Mind posting a crash report? Also, what versions of the mods were you trying to install.

He can't allow that, because both of those would clearly violate Mojang's Minecraft licence. :P
If that's what some sites are doing, then it would even be in Mojang's or Microsoft's interest to bring them down.

Haha, never thought of it that way. But didn't Mojang say that they don't support mods in general? I also didn't think mods had any of Minecraft's code in them. Well, I mean I know they do but don't at the same time.

I found something else out, Check out this thread. The owner of that mod is just doing damage to himself... He even quoted the author of another mod and changed the context of what was said.

If you need a mod that adds a way to un-craft things, try the twilight forest mod. It's a bit complicated to get the un-crafting table it adds, but it's well worth it in the end. It also uses up xp when you un-craft stuff.

You want a mod with a clearly stated copyright policy? How about Optifine?

I read that and it didn't seem as clear as other things have in the past. Minecraftsix reposted it and linked to optifine.net. That seems almost legal, but seems wrong at the same time. I also don't want people getting mad at me for "attacking" a "good" website that makes their mod/map/texturepack more popular. Even though some of those "good" websites could potentially bundle malware with people's mods and whatnot that they repost. I have a feeling that I've already pissed off a mod author.

There was something else though, aside from that resource pack. I asked the author of the Pixelmon Armors Mod what licence he listed his mod under.

He said there wasn't one. Minecraftsix re-posted his mod and gave proper credit, however, I still don't trust them. I even asked the author something along the lines of this: "So you're saying that you allow other websites to bundle your mod with malware, put it behind adf.ly links, and make money off of it?". While minecraftsix doesn't appear to be doing that, what's to say some other website wont in the future.

Edit: I have a question for you all. What mod(s) clearly disallow you to repost them. Because half of the other mods I've found on Minecraftsix seem "legal" which is what annoys me even more than how they act.

I don't know where there's a precise definition of what constitutes re-posting, but I guess having a full description page with re-used images counts, even if the original author is credited and the links point to the original download site.

Wait, are you still talking about Werian? Where are you seeing a link to a Jenkins page for that? It's a link to the Curse download. I checked the page source, and there are no Jenkins links to be found on the minecraftsix page for the Werian resource pack.

Heh, must've been something else I found on there then. But that still doesn't change the fact that even if they did what they did "legally", the author of that pack said not to. Personally, I would consider a whole page on a random website re-posting (if it were an actual post and not someone just talking about the said mod/resource pack).

I checked the list and didn't see these websites listed, so here they are:

    zinchat(dot)com

    87at3mn(dot)brasai(dot)tech

Edit: removed one because it was apparently on the list already.

    Edit#2: Found another site or two: mc-vn(dot)net , mc-mod(dot)net , minecraftmods19(dot)com , apkapkapk(dot)me ,minecraftmodstotal(dot)blogspot(dot)com , www(dot)apkmonk(dot)com , forum(dot)cacaoweb(dot)org , wugfau(dot)deaftone(dot)com , dhrxfk(dot)deaftone(dot)com , wp(dot)lashesbyalexis(dot)com. There are plenty more but I'm not willing to take the time to post them here this late at night.

Also, about that resource pack minecraftsix reposted. They didn't link to the creators pmc page, they linked to a jenkins page.

First off, why do you have .dll files in your mods folder? Secondly I've heard tell of the deconstruction table mod not playing nice somehow. Try removing it and see what happens

Getting a new computer wont change much. Did you remove all the mods and add them in one by one? Also, the config folder is going to be in the same folder as the mods folder is. (Not in the mods folder, but both the mods folder and config folder should be in the same containing folder) Also, what mods are you using. If you can, take a screenshot of the mods folder.

I've looked at several mods and resource packs at minecraftsix, but it seems like they don't host the files themselves - they link to planetminecraft, mediafire, curse/curseforge, etc. for the actual downloads.

I noticed that as well, but it doesn't make things much different. They re-posted a resource pack when the author of it clearly said not to.

    Wrong

So far I've looked at three mods they have hosted, googled them and looked for a licence, I didn't see any listed for them. Nor did I see anything stating that they couldn't be re-posted. I left a comment on one of the mod author's forum threads, asking what licence he listed his mod under.

Edit: ahahahaha, I found something of importance. Link They re-posted the Werian resource pack. (Quote from the author) "- Do not distribute my pack or textures and/or claim them as your own."

posted a message on What are some stupid ban/kick/jail reasons you have seen or experienced?

I got banned for hacking once, (even though I wasn't) The reason was "ANTIKB" and I wasn't even lagging. Also, when I tried to appeal, I couldn't figure out how, so a friend of mine went on and they apparently treated him like crap. Heh, all he was trying to do was help me out (I never asked him by the way). So all that happened about a year ago or so.

That's kind of what copying the entire instance is... It'd have the proper version of forge and the correct mods already there.

But I can try that I guess.

posted a message on Client crashes leaving no error log, not sure what's wrong.

So here's my problem: About a year and a half or two years ago, I started a world in 1.7.2 and added a few mods. I haven't played it for about a year and the laptop it was on stopped working (a hard drive error of some sort). So I connected it externally and got the files off of it. This was on the ATLauncher so I copied the whole instance over. Only when I tried to load it, it would just crash, leaving no crash report behind to read. So I went into the jarmods folder, and there were two versions of forge and two versions of Optifine. So I removed the older versions and tried again, still no luck. So I then checked the mods folder. (At that time, I usually had an Optifine jar in both folders). But there wasn't one, So I'm at a loss as to what I can try or what I should do.
