Don't you hate having to go up and down the mine to get lava to build something simple, or make a lava floor? I bet everyone does.
My idea is to add a lava cauldron. What it basically does is create lava for you. Here's how it's crafted.
It looks the same as a normal cauldron, but it is smoother and doesn't have legs.
When you right click it, it has a GUI. It looks just like a furnace, but without an output slot, or an arrow. There is a smaller arrow between the fuel slot, and the stone slot, which fills up as the stone melts.
You have to place either cobblestone, or smooth stone in the input. When you put in fuel, it will begin to melt the stone. It takes two minutes to melt cobblestone, and one minute to melt smooth stone. When it is done, it will fill up the cauldron 1/8 of the way, and continue to the next stone. The cauldron can hold eight buckets of lava. The fuel lasts the same as it does in the furnace. Lava buckets don't work in the fuel for this.
In order to take the lava out, you must right click it with a bucket. It will take one eighth out. When you break the lava cauldron, it drops the normal cauldron.
I am 100% legit. I use mods like OptiFine, and Rei's Minimap, but nothing like TMI, or SPC. I also don't use mods that add new items, or other things, since I have to wait for the update. Only time I use content mods is on one of the custom mod packs on Technic Laucher.
Time, Y U NO GO FASTER!? I want this snapshot out now, because I have a chest filled with seven near broken diamond pickaxes. I like to save them, just like I did with my first pickaxe (wooden).

You can smelt ore with wood, so you should be able to do so with lava. That's my opinion.

It would be way too OP, since griefers would use this to their advantage. All they need is two lava buckets, and they can flood the world with lava.
