Is it possible to have the suffix go before the name and prefix? I think if I can do that, it would be much easier to do this. Is there any other less complicated ways to do this?

it sure is! it would be done in the config of the plugin that handles chat.

there will be a line that specifies how your chat prompt is formatted, which variables it includes/ colour codes/ extra formatting etc.

keep your existing base ranks, then add 'per player' permissions and affixes where required :)

it is a fairly manual approach, but it negates the need for specific permutation combination groups.

alternatively, utilize pex's multiple group membership ability to confer perms; but manually modify specific player affixes. (no chat plugin will correctly pull affixes from multiple groups AFAIK :( , they will only use the first group listed under a player. i.e. the most recently added group)

all of the affix fields can be manipulated in some quite interesting ways through your chat prompt formatting config. for instance you could prefix playernames with both the suffix and the prefix fields combined. computers only treat them as straight variables and will place them where they are told to; it does not have to be a literal 'suffix' added on to the end only.

..You have the options: set to not build on your default group - i suggest taking out the options: build: section on All of them. you are using other perms for that which work more specifically.
Pex doesn't utilize a "build: " field at all; this is what modifyworld is for.

You have multiple inheritances under the same group. this doesn't work in PeX.
false. Pex does support multiple group inheritance and membership (though it may make no logical sense. i didnt actually look at this file)

..The .jar file is the Linux/Mac version.

correct; but possibly a bit misleading.

the .jar version is also the windows version. that's the beauty of java, it is OS independent.

look on the mc wiki 'setting up a server' page. there are full instructions for running the jar on windows too.

posted a message on Server Console Blank 1.7.4
for all of 1.7 (since September of last year), the .exe version of the server has never given any console or player output.

other than that known issue it works fine. starts up, players can connect etc.

If you require console output, you will need to use the '.jar' version of the server software
    (also avail. at minecraft.net/downloads )

just use the simple example batchfile.

trying to 'reduce lag' by adding custom switches to java *may* grant *very minimal* performance gains, *if any*.

'Lag' is primarily due to network communication constraints, the use of inadequate hardware, and only very occasionally due to software environment.

FYI, PEX doesn't utilize the 'build:' field at all.

You could add it, but it would have no effect.

This is why they offer the modifyworld plugin as an option to control world interactions.

oh you have what is essentially 2 routers and therefore 2 networks?

    well there you go!

you need to port forward both of them. and not by setting both lots of portforwarding values to be the same in each unit either.

you will need to forward the first modem/router to the second router; then the second router to your server.

open them with any text editor.

if you cant right-click and 'open with..', you may have to firstly open your text editor, then manually select the file.

be assured that you are not alone.

the .exe version of the server has been flawed like this since September last year ( http://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Tutorials/Setting_up_a_server#Running_a_1.7.2.2B_Server ) and people post about having this issue on a daily basis.

If you require constant console output, there is the option to run the .jar version of the software (how-to linked above)

posted a message on Loading old map
the way to prevent this would be to make regular backups of your world folders. That way, if there ever is any corruption you can revert to the last working copy you made.

when the server is not running, make a copy your world folders and place them somewhere else.

you can then load and use any world/map you like by having it in place when you start the server.
