posted a message on [1.4.5] I Am Taking Mod Requests!
    Request:

    Village Talk

Sound 'barks' for NPC villagers to emit, much like how cows moo, pigs oink, and sheep baa.
The sounds would be a nonsense mix of monosyllabic mumble grumble grunts that aren't words, but kind of sound like they could be.

100% client-side, aesthetic only. It would make villages feel a lot more lively.

    But on the glitter page itself, QuickThirdPerson is still saying 1.4.2? Is that a typo? I really miss QTP ;_;

Thank you for your response mamiyaotaru, and good luck with that neat lookin' chatbubbles mod!

Actually, a server I used to play on once had a lot of traffic. play.lostcraft.net --they used to have a sprawling spawntown last I checked where a LOT of folks used to hang out all the time.

posted a message on [OBSELETE] CUI - GUI Visualizer for WorldEdit [v1.4.6]
When I used to be staff on a server or two, WECUI was indispensible. I adored using its selection modes to guide my construction...

Even when I wasn't copypasting volumes of blocks!

Being able to visually PROJECT your build-space as a light grid in-world ALONE was incredibly useful. Now that I've decided I won't get involved in server admin again, I miss it terribly...

Is there any possibility of there being a client-side-only 'measurement tools' mod based on WECUI's selection system? Because I would love the holy heck out of that ;_; you have no idea.

So I've completely switched back to Zan's. Although there are some things about Rei's that still feel more... I don't know... "polished"? Well, that polish isn't sufficient to override the wealth of features and capability you've created in Zan's minimap.

Your beacon-based waypoint projection system, now that it has the Signs option, somehow manages to both match the usefulness of Rei's waypoint markers AND be a totally unique interpretation of the feature!

Furthermore, your minimap's coordination between Netherspace and Overworld is INDISPENSIBLE! Even when I WAS primarily still using Rei's, I would switch back to yours whenever I was creating nether portals!

If you really WANTED to, I know exactly how you could ice the cake and make this minimap a completely undisputable champion among all minecraft minimaps:

    1. Map display refinements:
    a. Biome mode--displaying biome areas color-coded. Yeah, that'd pretty much steal the feature directly away from Rei's >_>; but it'd be useful!
    b. Surface only--Technically already exists if you turn off cave mode.
    c. Sight level cross-section--Would sort of be like an 'always on' cave mode, even on the surface. It's useful for seeing passes in mountains on the surface.
    d. Automatic--What we normally have.
    e. Lightspace--An entirely NEW idea, rendering walkable squares as either Green (bright enough to grow plants, Yellow (not bright enough to grow plants but too bright for mobs to spawn), or Red (dark enough that hostile mobs will spawn).
    f. The ability to switch modes on a key bind.
    2. Waypoint aesthetic/functional refinement:
    a. The ability to bind 'create a new waypoint' to a key.
    b. The option to have a waypoint set to a 'random color' if you don't feel like picking one in particular.
    c. A small refinement on 'distance to waypoint' significant figures. perhaps to .01 blocks. (centimeters!)

Of course no one can fault you if you don't want to borrow any of these ^^; you made a great map, and it'll stay great even if you don't implement any new stuff! I'm just grateful that you actually listen to us! You're an awesome modder and an inspiration, Mr. MamiyaOtaru!

On an alternate subject, Do you remember Lahwran's WorldEdit CUI?
Even when I didn't have access to worldedit's actual 'editing' features, its 'selection' features (spheres, cylinders, cuboids, prisms) were incredibly useful when it came to creating 'guides' for me to build along, to help me keep track of how long certain features of a structure were supposed to be... or to help me lay out the edge of a round tower, for instance!

How feasible do you think it would be for one to create a 100% client-side 'measurement system' mod that projects nonphysical 'geometry grids' inside the game space to help builders coordinate their constructions?

Soooooo in zan.settings what do I put in "Zoom Key:" for the number pad minus key? "-" did nothing... took a few shots in the dark and "MINUS" did nothing either. Don't think it'd be worthwhile to do the variations of "NUM_MINUS"...

Also, I was curious, what does Zan's minimap look like when integrated with your motion tracker?

