Do you think you will ever end up releasing a world download/ .schematic? I'd very much like that.

Im sorry. I would love to do that, but the file is so corrupt I dont think its possible.
See this thread to read about the update catastrophe.... the height adjusting mod I used never updated from 1.8.1, and when I tried to add the weekly snapshot which made sheep wool regrow, the update almost killed the project. I still have the save file for the world. Perhaps when I need a break from this new project, I will tackle trying to unwind the mess. More likely though, I will rebuild this structure in my new project. It is well underway as of yesterday; 1) spawn spot is barricaded 2) greenhouse (for bread) is finished 3) preliminary timber ops and preliminary mining ops are begun. Ill be starting far larger operastions of all kinds spread all around the map in order to support the building of many many structures that are at least as complex as this build.

OK... final count is 36 mods. .jar is stable... only a few mod items overwriting each other (as far as I can tell).

Set up is done. I will almost for sure generate the world tomorrow.... Fair warning though; I may spend a couple days- a week getting used to the mods, and then scrub the map and restart fresh. Might not... this is not a single site build like the last, I will be starting by creating a safe spawn point, then finding my fist raw mats in bulk.... as long as teh mods dont completely disappoint or **** me off, I may very well not need to restart. Time shall tell.

    Well,

I must say... "thank you all" from the bottom of my heart. The praise is overwhelming, and greatly appreciated. I thouroughly enjoyed evry aspect of this build.... every aspect except the constsnt breeding. SOOO Glad to have upgraded to re-growing of wool. Not to mention the other perks to the 1.2.5 version that will be the long term base for my next project.

Speaking of next project, I'm in waaaay too deep. heh, like that's going to deter me. Never let wisdom, forethought, or experience get in the way of a ridiculously big plan I say. So, here's the basics of the project that I have been making plans for ever since I dropped the last update in this thread. (new project will have its own thread of course)

    1) I plan to build a massively spread out, series of structures. They will have long long distances between them, so there is a feel of empire or kingdom to the land. The structures will be a mix of historically accurate reproductions, and historically inspired fictions all set in a time frame of 200AD to 1300AD from Europe, GB, Ottoman, Russian, and Nordic castles. I will be using extra biomes mod http://www.minecraft...abiomesxl-226/so that I will have 28 ttl biomes to work in giving each structure as realistic a setting as possible.

The various structures I have preliminary plans for include:
    Castles (of course)
    Cathedrals
    Palaces
    Manors
etc..... ALL with their attendant towns, shops and industries.
I will actually be enjoying the tasks of creating MASSIVE quarries in various biomes to stockpile sandstone, red-stone, granite/cobble etc..... HUGE tracts of planted timber of 16 different types.... massive orchards, fields of grains and vegetables, vineyards (wine mod).... as well as various stone cutters shops, lumber mills, bakeries, forges and armories (lol survival, remember?), animal farms, and whatever other societal necessities come to mind. I know it sounds crazy, but after a build teh size I just completed, up is the only acceptable direction to aim ;)

In addition to the biomes mod I have decided to use a very large group of additional mods to increase building and decorating options. I want to make this impeccably clear though; I will be playing legit and survival. The list of modes I will be using DO NOT include an inventory hack, a flight cheat, any auto-build scripts, spawn increase or any other feature that takes away from the concept of 'earning the block', or easing the construction methods. I LIKE THE WORK of minecraft. The mods I have chosen are things like additional plants/crops/flowers, more trees, butterflies, shelves, a miini map, display cases, colored torches, carts, furniture, additional bricks/slabs/stone types etc. I will be placing a list of ALL mods used in the project with links to the Minecraft Forum thread explaining them. I currently have a stable .jar with 31 mods, and I am trying to get three more in somehow. (guess what Ive been learning for the last two weeks lol).

    Anyway, Ive rambled enough.

I will finalize the modlist and generate the world tomorrow, most likely, though I may not start the project thread until a few days after. I will link to that thread in an update to this thread as my final post in here.

    Wish me luck.

    Peace.

