posted a message on Cloth Map?
I had this old cloth map for skins on my old hard drive before it crashed. It was a little transparent .png file you'd stick on a layer over your skin and it'd darken or lighten certain areas to give your skin a cloth-like texture. Now I've tried finding this file again and again and all I've come up with is the old AO tutorial that'd tell you to just overlay the wool texture, which I guess works but doesn't look as good. Anyone have the file I'm talking about, or know what it is?

Probably a million threads about this, but I've no idea what the Hell this is. I've never experienced anything like it, but it happens constantly. Seems to worsen near taxing biomes such as Jungles. Started happening around 1.2, worsened at 1.2.5.

The orangish bits flash, the line style areas scale with the screen.

Windows XP SP3, AMD Athlon 64, ATi Radeon HD 2400 XT, if that helps. Video drivers are updated. Updated LWJGL.

Anyone else experience anything like this? Anyone know what's going on?

    OMG there tabs OMG lol

Just ignore and move on........ dont think anyone cares you give it 7/10 how about you go make something better if your goign to complaine about something thats meant to give you simple stuff right there? SO instead of people having to search for they jave script coding or making a bat file they can simply add more memory or manage there mods easier.

I dont see anything better then this or even see anything you have made.....

Just because I don't have a mastery of Java programming I can't criticize a program made in Java? I'm not saying the launcher is bad (far from it actually it looks pretty kickass) but you've got to admit the interface is ugly as Hell. Not that it matters because Function > Form but still. That and it's hard to ignore that retarded little robot's head, especially when I think about all of the meme-spewing shitheads that the site generates.

Seriously I ****ing hate reddit with a passion. I supported anti-SOPA movements until I heard reddit adopted an anti-SOPA movement (I didn't go supporting SOPA or anything, I basically became indifferent, due to finding out that there were idiots on both sides.)

What I can complain about is your horrendous spelling and general stupidity. Go to the shithole from whence you came. It's people like you who ruined Minecraft's community.

    Quote from Moonj64

If that's your opinion, don't use that tab, I personally find reddit to be a good place for discussion.

Back On topic: I really like the launcher so far and it seems very promising in the future, will definately keep an eye out for updates.

Edit: to clarify, by "don't use" I meant "don't flip to" as you already pointed out you cannot disable any tabs.

Like I said, it's hard to ignore the retarded looking robot (it reminds me of some guy who engraved the slide of his Glock with it, God that image still keeps me up at night sometimes.) It's mostly me and not the mod, but jesus ****.

Also no offense to you or the sensible people who use reddit. It's just that I encounter a lot, and I mean A LOT of idiots who originate from the site. Must be the Law of Large Numbers.

And to all other members of the Reddit Defense Force, I'm sorry I didn't personally reply to your posts but I'm not sifting through 10 pages of bug reporting to retort at those who may or may not be there.

Anyhow, great launcher sp614x. Pretty it up a bit and you've got a ****ing goldmine.

Is it possible to disable the reddit tab, or if it isn't could you make it possible to disable the tabs? This looks like a great mod but I'd rather not download it because of the reddit tab.

EDIT: I donwloaded it to see for myself if I could mess around with the tabs, and they seemed pretty stationary.

I'd give this launcher a 7/10, because you can't disable the tabs, and the GUI is godawful.

posted a message on AND THE GREATEST SHOOTER GAME AWARD GOES TO ...
I've already made this post once, but due to evil magicks or something it seems that it's been deleted. I'll give 'er another go.

The line below was meant to hint that it was not serious.

Well it backfired and it made you sound like a pretentious douche or a twelve-year-old, can't decide which.

Yes it was flawed but I didn't like the idea of giving the title of best FPS to a particular game when there are still others that I didn't get the chance to examine. Saying best implies fact to me anyway, rather than favourite which implies opinion. My answer is flawed because the question itself is flawed.

No it's not. He asked to what game the "GREATEST SHOOTER GAME AWARD" went. Great is usually defined as "influential", while "Good" is defined as "of the highest quality". Perfect Dark may be the "best" shooter ever in terms of quality (which I disagree with because there's so many great, well polished games and quality is objective anyhow) but it isn't the "greatest" shooter, simply because no one talks about it any more and it hasn't made a lasting impression on the industry.

Any proof of that? Not that I would be surprised and I wouldn't expect most reviewers or games to be like that.

No real proof of it bust still it makes sense. How else can such games as CoD get the reviews they get?

Wow, sounds like someone got a lot of sand in their vagina today.

Pot, stop calling the kettle black.

Of course I understand that trying to make facts out of art forms is quite ridiculous as there are plenty of opinions mixed in.

You contradicted your own argument. Rating a subjective media in an objective way is a logical fallacy in and of itself.

That and the fact that big game companies pay extremely high sums of money to independent game reviewers to give their games a good review. You can't trust what IGN or Gameinformer says anymore.

posted a message on Flan's Mod 5.5.2 Update : 1.12.2, 100s of new Skins! : Helicopters, Mechas, Planes, Vehicles, 3D Guns, Multiplayer, TDM, CTF
All in all this is a great mod that I am proud to have installed, but it can use some things that I would think would improve it.

