I don't know what world you live in but I think those things are perfectly logical, in fact my route to school each morning consists of tunnelling through several mountains, jumping a few lava pits, and running away from exploding green penises. It only takes me 35 minutes.
Huh... My School route was doing a dukes of hazard in a mine-cart.
I don't know where that moral thing came from but that's besides the point of this thread. This thread is a thought exercise. IF guns were in Minecraft, what would they be like? how would it behave? how would it be balanced with the rest of the objects and weapons in the world. would it be useful? would it be fun? Would it help us calculate PI? our answer was the Arquebus.
If we can get Notch to even give his opinion on the work we have done in this thread, then i will feel great! if he puts it in the game. BRING OUT THE VODKA AND SHOWGIRLS!!
@spartacuscat
While i don't necessarily like hit scan i have a solution.
We Stat out 4 different versions of the Arquebus.
Version 1: manual reload
Version 2: Manual reload with hitscan
Version 3: Overheat
Version 4: Overheat with hitscan
all of them given the Options of 1, 2, and 4
@spartacuscat
Sorry but i have to correct you. It says that when it overheats you cant use it until it cools back down. We figured breaking the gun would make it so no one would want to use it.
@Wilks228
Yes it has a greater range. but after half that distance it has half the effectiveness.
@Fentonalpha it was funny. but next time suggest something or put an "in all seriousness" bit in. then people wouldn't jump on you.
@Mystify i wasn't. Just making a joke before adding a suggestion.
Bow: when arrows are crafted = 4 arrows = 8 hearts of potential damage
Bullets: when they are crafted = 1 bullet = 5 hearts of potential damage.
Either way if you craft each recipe once you won't kill an unarmored human.
I came up with a few options to choose from
1. leave it as it is, its already pretty complicated. (same as is and we need play testing to see for sure.)
2. make the ammo recipe create 2 bullets. (Allows the ability to kill a person upon one recipe made)
3. option 2 but lower the damage of the Arquebus to 4 hearts. (makes it equal to the bow's craft:damage ratio)
4. Option 1 but increase the damage of the Arquebus to 6 hearts. (makes up for only one bullet)
I looked it over.
1 steel bar + 1 gunpowder =1 bullet.
Thats a big honking bullet. An entire steel bar could make a shovel head. what would it be? .75 calibur rounds?
Maybe that recipe could make less than or equal to 4 bullets defintely. probibly would be best to go with 2 bullets.
thats better than the damage to ammo ratio of the bow.
I wish there were actual, random multi-room dungeons full of kick ass mobs, traps and loot. That'd be awesome for hell. I'd probably spend all the game time in it. :biggrin.gif:
Some of these ideas are nice, but most need some polishing. Either way, I'm all for more monsters.
Thats what im thinking for hell. The dungeons in the normal world are just entrances to the bigger hell dungeons.
I like this; but you need to be able to wizz on the fence and electrocute yourself.

Can I pee on it and get a shock :wink.gif:
Sorry to break it to you guys but mythbusters proved that wrong. The stream isnt constant enough to get the shock to the body. you would have to be like a centimeter away from the fence for it to shock you.
I can see this getting exploted, but its a great idea.

Also super fast shooting enemies with the bow just causes the arrows to bounce off.
