I had an idea for the trapped chest: create a trapped chest that will only set off a row of TNT after you've closed the lid. Like you've opened it, realized your mistake, and your options are to close it and detonate the TNT or to just wait and live. This is basically just a proof of concept. I don't know if this has been invented already, but here it is.
Dont play SMP then... Everyone will use these features so you will see them everywhere xD (Note: with everyone i mean almost everyone)
Also you say that they are non blocky... I dont get it... I think everything looks blocky as hell
Like I said, I accept that they are a part of the game, none of them bother me enough to stop playing SMP. And yes, they're blocky, of course! I just mean that they take on new, more detailed shapes than we usually see in the game. Again, not a terrible, nor game-breaking feature, just not what I'd necessarily lend my support to.
Jeez, it feels like I have to be extremely on the defensive side when posting, lest my disapproval be misjudged as complaining.
Why can't people just enjoy the game. You aren't forced to use any of the features, so stop complaining about them
Did I sound like I was complaining? Maybe if you weren't a violently loyal fanboy foaming at the mouth over anyone "bad mouthing" a feature, you would see that I am merely stating my opinion on them. Just because my opinion isn't the same as yours doesn't mean I'm compaining. I'd urge you to reread this part of my post:
This all being said, I am fully aware that these are being added, and I can accept that. They're not game-breaking, they're optional, and they are fairly useful for some decorators. I may or may not use them in the future, and I accept that not everyone will agree with my views on them - and that's okay. These are just my feelings on the new announced blocks.
I'm going to come forward and just say that I, for one, am not in support of this addition. Actually, to be fair, I'm having a great deal of reservations toward some of the decorative additions they've been announcing. Here's my breakdown:
- Corner Stairs: I could not tell you why, but this just doesn't strike me the right way. It's always seemed more natural within Minecraft to not have corner stairs. The whole 1/8 block chunk just kinda takes away from the pleasant blockiness. Now, before you all jump to say "Well, what about repeaters? What about this? What about that?", I know it's been done before, but the stairs have always seemed natural the way they were, and from jeb's comment, I think he may feel the same way.
- Picture frames: I support these, no question.
- Flower pots: I think they are superfluous and unnecessary. I suppose it can look nice, but what I feel is that it, like corner stairs, is a purely aesthetic addition that detracts from the low-res blockiness. Useful non-blocky blocks, I can accept. But it irks me when they make decorative blocks that aren't blocky. It feels like the entire dynamic and path of the game is drifting ever so slightly away from chunky to a more smoothed out appearance.
-Cobble fences: Superfluous, but ultimately benign. I'd not have added them, but I don't feel like it's terribly detrimental to have them added to the game.
-Dyable Armor: I suppose this will be useful in pvp servers, but I don't know that it was necessary to open it up to any combination of hundreds of different colors via the whole Fx00000 thing. I'd have liked to have seen it limited to the available dye colors, but I suppose it's not a terrible thing to have more color options.

Silverfish, contradicting the picture that i've observed on the OP's post; That is a HOUSE CENTIPEDE, not a silverfish. Just to make that clear for everyone.
Lamentably, I haven't a server that runs on the snapshots. So I can't test it, and I also don't have the program nor the motivation to make a video of it. If anyone does test and film it, I'd be very grateful.
With the addition of the new "Redstone Lamps", I decided to toy around with them. Long story short, I built a blink machine that hooked up to Redstone Lamps and flipped the switch. It caused a sharp decrease in FPS, which immediately subsided when i deactivated it. I'd like to see how it would function to grief servers and cause lag. It seems extremely effective.
Here's how I made it:
Layer 2 (top)
Layer 1 (Bottom)
Glass is a lamp, flower is redstone dust, torch is a redstone torch, and the log is whatever solid block you want.
Well... okay, the Slime is a bohrok. Unfortunately, though I completed the texture itself, I don't know how to organize it within the image so it will appear correctly.
Edit: Honestly, I'm thinking 32x might be easier for this...
oh ok...
what i was talking about wasnt just making it lighter i want EVERYTHING changedl. like insted of dark greeen zombies i want pale white insted of dark pink neatherrack i want it to be bright orange or somthing.
I see what you mean. You could always try Jolicraft. It's a spectacular pack that brightens everything. Forgive my hesitation to do your idea, I just want to completely revamp it. I mean, I don't even want netherrack to be netherrack. I want to change everything, not just the textures, but make the whole Minecraft world a different experience. I don't just want to redo same textures. I'm aiming for what Glimmar's Steampunk and Last Days do: make it a new experience with a whole new story.
I am preparing to make a 16x texture pack, and need some inspiration. If someone proposes a particular theme (especially if they propose a good way to reinvent the nether) I will make a texture pack for them. Keep in mind, I am only making one texture pack at this time, so the best suggestion gets made. I have adequate skill in making textures, but the 16 bit is non-negotiable. When I get better, maybe I'll start scaling up.
And it can be as weird, as bizarre, as trippy, or as downright sill as you like. If it sounds good, I'll do it.
Guys, this texture. Seriously guys, look at this texture pack. This texture pack. Guys. Seriously. It's awesome. This texture pack is awesome. Guys, seriously, look at this awesome texture pack. This texture pack. It is awesome.

Also, am I forgetting any?

Thank you much, glad that it's not just me. I'd love to see its effects on a server.

... Dude, do you know how much I loved Bionicles when I was little? You are definitely getting considered, good sir.

Well, that's simple, really. I'm going for a full texture overhaul. Have you been using the gamma slider?
