I know this sounds stupid but I really think some people get it.I would just like to see if there are people out there who agree with me on one thing, and that is.
Did Notch say this? It still doesn't make much sense to me because getting food does take work, even if you do have a huge farm, and no number of right clicks is going to help you survive a direct hit. But if you have an actual source, I'll accept it.
It's been implied several times. Jeb had a twitter post that said something along the lines of "I made pork stackable once, but notch gave me a funny look, so I reverted it". As I understand it, adventuring isn't ever supposed to feel godly, you're always supposed to feel like you can't just shrug off violent encounters like nothing, irrelevant of how much time you spend gathering.
He's right and wrong. He under values the contribution of mods to the future of minecraft too much in my opinion. I'd say the type of stuff he wants to do is absolutely the realm of mods, as opposed to the responsibility of notch and crew. He's right though, there are alot of directions minecraft could take that it currently doesn't.
i just wanna test it. it looks good, but looks can be disceving. and on here there are storyies of ppl pirateing then buying. that could be me, if i could just use it >.>
youre kinda stupid
notch said himself he doesnt mind ppl pirating it, just as long as hey buy it in the long end, which is what i hope to do, but i dont get paid for another week, and dont wanna waste my money on something i might not like. jesus
It's one thing to pirate a game, it's another thing to rub it in the game creator's face by discussing it on his own website.
With the alpha version of the game, notch used to promise that if you bought the game you would get "all future updates" for free. This promise was removed when minecraft went to beta and replaced with "You will also get the full version of Minecraft when it is released. Read the copyright information for more information on your purchase."
Does that mean if minecraft is buggy on it's first release I'll have to pay for the bugfixing patches? No, it does not.
The original promise was removed on the recommendation of Notch's legal team, as it has an implication that as an alpha buyer I will get all future updates, including DLC and expansions, also for free. That's not really what notch ment, but legal language is different than software development language.
So: If minecraft reaches a state where for purchase expansions or downloadable content is being offered by notch, alpha accounts will likely get this content for free, where as beta accounts and all accounts after that will be in the situation a buyer of every other normal game ever is, where they will have to pay for the expansion content.
Keep in mind though, at this point in time, we have never been promised any expansion content for purchase. It seems most likely that notch will never bother with making such a move that would create stress in the community. If he wants to do something insane with expanding Minecraft, my suspicion is that he would make a sequel to the game, rather than having to worry about double standards between alpha and other accounts.
So we have to buy the game again when it is fully developed? Isn't it a little unfair. I think I am a fool for paying now. And I can't even play now because of payment problem.
