Blam, they're being implemented in 1.7. Go play the snapshots.

Aren't those just filters, not shaders?

The ghast death animation needs to be like letting go of a balloon that you were pinching. It flies around all over the place while making pbbbbbbbbttttttt noise.

posted a message on Did the Terrain Become BORING? (UPDATE 6/5/13 - 1.7 is a biome update?)

Where did you get diamond pickaxes?Anyway what I'm trying to say is if people don't Luke the terrain don't play minecraft and wait until mojang brings back "1.7.3 terrain" or update the terrain.

You're actually hurting Mojang here (Or trying to). Sometimes they get off track and need the players to give feedback to make the game better. What you're saying here is that we shouldn't try to improve the game.

I found this on Reddit today: http://www.reddit.co...implement_more/

Notice how all comments showing even the slightest bit of criticism get downvoted, while the ones suggesting to spam more cookie-cutter biomes get voted to the top. Reddit I usually love you, but r/Minecraft is a cesspool of stupidity.

posted a message on Terraforming, new original creations
Looks pretty great! I'm an avid terraformer myself, I just haven't done much lately. Here's some pics of some of my stuff if you care.

My advice to you would be to smooth out the shapes a little more. This is something I'm guilty of myself, as you may see in some of my pictures. Don't spam the /b e fill/melt tools, as they create perfectly diagonal lines between primitives (voxels, spheres, etc). Instead, try to get the land form as natural looking as possible with just primitives of varying sizes (use big primitives and then fill the little spaces between them with smaller ones). Make sure you're not clicking a bunch of times in the same spot.

Oh, and always use /b sphere/disc true. It gets rid of those annoying nubs on the end.

    Happy terraforming!

posted a message on If it were up to you, what direction would you take Minecraft toward?
I would add more variety to terrain first, then move on to improve dungeons and villages to make them truly unique and random. I would then improve the combat system to be more satisfying with animations and such, so a skilled player with a stone sword could beat a noob with a diamond one. Mobs would also adopt animations and unique tactics. Basically, improving on the core elements of survival.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind seeing some more joints on mobs and players. It would allow for more intricate animations for things like swimming, running, flying, and attacking (for better combat).

Whoa bro. The terrain isn't "bad" but it's not that good either. Most of it is just uninspiring. and stop trying to use fake statistics.

Though the poll on the thread got deleted somehow, it was around an 85-ish percent support rate for a new generator if I recall correctly, and it had a sample size of around 800 people.

    Terrain update, including oceans.

Agreed. Huuuuuge terrain update. Since Beta 1.7 is generally viewed as the peak of the terrain's glory (promptly followed by the not-so-great 1.8) it is only fitting that Release 1.7 restores its former glory. Then 1.8 can be the Adventure Update II, fixing everything related to combat and exploration.