    Postlogue:
I'm done. Its over. I am tired of this project, and I want to move on. Remember that I am still using MC 1.8.1 with no wool regrowth, no cats, no mods.... vanilla 'just-over-beta' game for the last 7 months. Im ready to update and start a new project. I will not be doing the Approach ramp, the landscaping or the interiors. Im just too burned out on this look/world. In my next project (new thread incoming) I intend to create such vast farms, quarries, mines NPC villages etc, that I will be able to build an unlimited number of historically accurate Castles, Abbies, Cathedrals, Towers, Gates, Halls, Palaces etc without getting bored so easily.... I may even rebuild this structure and do the interior and ramp...... but Im 100% done here. By the time you read this I will have updated my MineCraft, and I will be on a search for a few mods... Stained glass, 'upsidedown stairs shaped blocks'(for better archs), paint or stone die,... and the like...mmmm maybe a better map feature. I will still be playing legit, just want a little better pallet of materials to work with this time.

Thank you to all of you have been encouraging, and for the kind words all along. I look forward to seeing some of you WOOP my ass on this build in the near future. I left a LOT of places of weakness where a motivated player/team could easilly out perform this version.

Keep your sword handy, its getting dark.

Hey Swervish... What are your computer specs if you don't mind me asking?

I know its not UbErRigg or anything, but its the best Ive ever owned by far.

    AMD Phenomâ„¢ II X4 955 Processor, 3200 MHz, 4 cores, 4 Logical Processors
    Ram 6.0 GB
    AMD Radeon HD 6800 Series
    2X 27" Monitors
    (R ) Razer Naga / (L) Razor Nostromo
    Windows 7
    Avast anti virus (free version)
    Mozilla Firefox
    wire connected to modem

Not smart enough to find any more details than that.
I paid one of my client's kids (junior at MST (Rolla)) 150 +cost to build it in Jan 2011, so I can't really tell you the details.
All I know is it runs like a blowtorch even with 8-10 mem-hog apps running all at same time (Skype, iTunes, MC, browser w/4-6 tabs up, etc) and graphics flow is smooth as glass...

One caveat... I NEVER surf porn on this rig..... smut only touches the laptop.

    The Royal Cambers Update

    Included in this update:
    The Knights side
    The Outer End
    Ladies Tower
    The Ladies Side
    The Courtyard End

    _______________________________________________________________________________
    The Knights side

    Casement walls first

The gap for the Queen's Patio

The patio will need pillars to hold up the interior wall

Yes, these were planned from the beginning... see them poking through the floor of the first floor, the two 2X3 dots in the bottom right at about 5 oclock in the following pic... they go all the way to the footings underground :)

Furthermore, all the foundations coming through the floor have a purpose. They are allmost all two blocks thick so that they can be built out of colored wool or wood or whatever I choose to make the interior rooms as unique as I wish. If I in fact build them) Also, see the 9 dots running left to right about midway? They become pillars running down the middle of the four story high, vaulted, Main Hall between the King's tower and the Queens tower as well as supporting the massive hip wall that handles the step up in the giant roof that is going on in the next update.

    And finished patio

    The Knight's side casement done

    And the White exterior added

    Clear the dirt windows

    And move to the end

    _______________________________________________________________________________
    The Outer End

    _______________________________________________________________________________
    Ladies Tower

    The cobble interiors done

    The cladding on

    Complete

    _______________________________________________________________________________
    The Ladies Side
Not nearly as complicated, but the place where EVERYTHING has to tie together in three dimensions.
It is impossible to describe or even to show with pictures, but with a project of this scale and this complexity, it is nearly impossible to have the walls line up correctly with the roofs, with the gables, with the foundations that were laid 500 game-hours ago.... on the fly redesigns are INEVITABLE. As a matter of fact someone asked me in tah post a few days ago about the number of blocks from one elevation to another.... WHO KNOWS?? just play it out... be aware of the other elements of the building at all times, and make adjustments as needed. I cant tell you all how many pieces of this structure have been chiseled away and rebuilt just one block over. one of the first two towers on the guard house was the first re-build. Even with the intricate planning I undertook it happens. If you dont like re-building occasionally, massive MC projects will not make you happy.

    The inners

    Inners done

So close... im just dieing to see the royal entry here

    And of course white skins

    _______________________________________________________________________________
    The Courtyard End

Great.... My plans call for this to be an even number of blocks across, and its not, LOL. Its odd. See what I mean about re-designing on the fly? Sure as hell not going to tear down the whole building including the foundations just for one damn block.... build away, you would have never known had I not divulged the truth. The audience to your projects will not know of your little miscalcs either.

