    I'm attempting to create a public modpack with Rotarycraft (plus electricraft/reactorcraft) and Galacticraft at it's core. I think my approach at balance is a bit weird. Basically I'm trying to completely change how and where ores are generated. For example:


    Moving magnetite ore to Proteus, one of Neptune's moons (through "custom ore generation: first revival" mod.) This would encourage players to progress through Galacticraft. They'd need to explore 6 other planets, defeat the respective dungeon bosses, and finally make their way to Proteus. Magnetite ore would be much more rare, but in much larger deposits.

    However, if the player doesn't want to go to Proteus. They can explore lava-rich biomes in the overworld for a low quality version of magnetite (through "poor ores" mod). Poor ore yields much less than regular magnetite. Or, the player can create the ore with the "Matter Overdrive" mod, which take considerable infrastructure and a considerable amount of power to produce a single ore block.


    I think that lets me reward players for exploring space by making it VERY worth the effort. However I still give them a way around that. It definitely changes how they can progress through Rotarycraft. Making a fusion reactor would be much more difficult without going there. Same for the turbine generator. The magnetic ore finder would be fairly easy to make in the overworld, but it's not the most useful item there anyway (better deposits of iron in space).


    So would that be o.k. to do, or would I be overstepping my bounds as a modpack maker?


    I'm not asking for modpack permission yet. I still need to do much more testing. I want to find how all the ore gen changes affect Rotarycraft so I can make that clear to players. I also gotta make sure I can tell you about the possible effects when I do ask for modpack permission.

    I figured it out after a lot of derping around with configs. To make Custom Ore Gen populate ores on other planets, you have to go into the galacticraft's core.conf and change

    B:"Generate all other mods features on planets"=false

    to

    B:"Generate all other mods features on planets"=true


    It's worth noting that if you have buildcraft installed, you might end up with pools of oil on all the planets. That's easy enough to fix though. Also from the config file:

    If this is enabled, other mods' standard ores and all other features (eg. plants) can generate on the Moon and planets. Apart from looking wrong, this make cause 'Already Decorating!' type crashes.

    No change. Also tried upping it to 32 to no effect and use the CustomOreGen_Options.txt for that dimension to make sure. Might galacticraft handle world generation in an odd way?

    I've hit a bit of a snag. I can see the wireframe of my ores in game, but they won't actually get placed unless I use /CogPopulate. I've tried deleting the world, deleting the region folder, /CogLoadConfig, and starting a completely new world. Is there an equivalent to /CogPopulate in the .xml configs I might have forgotten?
    I can dig right into the wireframe and it's just stone. Then i tell it to populate and the ores show up. I gotta be missing something.


    PS: trying to change ore generation on the moon from Galacticraft.

    First off, I've never used python before. So I'm pretty clueless about this. I'm using windows 7 x64, downloaded python 2.79, and when i try to run sprocket i get this error:

    File "C:\Sprocket\sprocket.py", line 35, in <module>
    configFile = sys.argv[1]
    IndexError: list index out of range

    Is there something else i need to do before running sprocket?

    That is old info. He is working on an update for 1.6.x along with some other modders. You can find more up-to-date info on the FTB forums.

    ...and screw the UE website. Cal makes some neat mods, but looks like he wants everyone using the UE api to work on his modpack. I mean UE updates pretty fast, but he's not on the level of Azanor and Eloraam. I don't know the guy, it's just how it looks to me.

    but with Magic Launcher you can disable individual mods so I was messing around with that trying to trouble shoot it.



    my first guess would be be a conflict with optifine. try deleting lr.class from your control pack file. that will make the two mods compatible again.

    Without OptiFine, minecraft is almost unplayable for me. I'm very grateful for your work. Once I get off this kick of contract work and back into a stable job situation, i'm definitely going to start donating on a regular basis. Hoping to throw $50-100 your way soon as my budget is looking good.

    I think you deserve at least $50 in donations each time you have to update. You work hard and put up with a lot of crap. The community loves you and much of it needs you. I bet if the players had a little more say in the matter, both you and risugami would be working for mojang right now.

    i've gotten harvestcraft working before but i always got errors with the rest of pam's mods. tried putting the zip in the mods folder and putting the files directly in the craftbukkit jar. tried a few versions of modloadermp and forge from mcportcentral.

    i know i'm missing something. probly somethin simple.
