I apologize for not being more clear about what exactly it was I wished to discuss. It was not that the server went down again. Rather, it was about the events surrounding Valdrec's removal from admin-ship.

I only heard the situation from Valdrec's prospective so far, so I clearly don't have the full story, but parts of what you're saying here seem to collaborate with what I've heard. In summary, what I have been told so far is that, after a spot of debate with a few of the higher-up members of Alesgan, Valdrec was asked to step down and hand administration of the server over to Glados. And Valdrec did indeed hand the server over, but decided to revoke that decision when it was brought to his attention that he had paid for a server on which he was now banned from administrating. I know this is not the full story, hence my request to discuss this in full on Saturday.

    Quote from VIROS

When we got a new server that wasn't under his control, he deleted the server he had and the map on it.

If it wasn't under his control, how did he delete the server?

I'm outraged, frankly, at how we are handling this server situation. Before it erupts to flames here I suggest we take it to discussion on Saturday.

posted a message on What do you think Notch will add after 1.8?
Yeah, honestly I have a hard time thinking of any features that Notch isn't really addressing in 1.8 But to list a few:
    1. Adventure mode
    2. Creative mode
    3. Zombie invasion nights

Most of the things you mentioned were things I wanted to see Neku. You're making out to be a fine queen indeed so far :3 I was concerned you wouldn't be ambitious enough but you've cleared that straight up.

I hadn't meant anything personal about what I said, for the record... Just want to see this thing done and over with already. I was lead to believe that spy would be gone for about a WEEK rather than the weekend :tongue.gif:

I think the logical answer is to put someone more reliable in charge of tallying up the votes, then hosting another vote. That or we wait for spy.

Am I to assume there is some sort of meeting tomorrow? Is that still a regular weekly thing, or do we simply only do it when deemed necessary?

    Geographic simulation.

posted a message on What big development do you want added to Minecraft next?
I would like to see more in-depth terrain generation... Though Notch in indeed adding a few geographic figures to 1.8 (Ravines and 'shroom forests) I'd really love to see proper mountain biomes, rivers, floating islands, more massive caverns, waterfalls, proper oceans, continents, and more varied plantlife to better represent different biomes.

Much of this is the same as my previous statement, however I highlighted the important changes I made to my statement.

    1. How have you contributed to Alesgan?

-I have contributed to Alesgan by proposing many new ideas that would, without a doubt, bring Alesgan to a new state of life and prosperity. In the past I have proven my ability to create a successful clan, having lead it for several months and creating a beautiful city. Even in the current day, however, I am contributing to Alesgan with my new ideas for governmental positions. Regardless of whether or not I am elected King, I will try my hardest to push my ideas into the consideration of the governing body of Alesgan.

    2. What traits do you have that you feel most qualify you to be King?

-I have a strong sense of leadership and direction. I am able to take criticism maturely and with respect, and I am not afraid to acknowledge my faults. I deal with people in a respectable manner, without falter, and I am always willing to listen if the people have a complaint about Alesgan.

    3. What do you feel most needs to be changed about Alesgan today?

-I feel that its overall lack of a direction needs dire addressing. At current, Alesgan isn't moving anywhere as a clan. The current Alesgan does not strike me as a very unified, and the map itself consists almost entirely of personal projects. As opposed to this, I would give the clan something to do to contribute to a bigger picture, to make sure that it isn't solely a collection of personal constructions and is instead a collaborative testament to both personal achievement and cooperative ability.

    4. What are your feelings on using /give?

-I feel that using server commands to edit resources into the world from nothing should be used at an absolute minimum. It should be used only in situations where the resources spawned are physically feasible. Structure entirely out of diamond blocks are out of the question, while using /give to make a small throne is not entirely unreasonable.

The power to /give will, under my rule, be given only to a few special builders, who are tentatively referred to as "Architects". If these people are found to be abusing their powers, they will be punished appropriately. For the Architects, it is temporary (2 week) relief from duty, their rank being returned to civilian for the duration.

    5. How powerful do you feel the King should be?

-I feel that the King should lead Alesgan, frankly. Politically, the King has the with the ability to issue commands to the Council and the people of Alesgan. He should determine the focus of Alesgan, and influence the people towards achieving goals for the good of the server as a whole. He will not, however, have the power to outright order citizens around at whim. He can lay out plans for the people of Alesgan to carry out, and offer rewards for carrying out those plans, but he cannot outright tell anyone what to do, unless they are in violation of the rules.