Furthermore, I hadn't noticed that your beacons were practically a direct response to my requests O_O Holy crap! Thank you SO much for this, MamiyaOtaru! they're AWESOME! And in a completely different way than Rei's markers are! I think I need both of these now XD I'm just so happy about this! You are a Sir of the highest caliber and absolutely MADE OF WIN! Thank you! :D

posted a message on [Request] Testificate Sounds
Sound mods! God I love sound mods! MAtmos gives you context-sensitive ambient sound, Better Sound muffles noises that aren't in line of sight and figures out appropriate echo and reverb for caves and the nether, and the SoundPacks Mod, which enables me to have very appealing-sounding walking around breaking blocks and general adventuring noises, and all my mobs from chickens to creepers have a nice set of neat appropriate noises.

My minecraft sounds like a very interesting place now!

Well... most of it does. Just not the villages.

These are ostensibly representative of sentient beings, but they're more silent than creepers. Not even a peep even when they die. It's freaky, really. They ought to grunt, babble incoherently to us or to each other, mutter quietly on their own, and cry out when they're in pain. My base has testificate apartments that bustle with activity every day, but all I hear are doors and footsteps.

    so many footsteps...

    SO MANY DOORS!! ;_;

It'd be even better if these entities had moods that can be used for context (and maybe examples):
Ow you hit me, (ARG! OOF!)
Hey you're that jerk that hit me, (HARUMPH! Grr... )
Oh noes there are zombies, (YAHH! EEEH!)
I am happily socializing. (mix of nonsense syllables: urp morb vub hurr vip wob neb hov) (kind of like the goron sounds from Zelda: Ocarina of Time?)
What trade would you like to make? (above with questioning tone)

    How hard would it be?

... Oh and also, a quiet little 'bloop bloop' noise for the squids would be nice too, but eh, whatevs.

    TL;DR:
Testificates should make talky noises. It'd be nice.

posted a message on [1.3.2] Sound Packs! V2.0 (Change the Sounds!) (DISCONTINUED) [Forge]
Update: So apparently Forge has FML, which stands for FORGE MOD LOADER, which does the things that Risugami's ModLoader is supposed to do.

However, another mod pack I use called CJB Mods (I consider it a MUST HAVE) is incompatible with Forge.

I had a nice little loadout that I was using happily for a very long time:
    • Rei's minimap for its waypoints that project 3d in world space with a suspended name and distance label and its biome mapping,
    • Zan's minimap for its impressive and intuitive cave and nether mapping, as well as its waypoint synchronization between Nether and Overworld,
    • CJB's map for its non-player entity radar,
    • CJB's more info for realtime feedback on framerate, exact number of tool uses remaining, current buff/debuff effects on me, the current light level where I stand, the type of biome I'm occupying, the exact in-game time in hh:mm clock format,
    • CJB's "cheats" for use as a server staffer where flight and variable speed were useful (or sometimes required by my superiors!) in constructing public facilities,
    • CJB's chat for handy name auto-complete and logging...
    • MineLittlePony because yay ponies
    • SoundPacksMod for obvious reasons,
    • MAtmos for even more obvious reasons,
    • Optifine
    • modloader
    • Player API client
    *sigh*

    Guess those days are over.

    Quote from Hyomoto

Forge ... tends to cater towards people packing Minecraft like a suitcase.

... I think that was the most convincing motivation to use Forge that I have personally ever heard. I have what I consider to be a pretty daunting mod loadout.

I originally came here to complain that maybe the thread title shouldn't say "compatible with MAtmos" if MAtmos requires modloader and the thread internally says INCOMPATIBLE with modloader. This seems to imply that if you are using SoundPacks, you CAN'T use modloader at all, thus effectively disabling all of your mod-loader-requiring mods.

But y'know what? I'm just gonna jam them all in. Pack it like a suitcase :3 the worst that could happen is that I need to tear out my .minecraft directory and redownload all my mods, but I've done that in excess of five times since 1.3.x came out.

Kind of disappointed. Adding forge for just this mod seems like an awfully big investment. I'm really going to miss having my special sound packs, but adding superfluous software will only make my minecraft install even less stable... *sigh*