    First off, pic related:

For example, the M1 Carbine takes a magazine, and the M1 Garand takes a clip. Fix these. If you need help PM me about it.

Second: The magazine/clip system is a bit funky. Here's a system I propose to fix it.

Detailed explanation and example of this system.:

Instead of loading a clip/mag into a gun you have a clip/mag that has rounds (damage) taken away from it sitting in your inventory. What I suggest doing is instead of having a clip/mag item deteriorate, have the clip/mag item contain a damage value of it's own. When the reload function is called, and the gun is magazine-fed (i'll get to clip-fed in a moment) have the mag in the weapon switch with a mag in the inventory, and deposit the mag that was in the weapon in the inventory.

I have 1 unloaded M1 Carbine and 3 magazines for it, magazines A, B, and C. The unloaded M1 is a different item with a different ID than the loaded M1. All 3 magazines have damage values of 15.

I load Magazine A into the M1 carbine by pressing R, which switches the unloaded M1 Carbine weapon to a loaded M1 Carbine with a different ID and a damage value of 15.

I shoot 10 rounds out of my M1 carbine, which leaves the damage value at 5, and I desire to reload it. I reload using the R key (for example), which takes Magazine B and loads it into the M1 Carbine, topping the M1 Carbine off at 15 rounds, and puts Magazine A into my inventory, which has a damage value of 5.

I shoot 5 rounds out of Magazine B, and desire to reload my M1 carbine again. I press R and load Magazine C in, leaving my M1 Garand with 15 rounds and 2 magazines with 5 and 10 rounds left, respectively.

If I wanted to combine the capacities of two magazines, I could craft them together.

For example, I could craft together Magazine A with 5 rounds with Magazine B which has 10 rounds. This would give me Magazine A with 15 rounds and Magazine B with 0 rounds.

Why would I want a magazine with 0 rounds might you ask?

Well, the reason is simple. Magazines can be reused. Just load the magazine up with loose rounds of its caliber.

For example, I could load Magazine B with 15 loose rounds of .30 Carbine.

The Weapon Boxes, instead of allowing you to craft just filled magazines, should allow you to craft empty magazines and loose rounds.

Third: I don't know how the bullet system works in your mod, but I'd suggest adding a dedicate ballistics system instead of "damage values". If the system already works like this, great. If not, change it.

    A bit on damage:

Don't use Call of Duty as a source for weapons knowledge. It's extremely unrealistic. That doesn't make it a bad game (It's unrelated stuff that makes it terrible in my eyes) but it doesn't mean it isn't a shitty place to acquire weapons knowledge.

Conventional plate armor, no matter what material it's made of short of modern materials such as kevlar and ceramics, doesn't protect too much against gunshots. There's a reason why knights in shining armor died out with the advent of gunpowder weaponry.

More damage is done to an enemy if the shot hits the torso or head than the extremities.

Any cartridge should kill a humanoid instantly if they are hit in the head. Pistol, rifle, Anti-Tank Explosive, etc.

Pistols should kill in 4-5 shots if the rounds hit the torso, rifles should kill in 1-2.

SMGs use the same cartridges as pistols. The Thompson uses .45 ACP, the Sten and the MP40 both use 9x19mm. The damage done by a pistol cartridge doesn't magically increase tenfold because it's used in an SMG. Not to say there isn't an increase in muzzle velocity and accuracy, but it's not huge. Keep this in mind.

The pistol cartridges should all have very similar damage values, with lower damage values if the shot hits the extremities, normal damage if the shot hits the center of mass (upper torso). and instant kills if the shot hits the "head" (at least on humanoids, mobs with thick skulls like (theoretically) the Enderdragon should have similar values as shooting the center of mass, and creatures with simple nervous systems such as the Spider should linger on a bit before dying from a headshot)

    Fourth: Minor name changes.

Change the name of the MP-44 to the StG-44. MP-44 is a less often used term and most people know the rifle as the Stg-44.

I'll add weapons suggestions in a different post.

Don't mean to be a circlejerking faggot but I'm gonna have to agree with my friend Tech on this one. I'm gonna focus on FPS, since I could go for days on the merits of top-down arcade shooters such as Galaga and 1942. Don't even get me started on danmaku shooters, CAVE games, Radiant Silvergun, Ikaruga (as begrudgingly as it is, it has to be mentioned) Touhou etc.

DOOM, Quake, Wolfenstein, Goldeneye etc. don't need to be mentioned, because their name alone is enough to explain how ****ing amazing they were.

Valve did gaming a great deed by creating the Half-Life series, which showed that an FPS could be immersive and story-driven, creating some of the first story-oriented campaigns which have been abused by the likes of every modern shooter. Single Player takes precedent, if you want to make a multiplayer-oriented game you don't need to include single-player. Counter-Strike doesn't have a ****ing campaign to speak of (who remembers condition zero's campaign?) but it does fine.
Speaking of Counter Strike, It's pretty much the best multiplayer shooter series of all time, taking the elements of older games like Quake and adding its own touch which makes it fun to play again and again. You can literally play the same map over and over again, and each and every time it feels like a different game. I haven't played the original but CS:S remains one of my favorite shooters just because it remains so fun even after all this time. It really is better than TF2, even though I ****ing love TF2.

