Krodon posted a message on Why do we call it "donating" and is it moral?Posted in: DiscussionQuote from nivram
I have been using the internet since 1994-95. I hate it that the English dictionary has been changed by the internet, and people continue to try and change the meaning of words, abbreviate everything, and make words up.
So my thoughts. I hate it. IMHO
Marv
It's ironic because you're using a abbreviation in your post. Not disagreeing with the post, just pointing out the irony.
Quote from kanokarob
Because the person giving the perks in exchange for donation doesnt HAVE to give that stuff to donators. They do it because it encourages MORE donations. If they didnt give perks for the donations, they could expect half as many or fewer donations.
But that isn't donating, it's sort of bribing for money with a service (perks, coloured names, ect.) -

NONONONONO! Diamond is ICONIC! If you want to make diamond no longer the godtier, then think of it this way : Diamond has always been THE godtier, the status symbol. If you want to change that, get a mod. Don't ask us for support about changing one of the most iconic parts of minecraft. -

klitri posted a message on Why refer to gold as 'butter'? Gold ingots do not look, nor act like butter!Oh my goodness! All of you "butter" freaks stop it!Posted in: Discussion
This nonsense is getting out of hand, it's gold. The scripting says gold, it has a tag that says gold. Just because your "almighty god" skydoesminecraft somehow made an army of 12 year olds who like changing the name of things because of their looks does not mean normal players, like TVflea, me, and 9 other people and the rest of the sane people have to follow it.
I don't think anyone is obsessed with this topic, the title is "Why refer to gold as 'butter'?" so you most likely came to the topic to relate to it. If someone was calling the mods because of some 'butter' reference, then it's obsession.
Point is, it's not butter. If I have to delve into the games scripts and take pictures to prove it I will. -

It also in no way makes texturing easier. Instead of having one image, now I have 251.

Guess you'll be waiting along time
unless those class files write themselves.

Weekly snapshots are not .jar files that mojang releases to entertain you. They are previews of the new minecraft mojang is working on released to the public to find errors in the coding. They do not necessarily need to have cool new hostile mobs added or 'nice herobrine' that leads you to diamonds. Snapshots with only bug fixes are a good thing because it means you will be able to play minecraft properly and be creative than have a bunch of cool stuff, but not being able to even place it which was a bug fixed in one of the 'boring snapshots'.
You people should be thankful Jens is even updating.

All I'm saying is that we should still have some flat areas as well as mountains (with slopes). In many beta worlds, I saw many flat areas. All the same, flat.
And as for chaos's red paragraph, I never said anything like that. That's stupid and wouldn't solve anything. All I did was express my opinions.

I've been playing minecraft since beta 1.4 and i can tell you how happy i was when the new generation came out. The old generation sucked stuff stupid people suck.
I was once going from my shelter to a cave i found in what would now be a "ForestHill" and decided to go a desert since, living in Tucson, I thought that deserts are flat. Guess i was wrong. EVERY SINGLE CHUNK had some sort of formation that took me like 3 minutes to get through. What desert in the world would you see this?
The code genetation may be boring, but at least it's real.
See the difference? The old mountain has GRASS and TREEs and 50 BLOCK, GRAVITY DEFIEING OVERHANGS, while the real one is barren, stone covered and tall. you should know what a 1.2.5 mountain looks like. Now, which one would find most often on Earth?
Also, swamps. Swamps are a little weird at the moment and the color is odd but it's better than "swamplands" from 1.7.3.
Summary: The old generation is worse (In my opinion) than the current.
