Feb 8, 2015Should the plank of wood in the mounted Irish Elk head model be made of oak only, or should I add support for all vanilla woods plus any woods this mod adds, and maybe later on, woods from other mods.Posted in: Mods Discussion

Also, do you think it would be possible to add some integration with other mods, such as thaumcraft aspects on items?
Also, I have been making models for non-dinosaurs, just none of them have made it in game yet. I did an Irish Elk (with doe, fawn and stag models), and a Platybelodon. I'm going to work on a mounted Irish Elk Stag head right now, and then tomorrow I'll work on the first model for a future animal.
Feb 5, 2015How are we going to handle biomes for each era? Because none of these eras had a static, single environment. If we do make custom biomes, we should only do a few, and make every biome in each era have modified generation reflecting the environment of the era. No Kelp forests before 23 million years, and no Grasslands before the Oligocene. Grass evolved right near the end of the Cretaceous, but, grasslands are newer.Posted in: Mods Discussion
Witchery pulled off modified biomes for other dimensions. In the torment dimension, it uses a modified nether biome, and the spirit world has modified versions of overworld biomes without making new biomes.

Also, since you put me in charge of future eras, I will cap all major eras to end at 1 billion years, so I don't have to handwave and make stuff too alien and difficult to work with. 1 billion years into the future, the earth will pretty much resemble Venus, with microbial patches found underground.
As for custom biomes, here are the biomes that I think could be done without modifying generation of other biomes in each era:
Redwood Forest (Biomes O Plenty has this)
Coral Reef (Biomes O Plenty has this)
Kelp Forest (Biomes O Plenty has this)
Bamboo Forest (Biomes O Plenty has this)
Deadland (has variants for eras, represents land before colonization of life onto land, and represents land after life dies off)
Various islands, based on climate, such as temperate, tropical, cold, and desert islands.
Lost world (has variants based on era, represents an island where life from various other eras did not die off, could be used as a replacement for alternate timelines)

Jan 26, 2015This weekend, I will work on the first future animal I will make, Haemosagittarius silvestris, a large secretary bird. I will try and make it a bit more different looking than a generic neo-terror bird. I'm pretty sure I can figure out how to texture feathers, so, it won't be too hard.Posted in: Mods Discussion
