Yeah, place lots of torches around all the trees around your farm and you'll decrease the chance of spiders spawning at night near you.

I like the Mesa biome the most, I guess because it's the most dramatic biome addition to this new update.

I don't think those work that way. You should look up wither skeletons on the minecraft wiki and read up more on them to see how their spawning works.

I thought I notice performance decrease as well but I thought it might have just been me. I know Jeb re-wrote some of the code that handles NBT files, but I think it was to increase performance, not the other way around.

One time, I went mining, found emeralds near coal ores. My inventory was fool so I mined the coal instead and never looked back. Best decision ever made.

I prefer how hard it is now. As someone mentioned above, it's a lot more realistic now (not that zombies are real). If zombies were real, this is how they would act.

We have an open cops and robbers map on one of our servers. Even have a Mumble server :).

This is more of a rare occurrence via item. I used a Zombie Spawn Egg yesterday and it spawned a Zombie with full leather armor. I thought nothing of it until someone else spawned about 100 of them with an egg as well and none had full leather armor.

Seems like a very general idea. Also, having a ball in Minecraft to toss around almost seems impossible even with plugins, you would probably have to have mods installed instead.

Yeah, it seems like that chunk refused to save or it got corrupted, so Minecraft just rewrote the chunk using the seed. I recommend enabling auto-save like someone mentioned. Or running /save-all to force save as you're working on your project. Also, would love for you to build on our server, we have friendly members, 0 griefing, and no butthole admins :).
