First off, I love seeing people complain about oceans being harder to find. Honestly, I hate coming across an ocean. Half the worlds I generate spawn me on an island. Even when It doesn't I hate exploring to find a village or something, coming across the ocean and having to turn around and go in a different direction. I'm glad oceans are harder to find(even though it still likes to spawn me on islands.)
Second, this is a good update from 1.6.4. New biomes, flowers, wood, saplings, fishing changes, new way to handle texture packs. It's nice and all..BUT...there's still things I wish they'd do.
I honestly wish they'd stop constantly adding new features, and go back to old features that need updating. Minecarts need more use. Redstone could really use an update(Dyable redstone, so you can put different colors next to each other and overlapping without effecting other colors? More redstone activated blocks?). Upgradable things like furnaces, and chests, for faster cooking, and better storage. New tools that are better than diamond, to give miners something to shoot for after diamond. New kinds of Bows/arrows. Even villages could really use some fixing so they don't spawn as screwed up as they usually do. Also, we REALLY need some kind of backpack item to expand our inventory, especially seeing how they insist on adding tons of new items and blocks constantly.
Even core stuff still needs to be worked on/fixed. Like the Mod API, and overall framerate. They add more and more stuff, which causes more and more lag. And the Mod API would probably go a lot faster if more people were helping with it rather than working on every other minor item and block they try to add.
I mean, I appreciate that Mojang are still putting out frequent updates, but I just wish they'd focus on more important/useful things, rather than 'pretty flowers' and biomes that aren't even that big of a change. Stuff already exists that could use working on, instead of adding more stuff that feels half-finished.

This Update doesn't really add a lot into Minecraft like 1.6 did,in fact it just adds tons of bug fixes..I think it should be called 1.6.3
Yes, let's not count the bunch of biomes and terrain generation changes. On top of that, 1.7 isn't even out yet, they still have time to add more.
Also, have pumpkins been made easier to find? I've been wandering around looking for the new biomes, and I've come across about 7-8 patches of pumpkins so far, and I haven't even gone very far yet. -

I'm sure they'll stop when people stop believing it. Stupidly enough, plenty of people still think Herobrine exists.. -

Even compared to 13w09a..i was just playing that snapshot the other day with an HD texture pack and no lag. Now trying 1.5, even with a 16x texture pack, I'm lagging a bit. And compared to 1.4.7, it's lagging a lot more for me. -
Jan 17, 2013TXF posted a message on 13w03a Ready for TestingHmm. One thing I noticed. HD textures work fine for blocks, but items still don't work properly. They work well enough, but they just don't look right, it looks like it usually does when you have an HD pack but no HD mod.Posted in: News

Jan 17, 2013TXF posted a message on 13w03a Ready for TestingMy favorite feature for these recent updates, has to be..Posted in: News
HD texture and animation support in Vanilla Minecraft. No more having to mess with MC Patcher or other HD fixes. I didn't even realize this was possible till I downloaded a texture pack and noticed it had custom water without the use of mods. I'm sure it was said, I just didn't pay attention. But it's honestly one of my favorite additions. Now if only "better grass" and "connected textures" and "random mobs" were added to vanilla. At least as options or something you could turn on/off. -
Jan 17, 2013TXF posted a message on 13w03a Ready for TestingI guess it's a decent update. I like being able to change texture packs in-game now without having to exit to the main menu every time. I tend to download a bunch of texture packs at once to try them out, and now I don't have to close and reopen my world a dozen times to try them. The dropper block I guess could be useful for people that need them. For most other people, I don't see it being very useful. I dunno what to do with the hopper either though, I'm not great with redstone stuff anyway.Posted in: News
I do wish they'd add some more things to this redstone update to automate farms and stuff. Possibly automated tree/wheat/netherwart/potato/carrot farms. Obviously they should require a bit of resources to get though, because I don't think you should be able to start off with an automated tree farm. It should be something you have to work towards. Possibly requiring obsidian/glowstone/nether brick/etc. -

