I visited the Nether for the first time since the 1.8 update, and both netherrack and quartz textures have been replaced with the new marine textures. Optifine doesn't seem to be the issue, because it also is happening on our other computer without Optifine installed.
Has anyone else experienced this, and what's the deal?
I have been trying to assemble my first modpack, adding and testing mods one at a time. At all stages of the process, WAILA crashes whenever I look at the first thing in front of me (last time it was vanilla grass). Here is the log:

Running a B-Team server just for me and the wife. Lately, portals are creating duplicate players. Example: I travel through a portal (enhanced) to the Nether or the Tropics, and there I am, just standing there, as if frozen in a moment during the last time I visited. Creepy.
Is there a fix? Or is this just something to deal with?
I'm exploring EP in Attack of the B-Team, and I've gotten as far as setting up two Overworld portals on a network, with one portal in the Nether. A lever activates the networked portals, and I right-click the portal modifier and disengage the network to use a portal as a vanilla nether portal.
So I figure it's time to start using dialers. I crafted three advanced dial devices and three dialer upgrade cards. But I'm clueless as to how to get them installed. If I set up the upgrade and dialer on one portal, I am no loger able to travel to the previously networked portal to complete the setup. So I have two questions:
1. Do I need to physically travel to the second overworld portal (or have someone there) to install its dialer before I can link them?
2. Once the two overworld portals are set up, how do I get to the nether portal without having previously set it up?
I am a total ignoramus with regards to server administration, but I set up a B-Team server through Goliath hosting, for the purpose of playing with family using the Technic launcher on the client end. It's been a few months and so far so good, but there seems to have been recent updates to the mod pack. I do not know the first thing about upgrading and backing up a server. I don't expect a ton of hand-holding here, but can someone point me in the right direction?
I recently set up an Attack of the B-Team server, and all is well so far except for one thing. When I drop an item in lava, it skips around on the surface instead of burning up. This doesn't seem to be due to lag, because I have stood and watched items dance around for minutes. Is this the result of a setting I don't know about? Is it fixable?
The question is, how far? I'm looking for seamless large maps, so I need a distinct procedure. YouTube and Google haven't seemed very helpful, and mistakes cost iron. I'll keep looking for answers, but I was hoping someone here might have done this already.
I recently learned how to build a wall map using maps and frames. I understand the procedure to be: 1. create a map, 2. move out of frame, 3. create another, etc. until nine non-overlapping maps are generated.
I'd like to do the same, but with the largest size maps -- the ones you create after 3 or 4 upgrades -- but I'm having difficulty understanding how to keep the maps from overlapping when increasing their range. What's the trick? Or is it even possible?

I visited the Nether for the first time since the 1.8 update, and both netherrack and quartz textures have been replaced with the new marine textures. Optifine doesn't seem to be the issue, because it also is happening on our other computer without Optifine installed.
Has anyone else experienced this, and what's the deal?
