Could make so each item reduces speed by part of a whole. So if the maximum it slowed you down was by 20%, each item that caused slowing would only slow you down 5%.
Yeah I like your idea. It makes more sense than just a flat buff on leather armor.
First off I will say this, leather armor is kind of underpowered. Finding all the cows you need and then murdering them and crafting them into boots or chest plates can be a challenge unless you find a patch of cows. Leather armor isn't really even worth the adventure because it is also the worst armor. Here is my idea, leather armor gets a buff that gives the player a speed boost. Think of it though. Diamond Armor has the ability of making someone an amazing tank but can also chase down anyone they want then 3-shot people in leather. In real life you would most likely be able to run much faster with a piece of leather rather than a chunk of gold on you. This also allows variety to the game. It allows the people who are fans of a game for example assassin's creed to actually feel like an assassin while they jump across the trees in their speedy tights. It will also be beneficial for PvP in the fact that you can flank your enemies and then escape them if you are in near-death. Please consider the idea and maybe players of Minecraft really can become assassins.