His power should be kept in check by the ability of the Council to order an impeachment of the King with full consent of the Council and at least partial consent of the people. Like all citizens, the King should have to pay for all of his own land and possessions with legitimately acquired goods.

If the people of Alesgan have an issue with a decision the King has made, they can make a plea to the Council to hold a vote on whether or not the decision should be redacted. They can overrule with a 3/4 vote by the Council.

In the event that the King is found to be abusing his powers, such as spawning castles of iron or diamond or giving himself all the tools he needs, the Council will have the ability to decide what the appropriate punishment should be, whether it be temporary relief of the King from his powers or any other reasonable punishment. In the event the King is unable to lead due to his punishments, the Prince will take his place, retaining the title of Prince unless the King has been banished from his position or exiled.

    6. What do you feel the role of the Council should be?

-The council's civil powers should be significantly more refined. As it stands, the only defined powers of the council are to "maintain the clan" and vote on completely undefined "important matters". Under these vague descriptions, the Council has little guidance as to what exactly is expected of them. As King, I would work to make sure to define exactly what the council could do. Instead of putting them in charge of voting on "Important matters", I would put them in charge of voting on everything from election organization to civil disputes to festival organization.

Additionally, I feel the council should not have so much building power as it currently does. Having the ability to spawn items and move mountains at a snap of the fingers does not contribute to the council's governmental abilities. The power to do so will be instead given to a new caste, one whose architectural prowess will need to be proven.

Abilities such as teleportation and compass-jumping, however, are essential to moderating clan member activities, and will remain within the council's use.

    7. What are your feelings on whitelists?

-I feel that whitelists are largely ineffective on the internet, where no background checks are possible. Unless we create a convoluted system in which each player wishing to join has to go through a ridiculous system to prove themselves, the whitelist system would not have any protective effect. As far as a system of protection goes, I believe that a player should have to be evaluated as a guest (unable to edit blocks) on the server itself before becoming a part of the clan proper.

    8. Who is your favorite past leader of Alesgan, and what do you most admire about them?

-My favorite past leader of Alesgan was Marenkon. He had an idea for the clan, which shined through his every action. He knew what he wanted to do and he found people who wanted to do it, and together they all worked together to create a wonderful, cooperative clan.

    9. How do you feel about the current way the government is structured, and how would you change it?

-The current government structure itself is quite sound. If I were to change anything, however, it would be how the different castes work. For detailed information on caste powers, see the appropriate bullets (6 for Council and 5 for King)

I propose that the ability to make significant modifications to terrain, such as the ability to use things like cuboid that can delete or create large swathes of land in an instant, be reserved to a special class of architect, who will help manage land along with the council. (If elected I will elaborate more on this)

    10. What plugins do you feel are essential to running a good server?

-While I personally am a little uncomfortable with heavy use of protective plugins, I acknowledge their vital part in the everyday life of Alesgan citizens.

-Block protection should play a major role in the life of a citizen of Alesgan, but not be totally overpowering. The city's facilities itself, such as the streets and publicly owned buildings, will always be cuboid-protected. When it comes to players' houses, however, block protection will come at a small fee, which will remain in effect for about a month before needing renewal. Houses themselves, however, are free, and everyone will be given a free plot of land to work with.

-Door and mechanism protection will largely be a luxury. If one wishes to protect their door from intruders completely, the best solution is to simply place an iron door and make sure the house is cuboid-protected. The intruder cannot place a button or lever to activate the door, and they cannot knock the door itself down. It will still be possible to purchase a server-side door lock for a block of diamond, or other reasonably high price. Additionally, people can pay a smaller price to have a complete redstone contraption protected from activation.

-Chest protection is the most lenient of the protective systems. So long as the chest is placed within your cuboid-ed house, it is completely locked to outsiders.

Luxury plugins, such as Runecraft, are best used in small doses. Plugins that add to gameplay are often expensive in terms of server performance, and while the extra bonuses they provide are always welcome, server performance is top priority. Smaller plugins, therefore, are quite likely to be allowed, provided they do not alter the balance of gameplay significantly.