The S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series takes the cake for me in terms of atmospheric RPG shooters. Shadow of Chernobyl was extremely immersive. Being in X16 with no 5.45x39mm left and having to knife the dwarf in the face to get out alive constitutes one of the most frightening moments in gaming history, **** that makes the water monster in Amnesia look like a happy puffball. GSC Game World did a fantastic job on the game, even though it took them 7 years and they still didn't get in everything they wanted. Who cares? GSC Game world was a small, almost indie game development company in Ukraine, that proved even after the likes of Halo (although Halo:CE for the PC is a ****ing great game, well polished and tons of fun) and CoD there were still some companies that cared about the game industry and wanted to ship a game with some real soul to it. In terms of FPS games with RPG elements S.T.A.L.K.E.R. kicks the **** out of anything Bethesda has ever made, even though the Elder Scrolls series is ****ing amazing (not event talking about just Skyrim, Morrowind and Oblivion are better in my opinion.)

Battlefield is another great series, even though BF3 is one of the weakest entries. BF2, BF:1942, BF: Bad Company, and others solidify it's standing as a series to be remembered. Games like BF:BC and BF:BC2 weren't just good for their multiplayer, which most games try to be anymore, but had a memorable campaign held together not by action or "awesomeness" but by comedy. Their campaigns are good not because they're serious, but because they're so non-serious they're a blast to play.

If anything, the only CoD games that should be put on a list of good anything are CoD 1, 2, and 4. (3 was OK, but got a bit boring after a while).

Oh forgot to mention Metroid Prime. I haven't played it in forever but it still deserves a place on here. Proof that Nintendo can't be skipped over when in a discussion about FPS games. It was probably hard to believe that a sidescrolling shooter could become such a good FPS game.

Perfect Dark has the highest score that I know of any shooter in Metacritic. Making it the best.

"Oh look at me, I can't form my own opinions so I have to go with the aggregated opinions of a whole bunch of people I don't know." ~ You.

Just the sort of **** I'd expect from a ponyfag. Have you even played Perfect Dark?

posted a message on We need minecraft 1.0.1 again
The thing is when you guys specify your favorite patch you don't specify if it's Minecraft Indev, Infdev, Alpha or Beta, so it kind of makes it hard to tell.

Personally if I were to backdate I'd have to backdate to pre-halloween update Alpha, which appears to be Alpha 1.1.2

Oh yeah now I remember, it took me a while to remember exactly what patch it was but seeing it jogged my memory. Ah man, that was a good patch. Minecraft seemed to have reached the pinnacle of it's perfection, and personally I could've given less of a **** about biomes. The forums were just ****ing orgasming all over with the biomes, it was crazy.

I remember first seeing the Nether Portal preview on PC Gamer. That **** was impressive, building a gate and having it suddenly open up some strange **** when you set it on fire.

Ah yeah, and when Notch was changing the name of the dimension from Hell to something else, he went through a variety of names. He was gonna call it "The Slip" first, and I remember seeing some sneak-peek footage of the realm being called The Slip somewhere, but I'll find it later.

That **** was crazy though man, it was this new awesome epic dimension of burning hellfire and ****. I was playing on a legit world for a while, so I didn't get the chance to build a slipgate until I found diamonds on that world, (I wasn't all that aware of the Lava Moulding technique at the time.) so I got to the party late. I didn't mind though, it was crazy entering for the first time.

Oh man ****ing nostalgia all over...

Also no offense to the wonderful guys at Curse but I liked the forums better when they weren't running them.

posted a message on Anyone not impressed with 1.9 so far?
This same **** happened back in 1.4 with the introduction of Wolves. Too many goddamn people complained that wolves weren't "the direction" that Minecraft needed. Who gives a ****? They were neat, at least for a while. I personally can't find a use for the ****ers anymore, even though I still love having a dog companion. Same thing with all this Adventure Update business. The Endermen were neat for about a day after 1.8 came out, but then you realized the ****ers were insanely easy to kill and that took half of the fun out of them. Hell, the most significant things to come out of the Adventure Updates in my opinion were the bow animations and the re-implementation of the forward 3rd-person view ala F1+F5 in the days of old.

But is that necessarily a bad thing? Half of the reason Minecraft got as popular as it is is because Minecraft had a feeling to it that no matter how many updates occurred or how much stuff was added it always felt like the same game, and that's the beauty of Minecraft. This isn't the first time Minecraft's had a major overhaul. Classic to Indev, Infdev to Halloween Update, Beta to Adventure Updates, Minecraft has been fundamentally changed in so many ways. In fact, some of the worst updates ever to come to Minecraft were things that ****ed around with the existing feel, such as the bland Cobblestone texture in 1.7 and changing the metal blocks from having three textures to one (which was pretty much balanced by the space freed up and how that space was taken advantage of).

What Minecraft players are complaining about these days are moot points. Minecraft's always gonna be that Cave Game that one swedish guy made. No matter how much it changes Minecrafters will never stop placing cobblestone and making giant golden dicks in the center of town, and that's what I love about it.
