Ok so, at first I thought maybe this was because I was on rev 0, and NEI sync was dependent on auto crafting somehow, but I've since switched to rev1 (beta), and it's still happening. Hopefully, someone else has seen this, and has a solution.

Sometimes while using the crafting terminal and searching via NEI sync mode, NEI seems to lose it's search/filter functionality. In other words, it will show whatever matches the search at the time it stopped working, but you can't change it. You can still type in the search box, and you can look through the filtered list, but you can no longer remove the filter or refine it further.

This never happened with NEI before I started using the AE2 crafting terminal, so I have to assume it has something to do with the interaction between AE2 and NEI, and the syncronized searching.

So far, the only way I've found to reset it back to normal is to restart minecraft completely. So, a couple of questions:

Does anyone know a fix for this?

Does anyone know what precisely causes it to stop working, so maybe I can try to avoid doing that (though I'm sure I'll narrow it down on my own)?

Note I have verified I'm using the latest AE2 rev1 beta jar, as well as the latest NEI and codeChickenCore jar. I haven't noticed anything in the log, but since it isn't actually a crash, I'm not sure there will be anything. I'll keep looking.

It's a shame, really. You just need to learn to not let random people on the Internet, whom you'll never meet, get to you. I've been reading most of this thread all day from the beginning, and noticing many times people complaining that it's not like AE1, or whining about this or that not being in, or the mod being to0 hard, and honestly, you should just let them whine. If you were to answer, the best would along the lines of 'RTFT (read the F*ing thread), already been answered', or better, just ignore them. Often as not, someone else would answer pretty much that exact thing for you. You have to remember, many of the people that post on these threads are literally children, and just don't know any better. You gotta let crap like that roll off your back.

Anyway, awesome mod. I too thought it was too complicated and too difficult at first, which is why I never really bothered to try it until recently. I just got my first ME network up and running last night, and I have to say, it was totally worth it. No more looking through dozens of chests for that particular crafting material, only to miss it, and have to look through every chest again. No more constantly re-emptying my overflowing inventory of crap that I'll probably have to find again in a few minutes. I took a room packed to the brim with chests that weren't organized at all, and emptied it all into a single interface. I can now pull up crafting recipes with NEI, shift click the ? and craft almost anything as if all the ingredients were right in my inventory, which stays empty! I still have a long way to go automating using machines other than the standard crafting table like that, but already my quality of life in Minecraft is magnitudes better than it was, so thank you for that!

Fact is, I managed to get this completed in a fairly reasonable time (I just created this world on Saturday), and had no idea what I was doing. Within a few more run-throughs, I'll have this basic setup within hours. So on retrospect, no, it's not too difficult. It's a challenge, but it's a fair challenge.

Sorry to hear you're hanging it up, especially given the circumstances of all the negativity on the thread. I hope you'll consider still taking on some help to share the load, but stick with it as lead, or something. Whatever you do, it's really great work, and a really great tool that makes using other mods better. even if it can be difficult for people to see it easily.

From the perspective of someone who IS new to Minecraft, I can easily see where you're coming from. It's a total sense of wonder and amazement for me still. I don't really know what I'm doing, but I'm quite enjoying learning. I've also been through this phenomenon in other games, even entire genre, and I'm not alone. There are millions of people out there trying out every new MMO that comes out hoping the re-capture the feeling they had when they first started playing their first MMO. Minecraft is the closest I've come to that. It's different of course, but the sense of wonder is actually pretty close.

Oh, and I TOTALLY lost my first diamonds in lava, too.

Support with the caveat that the default is stackable.

Personally, I'm not a fan of pretending that tedium = difficulty, but have no issue with people that do. I'm always in favor of options, even ones I don't particularly care for -as long it it's OPTIONAL.

posted a message on Q about Forge Micro Blocks?
Yep, I figured it out. Browsing through, I saw some saw blocks that actually did have recipes in NEI, and through trial and error, have discovered most of the recipes for the Microblocks. The blocks are amazing for making your house look presentable, yet still have power and logistical transport systems. I can hide everything behind the walls and floors. Not sure why most of the recipes aren't showing up in NEI, though.

    Thanks for the help!

Great mod! I am having some issue with the teleporter, though. Everything seems right, both teleporters are set to the same frequency, they both have power, both show a status of "idle" when outisde of them, and "ready" when I step onto them. Only problem is, I just don't get teleported. Nothing happens. Also, portable telporter doesn't work either. It shows as ready, I can push the Teleport button, but nothing happens.

I've looked through the config. but didn't see anything.

As I understand it, I should teleport when I step through, right?

posted a message on Q about Forge Micro Blocks?
I have these blocks in my NEI listing, and the mod they are listed under is "Forge Micro Blocks". I've played around with them in creative, and they work great! I've been looking for a way to hide wiring in a wall without making it 3 blocks thick, and I'm amazed at how well they perform this.

My problem is that in Survival, no recipes seem to come up for them. Is there no way to make them in survival? Is there any way to get them? I'd prefer to get them legitimately, but they really work so good for what I want to do, I'm tempting to get them any way possible.

If they can't be crafted legitimately, can someone recommend a mod with similar blocks that can be crafted in survival?

For your recipes, the Not Enough Items mod provides a searchable recipe UI. For me, it's one of those "must-have" mods.

Wow, that did it. It never occurred to me there would be a way to toggle the interface on and off. I knew it would be something simple, but at least now I know! Thanks!

posted a message on Lost my NEI interface
So, in the middle of playing Minecraft last night, I noticed that I no longer had a search bar in my crafting interface, nor the filtered items on the right side.. It had been there earlier, but then when I went to look up the next thing I wanted to craft, it was just gone. I hadn't crashed, and there was no error message, it just disappeared- there one minute, gone the next. I tried restarting the game, then restarting the PC even, with no luck.

In my mod list, NEI and chickencode core are both still showing.

Any ideas? Any suggestions on things to look for?

posted a message on Q about mods that add spawned items
I have searched but haven't found anything, and honestly not sure how to put this question into an effective search. I'm pretty new to Minecraft, and have just recently started playing around with mods. One of the mods I am using is Mekanism, which among other things, introduces new ores into the game, like Osmium. While playing in a world that I had started before installing the mod, I have not been able to find this ore anywhere, but after starting a brand new world, it seems pretty common.

I'm assuming that the mod had to have been installed at the time the world was generated in order for it to add spawned items, such as ores that are not part of the vanilla game. Is that correct, and if so, is there any way around the issue?

I'm wondering since I will no doubt find other mods I want to try in the future. Will I need to create a new world every time in order to get the most out of them? With Mekanism, without the Osmium, there's really no way to make anything else. I'm guessing that's going to be pretty common with other mods.
