Fixing common problems
2. The ModLoader has to be first in the mods list, use the button Up to move it to first position. ModLoader is not needed if Forge 4.0 or newer is installed.
3. Then come (if you need them) ModLoaderMP and Forge.
4. Then come the rest of the mods and last comes OptiFine. Only one OptiFine edition may be active as they overwrite each other.
5. Do not forget to start with a clean minecraft.jar. If it is already modified or patched, then some mods may not work correctly.
6. A mod should appear either in the internal or the external mod list, but not in both at the same time.
7. Mods which have status "No mods found" needs to be repackaged to be used. The mod ZIP file usually have a folder "put_in_minecraft_jar" or similar which contains one or more files like "acx.class". The contents of this folder have to be zipped in a separate ZIP file and added as an internal mod. This solution works with almost all problematic mods.
8. If you get an error "No accelerated mode found" or "Bad OpenGL drivers" you may try running Minecraft with less memory. Go to "Setup -> Advanced", enter 256 in the field Memory and test again. This helps with some integrated graphics cards.

Gonna try to get back into CTMs by playing the jam maps. Will be streaming for fun, probably with no viewers. :3

All of the links for Tricky Treat are broken for me. They just link straight back to the forum page. Otherwise, I'm gonna have a go at this one. I'm particularly excited for the 1.9 one. I wanna see if you can figure out how to balance it. I think mini-maps may be easier to balance with 1.9.
1
Community Question: What do you think of the changes in 1.9?
My opinion:
1. The combat is not any worse, it's just different. The sword is still the best weapon; they've balanced out the other tools.
2. The regen is also not worse, but simply different. I think a lot of people will have to see it in effect (in CTM maps) to see how it works better, but for now, let me explain a bit. First off, you won't need more food unless you take more damage. The amount of regen is relative to food eaten as well as damage taken. So unless you take an abnormal amount of damage, you won't eat more food. Second, because eating food still takes time, you won't be able to just sit down and eat with a bunch of monsters surrounding you. The best decision is still to back up and make sure you're safe.
3. Everything else seems pretty cool to me. I like the idea of an area using the new frost walker enchantment.

Thanks for backing me up on this one.
Yeah, I really don't know exactly what it was, Krose. Just the overall feel of the map turned me off. And I was really surprised because I loved Skyward Ascent. Maybe it was the sparse loot. I'm fine with insanely difficult, but there were some parts of the map that I didn't even bother exploring because it just wasn't worth it. Facing off against five spawners for one meager loot chest just doesn't make sense to me. Perhaps it was the long areas. I found some of the early areas a bit stretched for my tastes. I'm glad you updated the map for me, but I'm just not feeling it. Thanks a bunch anyways. Perhaps it was some of the custom mobs. I don't think there were enough arrows to deal with some of the early mobs where ranged combat would be optimal (such as the shiny and the poisonous mobs), therefore forcing the player to engage in an annoying and grindy loop. For me this was: Get spawners to light up, step back, deal with mobs, wait until sufficiently healed, and then run in and destroy the spawner. This process would sometimes take several minutes. Engaging work you have to focus on is fun. Monotonous work you don't have to focus on can also be fun (Cookie Clicker and the like). Monotonous work you have to focus on is not fun, and because the map began feeling like that to me, I resolved to set it aside for a while. I might return to the map later, but right now I'm just not up for that kind of thing.
Also, I noticed the custom mobs as well, kaladun. Hopefully that'll be changed in his next map.

1. Go here: http://files.minecraftforge.net/
2. Choose the version you want to use.
3. Download the file using the "Installer" button.
4. A .jar file should appear in your Downloads folder. Double-click it.
5. When the screen comes up, select "Install client".
6. Once it finishes, you may have to load up the Forge profile once, so go ahead and do that.
7. Close Minecraft.
8. Press Windows+R to open up Run. If you're using Mac, use the equivalent (I have no idea what).
9. Type in "%appdata%".
10. Open up .minecraft, then mods.
11. Now, all you have to do is download the .jar versions of the mods you want. They may be labeled "Forge-Compatible".
12. Once you have your mods downloaded, put them all into the Mods folder. Make sure they are all .jars, otherwise they won't work properly.
13. After that, you should be home-free. Just remember that if you want to switch versions, you have to download Forge for that version (only one time), and use the appropriate profile. Also remember to take out mods for one version if you're using another, as this prevents problems.
