Even though the performance of Minecraft isn't bad for some people, I don't see the harm behind making it better for those who do have issues. There are only two really big issues with performance, in my opinion:
1. Server issues. As mentioned previously in this thread, even on a nearly lag-free server movement prediction is a bit off and it's very difficult to be able to fight mobs properly (without a bow)
2. Chunk loading. This is a less obvious one, except for those who use Optifine. I don't see why the mod isn't implemented, it offers increased performance with no downside...
Kind of unusual to know that NPC villagers are not even conceptualized yet. I mean, I guess I can understand their not having made any physical progress on them despite the fact they are essential to one of the major additions to 1.8, but to not have any idea at ALL about how they will function? Seems unusual.
It's a nearby desert biome's grass spreading over. With the rivers providing very steep biome changes, it will become a common occurence to see discolored grass.
I felt the exact same way for several seconds after seeing this image. Then I got over it and realized that this change would probably not have any effect on how I play at all.
I'm guessing he removed the fog toggle button becaue peopel were using it as a n X-ray exploit. Keep toggling the view distance, see where caves and such are. There may be more to it, but that is probably part of it.
and honestly, does changing the fog distance really need to be a single key stroke? Thats something you typially set for your computer, and forget about it. I change it on accident far more often than I intentionally change it. It was probably there for debugging in the first place.
Well for those of us with less capable computers, it's a godsend of versatility. We can easily snap the fog away when we want to see a vista, then when we're done bring it back down to usable levels. I don't see the logic behind making a feature harder to use because of a bug, as opposed to fixing the bug itself.
Meh. I'd call it a new venue of warfare: Being able to siege someone's fortress and having to attempt to wait them out would be a very interesting kind of battle to fight
Funnily enough I have no idea where I got my name from. It sorta just... came to me. I do not remember how but I would certainly not choose any other alias.
Well I think your answer pretty much spoke for itself: It's because nobody's ever heard of them. These seem like an awesomely efficient tool however! I suppose I'll install one in my house when I get the chance :tongue.gif:
Is anybody else disappointed with Rotten Flesh? Why would anybody eat it instead of regular food? And why would you possibly refill your food bar to GAIN health, if it means losing health?
Desperate situations, simply! You're trapped in a cave with nothing left but your fists. Your hunger bar is slowly draining as you wander around. Even zombies start to look awful delicious once you're delirious enough...
Well then perhaps there's an issue with the teleportation. But the Enderman WAS clearly trying to move to the player, and would have had the drop into water not prevented him.
I presume you're referring to the video with the floating village, in which the Enderman in question is atop one of the houses surrounded by water. When attacked, the Enderman DID move forward, but not so much that he dropped off the side of the house. After all, if he did that he would land in the water and melt.
In an ideal situation however the Enderman would've teleported to a building nearer the player, so I do suppose they could use a bit more work.

So over the weekend they're going to add a completely new feature, bugtest it thoroughly, and have it ready by Monday?
Not bloody likely with the kind of time frame Mojang works with
