat stuff in because of the giants not spawning and stuff, so I probably spent all of 15-20 minutes there total.

i wonder what the boss for the castle is?

Well, if I remember the boss platform is outdoors and in a fairly spacious area, so my guess is something that both flies and attacks on land. Dragon perhaps?

Try removing Optifine first and see what happens. It might be a bug related to it, as there have been issues between the two mods occasionally.

Not sure if you remember, but I used to ask about that every 5 pages or so. Haven't used the mod a whole lot lately, but I'm going to give it another try and see what's in it nowadays.

EDIT: I didn't see arak in there. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arak_(drink)

Also the mod was glitching out really badly on my laptop, worse than it ever used to. However that's probably just because it's an old computer (with intel graphics) and the mod would probably run better on my desktop anyway.

Not really related to this Psychedelicraft, but if all you want to do is add Araq into Minecraft to add a bit more spice to middle-eastern style areas, the LOTR mod has it. All you get from it is standard nausea though, no special effects, so having it in here would be pretty cool.

If you mean Minas Tirith and other cities, not yet. They are planned once more of the mod is complete, but I believe Mevans wants to get most of Middle-Earth's terrain and factions made first.

But if you mean small towns, there are two locations that have them. In Near Harad Fertile you can run into towns belonging to the Near Haradrim, and I believe the Moredain of Far Harad's savannas have little towns as well.

Also, while this works better with some factions than others, you can often set up a decent-looking town in under an hour using creative mode. Most groups have 4-5 buildings that can be spawned in and have units included, so as long as you're willing to build the roads and paths connecting each building, you can often get a nice-enough looking place set up. But like I said, this doesn't work well with all factions: Some like the high elves only have two complete buildings, others like the Rohirrim have several, but only three or so work for in towns, etc.

out of curiosity, is BetterFPS the same as "FPS plus" mod? If not ,I'm having a tough time finding the one you mentioned....would you mind linking to it? currently I use Fastcraft and optifine in a modpack I'm making with about 170 mods (no conflicts with optifine so far either ^_^) but more performance boosters wouldn't hurt :)

Ah, sorry. It's on Curse's mod website, here's a link.

I'd suggest Fastcraft and/or BetterFPS for just framerate issues. Optifine is great, and does a lot more than just add some FPS, but it also can cause conflicts with some other mods(BoP alone should be fine though).

Going underground quickly can help, as long as you've got an air vent you're generally going to be warmer down there. And if you can make flint and steel and some wood, or find lava and a enough iron to make a bucket you can make a warm enough spot on the surface to return to when freezing..

posted a message on The Lord of the Rings Mod: Bringing Middle-earth to Minecraft - Update 34.3

I don't know if anyone's already mentioned this ("Search Thread" is broken as always), but I've recently started combining Fastcraft and BetterFPS. The two mods function perfectly together, and allowed me to jump up my view distance from 8 to 16 on my fairly old laptop. I'm generally getting 30fps even when travelling through new terrain, and well above that if not. Only places that drop me below 30 are the dense woods(And presumably Mirkwood, haven't been there yet on this character), and that only during terrain generation. I did have a pretty horrid load-time when just getting to middle-earth though, but after that it's been smooth.

Anyways, just thought I'd suggest that combination for anyone who's still having FPS issues in Middle-Earth.

Well, I don't know if 1.8 changed anything about the installation process(Too many fantastic mods are 1.7.10), but assuming that it hasn't been changed, after you install forge, all you need to do is place most mods inside of the "mods" folder within your Minecraft folder. Assuming nothing conflicts and you aren't dealing with some weird mod that requires a resource pack or something, that is seriously all you need to do.

Hey, that sometimes works for swamp dungeons! They're full of water, and if a ravine cuts through them the water can get left behind, leaving little water-bridges you can swim across!:D More seriously, the terrain cutting through is a fairly annoying problem that you will see quite often, but I actually do not remember a case in which a structure merged with Roguelike Dungeons. That still might just be luck though, as the mod does start fairly far below ground.

What's the not enough items menu?

Not Enough Items(Also known as NEI) is a rather popular mod, and is generally put in most modpacks. Basically it gives you a searchable menu that you can use to check item recipes for and such. Here's a link to its forum page. To run it you'll need to download both it and the CodeChickenCore, then toss them in your mod folder.