It means there's possible tnt traps in the world. -
May 24, 2012TXF posted a message on Snapshot 12w21a Available for TestingQuite an enjoyable update. Only downside is from what I've heard, emerald ore is almost impossible to find(although I haven't checked). And someone mentioned a glitch with the tnt traps exploding too early. Not to mention I still don't like how you need a server file to play single player. Although since it didn't come with one, I'm hoping it's being changed in the next version or so.Posted in: News
And unlike a lot of people it seems..I like the new gravel texture. It'll take a bit to get used to, but I never really liked the old one.
Everything else is awesome.
I would like to know however, when basic MELON SEEDS, are going to be easier to get. I'd think by now, melons would be easier to find above ground. I don't think something as simple as melon seeds should be some overly hidden away treasure underground..they're melons. I'd think by now, they'd start spawning like pumpkins.. Or at least have them planted in villages along with wheat... Villages being more common would be nice too, especially now that trading is added. -
May 19, 2012TXF posted a message on Snapshot 12w19a is Ready For Testing!I..can't even use this snapshot. Maybe it's due to the login servers being down? But even trying to play single player, it says "Failed to connect to server. Connection refused: Connect"Posted in: News
My question, is why is it trying to connect to a server...if I'm playing in offline mode, on single player? -
Mar 11, 2012TXF posted a message on Bethesda Lawsuit Concludes, XBOX Preview, Community Spotlight - Savage RealmsWhat bothers me a bit about the multiplayer splitscreen video, is that.. I'd assume it's offline, right? Seeing as it's meant to be offline, between two people, on one tv. Yet I see weird internet-lag type stuff, where lighting doesn't update RIGHT away, or blocks take an extra half a second to disappear. That itself isn't bad, but if it's like that, it makes me wonder what else is laggy or off about it. And would it do the same if it was just basic single player, offline, without split screen?Posted in: News
Or I could be wrong all together, and it could be a LAN type of thing, where they're connected via two different 360s, but still.
I'm still curious how online servers will work. I'd really like to play with someone that lives quite a ways away from me on it. I can't do it on the PC version, because there's horrible lag due to the location differences. I would hope something like playing with people on the other side of the world would work at least a LITTLE better, and maybe be easier to set up the server in the first place. - To post a comment, please login.

As in not technically endless, but big enough to seem endless.

As for texture packs. I don't see them being added for a while anyway.
The way I see a texture pack being added, is through some kind of menu. Where people upload texture packs to an online website (on PC) and they get added to the XBLA version where you can download the one you want. As well as delete ones you don't want anymore.
I think mods could be done the same way... the only real problem I see with this, is that they'd have to keep them updated. Which doesn't always happen. So they'd have to be automatically deleted if they're outdated, or simply removed from the list until they're updated, then re-added to the list.

2: Maybe try the tutorial out..even though I know how to play it, just to see.
3: Maybe get my brother into it.
4: Play it some more.. WITHOUT LAG FOR A CHANGE...since my pc lags a bit with minecraft.
5: Spend a few minutes getting used to the new crafting menu.
6: Build my usual crappy wooden house to start and try to actually keep a single world for more than a week this time.
I actually always wanted to build a house, then kinda build a town around it. Then kinda expand as I go, turning it into a city eventually, etc. I just never get around to it. I tend to build a house, gather recources, then get bored and quit. Maybe I'll actually keep interest enough this time to actually get part of that done.

Couple things to make note of though, for people discussing this.
- They probably had the default "Steve" skin in videos and while playing the demos and stuff, simply due to not having a proper sign in or anything(assuming proper skins are in the game)
- If they have it so you can connect your minecraft account to your minecraft xbla account, and use that skin, the main site will have to be updated a bit, seeing as you can't edit your skin without buying a copy of the pc version of minecraft.
- I doubt it will use your 360 avatar, considering it doesn't fit with the game at all, and there's already videos of people use "Steve" as a character. (I believe one of the "minecraft rip-offs(as people call them)" tried the 360 avatar thing, and it looks really odd actually.)
My guess is that skins won't be implemented right away, and everyone will simply have to be Steve for a bit. Eventually an update would get released(along with the minecraft site being changed a bit) allowing you to use your minecraft account's skin.
Another fun option, which is simply an idea I think would be interesting, would be a skin editor. Where you get a basic 3D model of steve, and you get a pixel brush and can simply draw directly on it, then save the skin to your xbox and/or minecraft xbla account.

I would like to point out one simple thing people seem to forget around here though.. That since none of the people replying(myself included) work for Mojang, we have no way of knowing any information for sure. The only way to know for sure, is to just wait until it comes out. As info gets released, I'm sure it'll be updated on the main page, or in the FAQ thread above or something.

Not the BEST skin ever, but I'm fairly happy with it..It's only my 2nd skin(my first being my personal skin).. So I don't expect it to be perfect.