    White going on

    AND FINALLY!!
The Royal Entry to the right of this end means that the walls of this castle are.... DONE!

    _________________________________________________________________________________

Coming up in the next update:
Roofs (HOLY CRAP! that was a lot of grey wool LOL)
The minarets (four on the Royal Chambers and one on the King's Tower)

As always, your comments, both critical and suggestive will be most welcomed,

    HUZZAH!!

    The entire building is done.
The project as a whole is at about 50% now.
    ___________________________
    Still to complete:
    Glass the windows
    Approach ramp
Landscaping (gonna take a HUGE pile of dirt/cobble/stone and lots of time)
    Interiors (probably wont do them)

Why not do them?... Im itching to start a 20-30 castle Kingdom based on a bunch of historical European keeps, towers, and castles which I have been researching. I am planning to do it all legit after a MC update (which will probably kill this map). 20-30 castles spread over 10-12 maps with their attendant villages/industries (quarries, mines, farms, timber stands, etc) and all connected by mine cart tunnels.

Anyway, It will take about three more updates to catch you all up to current, one of which will come tonight, and another one or two to get the ramp and landscaping in the thread (after I complete them). Then... decide what to do about updating.

Here's a little taste of what's coming in the future project:

    Tattershall

    The Bastille

    Kidwelly

    Bran

    Sarzay

    Hunedoara

    And 12-15 more.

Understand my conundrum.... been doing Neuschwanstein since October 2011.
I am TOTALLY ready for a new project and a freekin MC update... with regrow-sheep for God's sake and mercy.

    The King's Tower Update

    Included in this update:
    The Quarry
    The Wool Vault
The Kings Tower (the tallest in the castle (155blks high)
    The Big Tease

    ________________________________________________________________
    ________________________________________________________________

    Cobble Cobble Cobble

if you think this build is taking a lot of white wool, well other than being dead right, youre probably underestimating the amount of cobble I have used so far. I need to do the math at some point, but it comes out somewhere near a poop-ton if you round the decimal.

This hill has to come down anyway for the approach ramp so lets do it right.

I strted by hollowing out the good stone, but decided I needed a larger scale project.

So, I took off the roof and set to truly quarrying it out in bulk

All the harvested cobble went into the already existing store rooms in the gatehouse basements.

    ________________________________________________________________________________

More Wool Than a Lesbian Convention

Hours upon hours of breeding shearing and culling... HHHHOOOOUUUURRRSSSSS.
And the last thing I want to do when Im in teh 'build groove' is to be forced to stop for wool work... so I dedicate entire days to harvesting it (usually while Im watching CNBC for the financial news. And lots of wool needs a big safe place to live so I built a vault under my Shepard's hut.

Here is the drop shaft, next to the bed.

Down the ladder about 10 lvls is the vault... I made it way too big actually, Its never been more than 1/8 full.

The rainbow pens have their own chests. Gonna be a lot of work in here when I start the interiors (If... Im already jonesing for a new project; The Vatican, Venice, St Basil's Cathedral, Shakespeare's Theater?)

    Meet Roofus and Roofina

    _____________________________________________________________

    The King's Tower

    Big, Tall, Heavy, Thick

Here's where it goes, the round foundation at about 1 oclock in the picture.

As per my preferred building method for tall structures... the tower going up one column of blocks at a time from the base all the way to the top.

First section (80% of the hieght)
LOL Im probably the only MC player who builds dirt windows, but it works REALLY well when you have gravity to deal with.

    Couple shots from the top

And the rest of the completed phases from this high vantage point

A few shots from out in the forrest on a photo pillar.... it is really hard to get a meaningful feel for this monster with the fish eye graphics and the sight distance limitations of MC code, sorry.

And of course... the sheepskins going on

And slap on the top two small sections

Now it WILL NOT all fit in one pic lol.

K, it is done enough for the update. But, it is not fully completed ... there will later be a spire added.
It is about 25 blocks high, offset to the inside and rear.

See the little 'offshoot' in the plans and the real life pic.

As always, your comments, both constructive and critical, are quite welcome.

    Peace
