I'm glad you're back, I was always curious about how they were allowed to make money off of your work when you were gone and wasn't sure if you transferred ownership or anything. I guess the answer was they just weren't and stole it, they've probably made more than bank to cover their conscience about it though.
I really hope you get rightfully compensated in some way, you are surely owed big digits.
The Bedrock Edition dev team is one of the most stubborn I've ever seen. They still wont add quasi-connectivity despite how many people have been begging them to. They don't care what the community thinks, they won't listen. They will just continue to further their Microtran$action$. Sad truth.
OptiFine isn't for Pocket Edition, also, no. Minecraft: Java Edition is literally running on Java. It can't be anything but a .jar, and that's not how Java works. If you're downloading OptiFine from the official website there is nothing to worry about.
Hope this isn't considered necroing, as I'd really like for this thread to stay alive; but there's also a 1.7.3 release for Biomes O' Plenty from 2014.

Everybody knows it, but believe me;

I'm certain this can be done, I'm currently using a Resource Pack that changes the UI completely to be more like Java Edition.
Removing the store icons seems like it'd just be an extension of that.

Any chance of an update for the beta version of 1.2/Better Together on Minecraft Bedrock/W10 Edition?

What do you mean? You can run b1.7.3 through the current launcher, or MultiMC.
