posted a message on private servers

The LAN is your home network, or, the internet source you connect to at your house. So unless they bring their computers over to your place, that's out of the question. What you want to do is portforward on your router. There are many tutorials for that out there, but I'll give you the gist of it here:

You have to login to your router, and to do that, you'll type 192.168.1.1 (this varies from router to router so if it doesn't work, try 192.168.0.1 (I think) ) into the search bar of a web browser. From there you'll login to it with the correct username and password (it varies from model to model, so if you didn't change it from its factory settings, look it up on the internet and see what they are) Then you'll want to find the port forwarding options, which is sometimes under the Advanced tab.

(Once again, this varies from model to model) There will usually be a little box titled "Start Port" and one titled "End Port". In those you'll type in 25565 (as that is minecraft's default port). Then there should be one more box called something like "Host Device" or something, in there you'll put your computer's IP. If you don't know what it is, open command prompt and type in /ipconfig /all (with the space!) Scroll down until you see where it says "IPv4 Address" Take note of what it is and go back to your router's settings.

In the "Host Device" box, type that IP in. If there are any other boxes to fill in, I believe you can just leave them empty (not 100% sure on this). From there, you will want to save and apply those settings, (there should be an option for that down near the bottom of the page or right below where you typed all that). From here, open a web browser and type in "What is my IP" Once you've done that, copy down the IP and put a colon directly after it with the numbers 25565 behind that.

Give that to your friends, it's what they'll connect with. Now, for any of that to be useful to you, you'll need minecraft's server software found here. If you need help installing this, there is a detailed tutorial on the minecraft wiki, as well as a port forwarding tutorial much, much easier to understand than mine.

    Hope this helps :)

I'm having a bit of an issue running this mod on a thermos server. Not sure if thermos is supported by the mod or what, but anyway, here's the crash report:

Why are people fighting for the websites that are reposting?

there is no point supporting the bad websites (unless if you were the owner)

That's what I don't understand about people..... Also, unless the mod is in the same place as the dirtbike mod is, I see no reason whatsoever to use them, even if they're "easier to use".

posted a message on Having a few issues with a custom modpack

So here's my issue: I'm running around 190 mods and the game loads fine (albeit slowly) but after I've started a game, my memory usage stays in the 80-100% range. Also, I'm using the ATLauncher, as it makes things easier to manage. So after allocating more Ram to the game (to no avail) I started reading articles about it here and on Reddit. I tried some of the things the articles said and it didn't really help much. I had the minimum allocated ram set to 4gb and the max set to 4gb, with the PermGen size set to 256mb. Even after that, it stayed in the 80-100% range. So I'm a bit lost at this point.

My system's specs are as follows:

    CPU: i5 4570 @ 3.2ghz

    GPU: Radeon r9 380 4gb @ 990mhz

    RAM: 8gb ddr3 @ 1066mhz

Hard Drive: Western Digital Green 2tb @ 7200rpm

Any help would be greatly appreciated! :)

Error: I could not see your service on -Snip- on port (25565)

That means that you must not have correctly port forwarded. Better go back into your router and redo the forwarding.

What port did you forward? When you run the test, that's the port you put into the field called "port".

What do you mean what error it says cant connect to server

That's what I wanted to know.........

Run this test to double check and make sure the port is actually open. (Unless of course you already have)

Sadly, there isn't much you can get for that cheap of a price. My computer, which gives me about 40 fps average, costs about $600. I would keep saving ^_^

Oh contraire, you indeed can build a gaming computer for 350 dollars. Though saving up a bit wouldn't be a bad idea.
