Dear notch,
I need new pants after the latest update. I appear to have soiled the ones i am currently wearing due to the new ambient cave noises. They were vigorously frighting.

ONTOPIC: seriously, these sounds are scary, Especially when you hear a zombie on the other side of a wall.
So essentially, you are against server owners creating a game environment which pleases them and want everyone to play your own ideal version of Minecraft? Why not let everyone else find/make a server that is how they want to play while you do the same? There seem to be plenty on both sides so I see no reason why there won't be a variety of servers.
No, he is against server owners making themselves god because it makes the gameplay unchanging, and thus eventually boring.
I won't grief. I won't destroy pretty things. If I find a small village with badly protected chests out in the open,I'll steal their stuff, though. I may also try digging around houses or under floors in hopes of finding hidden chests. If I find a badly protected area full of wooden houses,I may set it on fire at night. Making something big out of wood is just begging for destruction. If I don't set it on fire, someone else will. But for the most part I won't run around killing people and destroying stuff for the lulz.
I plan on robbing people in large cities with well-defended chests. Its far more fun that way, and their chests will most likely have better loot.
That's the biggest contributing factor right there, and the most true part of your argument. Why would someone go spelunking when his neighbor has already done so? Why not just take what you need? The worst is going to be people who are in groups of bandits. A small battalion of 5 people could clear out a village in minutes. The question here is not weather anarchy is easy, but rather, will it always triumph? Who's to say that a small village can't be civilized, resisting anarchy and bandits alike. civilization is not based around the promise of loot or the need for protection, its based in the dedication of it's members. I'm more than sure we will find capable, dedicated leaders to lead us into the future.
If there were land claim flags i could see some openings for real greifing. Yeah, people destroying your stuff sucks, but what happens when someone decides to put one of these down at your sand mine, your tree farm, or next to a diamond ore, JUST for the sole reason of pissing you off? Even worse, someone builds a giant penis with a flag on it across from your base, do you really want to waste all your tnt to blow it up?
I will have my base normal, No traps no defences. But when someone blows it up or steals from it. I will go working non stop until I get some good resources like diamonds and iron again, and then hire Bounty Hunters to make the theives life hell.
Not to different from me, im not going to go out of my way to hid my stuff, just the common sense things like building underground and the such. But when someone crosses me i plan on chasing them to the ends of the earth to make sure they know not to do it again.
One of the big reasons i prefer free-for-all is because you can kill people who are bothering and pestering you. If there was a rule against killing people, i would have to sit back and spam messages to the OP while someone ruined my stuff rather that taking a more direct approach and killing them myself.
At your post Trapiki, I believe punishment systems should be in place that your crime is equal to your punishment. Stealing things means you have to give them back and something more. Killing means you are executed. Assault means beatings. Of course there are crimes which cannot be returned, so there would be generalized punishments (fines?)

that's implying the criminal is caught and cooperative, which i think will rarely happen.
There is absolutely no griefing in multiplayer. Therefore, no griefers. There are only thieves and vandalists. If someone's bugging you, kill them. If your foretress is too big to protect, you're a moron and you should build a smaller/more hidden/more protected foretress. If you can't kill the person bugging you, you're a moron and you should stock up and get skilled before building gold and diamond huts on top of hills in plain sight of everything. If someone sets fire to your wooden house, build it out of stone. If someone mines through your stone house, kill them before they get the chance. If you have to log out, grab everything valuable and keep it in your inventory. Detatch yourself from your selfish desires to have a home on every server and let other people use it or utilize the resources.
There is absolutely no griefing in multiplayer survival. If you can't survive while people try and rob you or mess with you, play creative mode or singleplayer survival.
Don't name call now :wink.gif: if a castles too big to protect, how are they a moron? they were smart enough to design/build it. also i agree to no such thing as multiplayer griefers "to an extent" i mean if they just kill and burn ect. then hey their trying to hurt others with no self "physical" gain, so their maybe a "griefer" but i dont use that term loosely
the perpetrator does may not not gain from the act, but i'm sure someone will gain from it eventually. if i burned down all the trees, someone is going to be glad there is flat ground. in the end, someone will benefit.

I not completly sure, but now that they can make noises other than UGH, i think they have developed a language and are plotting against you.

if we had competent admins people would not even be considering things like land-claim flags.
