I don't see why minecraft can't be both a sandbox and an rpg.
This is the same as saying "I don't see why a statement can't be both true and false."

Sandbox games, something that have no written rules, and RPG games, something that specific rules and repercussions for not following those rules, are logical dichotomies. Saying a game can both be a sandbox and an RPG is a contradiction.

posted a message on Pufferfish should be... BUFFED
    Quote from Leftypower123

I think that the pufferfish's effects should be buffed. Because I eat a pufferfish and most effects are over in no time and actually, pufferfish eating can be easily recovered from.
These are the ways it should be buffed (NOT A WISHLIST, ALL RELATING TO THE BUFFING OF PUFFERFISH)
Is minecraft really that much of a perfect game that people are complaining about pufferfish not hurting them more when they willingly eat it?

    The poison effect:
This is fine as it is.
Then why even mention it at all?

    The hunger effect:
Should be made 30 seconds instead of 15. At level III strength, you only lose 3 shanks. Easily restored. At 30 seconds, expect to lose six shanks. This makes it much more difficult to recover from.
If it's easy to recover from a 3 shank hunger, what makes a six shank hunger so hard?
    The nausea effect:
Should be made 30 seconds, or even 60. 15 seconds is no time at all. Eating pufferfish should actually be dangerous, and the nausea
effect makes it really hard to see, but it only lasts 15 seconds. It's over before you know it.
Why should eating pufferfish be dangerous? None of your suggestions makes any sense.

These are the ways pufferfish could be improved.
    Thanks for reminding me.

posted a message on "Minecraft has [unrealistic thing], so we can't add [realistic thing]!"
This has been an argument I've seen everywhere whenever someone suggests an update towards realism. The main flaw with it is that realism isn't black and white. Minecraft can have unrealistic elements while at the same time have realistic elements, and still be a fun game to play.

What are your thoughts on this?

    Quote from PopuliMinistrum

I am just going to add, that if the rose was retextured and renamed to something different, then it isn't a rose anymore, thus the single rose is still no longer in the game. So the whole 'It's still there, it's just not.' thing doesn't really work.

The poppy and rose are a few pixels away from each other, and they do the exact same thing. The rose is still in the game, it's just been renamed, which can be fixed with a language pack if it bothers you so much.

Actually, block id limitations are going to be a thing of the past, come next update.
By 'Next update' I pressume you mean the mod API.

The only thing the mod API is going to do is handle id-collisions and make installing mods easier and universal. It's not going to add infinite block ids.

Because he didn't have a point. He made a bad analogy.
His analogy used the same logic you used intentionally to show you how ridiculous your point was.

The game suffers if people aren't willing to speak their minds on what they like and don't like. This applies to big things and small things. I really don't think you should be arguing with me on this level. Argue about the merits of the rose, if you like, but the value of feedback isn't really open for discussion. The whole reason this Recent Updates forum exists at all is to share our feedback on what we see in the game. No matter how trivial.
This is a strawman fallacy. You've asserted that I don't think feedback is necessary at all, which is not true. Feedback has varying usefulness. Feedback that points out bugs in new snapshots has great value, because it helps improve the game. However, feedback that's verbally insulting to Mojang and anyone who disagrees with the writer of the feedback over a texture and name change of a rose does nothing to help improve the game, and carries no value.

Because we tailor it anyways, despite the fact that it's not designed to be changed.
I could understand this argument if we still had texture packs, but resource packs are able to change anything in the jar besides the code, which can further be changed with mods. Can we really say Minecraft isn't designed to be changed anymore?

    I haven't experienced this.

I once saw a mod somewhere that simulated the weather where you lived in minecraft, Perhaps mojang did this and didn't tell us.

posted a message on Snapshots are NOT mini updates!
Except snapshots are mini updates that mojang releases weekly. They're entire purpose is to test bugs and features for later 'proper updates'. Meaning if someone complains about something in a snapshot, they're actually making the game better.
