I've never had any crash/hang issues with Optifine before, but with 1.7.2_HD_C2, the game hangs at the Mojang logo and won't close without being killed. It doesn't appear to be using the CPU or leaking memory when it crashes. The output in the development console is as follows:

Some of the texturing bugs that remain are Mojang's. See MC-34751 and MC-37106 for instance. I won't be attempting to fix these in MCPatcher at least until Mojang resolves them one way or another.

FYI, I'm on the case for 1.4.6 compatibility. Shouldn't be long, just tracking down a lightmap issue. I've also fixed compatibility on Macs and with Magic Launcher.
So TLUL, when your mod is compatible with forge, I will be able to use it for Terra Firma Craft for example? But, what do we do If a mod hasn't put certain blocks in the creative menu? Then how do we toggle if they are active/inactive? In TFC, none of the actual ore blocks are in the creative menu. You might need to add a separate GUI for blocks that aren't in it. But I'm not a modder, so what do I know
I've actually been intending to redo the block selection screen for a while now, but I haven't gotten around to it. Ideally, I'd like to have some sort of integration with NEI, but I need a usable system as a fallback if it's not installed.
Ingame Info and What's My Light Level also offer on-screen coordinates, along with many other things.

And, This mod looks like it's better than my current X-Ray. The thing that my current X-ray has that this one doesn't is that it shows coordinates in the corner of the screen. I will probably replace my current one with this when you make it Optifine-compatible.
I think Nodus is quite overrated - its useful feature set is no better than can be obtained from a small set of existing mods. I think its main appeal to the script kiddies is the GUI which seems to be impressive-looking enough, but rather unwieldy for practical use. But then again, I'm not a griefer, so I wouldn't really know.
Check whether this modification is compatible with REI's Minimap, which paints the coordinates under the map. They have been compatible in some previous versions iirc, so it's worth checking out If they are incompatible, there is always the F3-debug screen option
Yes, REI's minimap (which is a great mod, by the way) should be compatible with this mod, and if not's an easy merge. As for including coordinate display in this mod, I believe I've said before that I'd like to constrain the scope a bit more (this isn't a general utility mod, it's specifically an X-Ray).

Let's face it, opacity makes your x-ray mod kinda unique, but it's really ruining its performance. There's always a problem with it, and if it wasn't because opacity you probably wouldn't have problems with optifine, like most of the other x-ray mods. Does it really worth it so badly? I'm not completely sure about that.
At this point, the only problem with Optifine is one that any X-Ray would face, it's just a little bit more complicated to work around in this case. I realize that opacity does incur quite a performance hit, which is something I'm hoping Optifine will help to mitigate (as I've said before, the performance hit is very minimal to begin with on my computer). At some point in the future (probably over Christmas break when my exams are done) I'll look into making a "light" version of this mod that's stripped down to the bare essentials for performance and compatibility reasons.
The news is it's being stubborn, and finals are being loom-y. I have two finals on Thursday, followed by a week and a half off before my remaining ones. You can expect me to be useful again starting Sunday the 9th and I'll most likely be working on the merge as a way to procrastinate.

The only other mod I have installed is SPC. I tried with a vanilla install and I get blackscreened as soon as I launch Minecraft - so I actually got further with SPC installed.
You need to install this mod before or with MCPatcher, not after.

I've never had any crash/hang issues with Optifine before, but with 1.7.2_HD_C2, the game hangs at the Mojang logo and won't close without being killed. It doesn't appear to be using the CPU or leaking memory when it crashes. The output in the development console is as follows:

I've actually been intending to redo the block selection screen for a while now, but I haven't gotten around to it. Ideally, I'd like to have some sort of integration with NEI, but I need a usable system as a fallback if it's not installed.

I think Nodus is quite overrated - its useful feature set is no better than can be obtained from a small set of existing mods. I think its main appeal to the script kiddies is the GUI which seems to be impressive-looking enough, but rather unwieldy for practical use. But then again, I'm not a griefer, so I wouldn't really know.
Yes, REI's minimap (which is a great mod, by the way) should be compatible with this mod, and if not's an easy merge. As for including coordinate display in this mod, I believe I've said before that I'd like to constrain the scope a bit more (this isn't a general utility mod, it's specifically an X-Ray).
Edit: Sorry for double post, I was relying on the auto-merge but apparently it has a five minute limit (or less).

At this point, the only problem with Optifine is one that any X-Ray would face, it's just a little bit more complicated to work around in this case. I realize that opacity does incur quite a performance hit, which is something I'm hoping Optifine will help to mitigate (as I've said before, the performance hit is very minimal to begin with on my computer). At some point in the future (probably over Christmas break when my exams are done) I'll look into making a "light" version of this mod that's stripped down to the bare essentials for performance and compatibility reasons.

The news is it's being stubborn, and finals are being loom-y. I have two finals on Thursday, followed by a week and a half off before my remaining ones. You can expect me to be useful again starting Sunday the 9th and I'll most likely be working on the merge as a way to procrastinate.
I'll still probably feel like procrastinating tomorrow, though, so you might get a sort-of-working merge. At the current rate, it will still give you proper X-ray within a small radius as long as you update the chunk.
