posted a message on Creating Custom Shaders in Minecraft 1.7.2
Oh but this has nothing to do with adjustment sliders; I mean the ability to drag-drop entirely different shaders into the resource pack system.

I've seen lovely things done with slightly cheaty/hackey/shortcutty godrays and bloom with other shaders in the past - ones that don't affect geometry at all, and are strictly post-process just like the current ones. Sadly whenever I edit the current shader files themselves hoping to poke them and see what they do, Minecraft won't even load them. It doesn't even try! No error messages! It just outright disables the super secret settings button such that clicking does absolutely nothing other than play a random sound. I can tell!

I can tell because when I hit F3, it doesn't list any shaders loaded!

Has no one else found a way around this?

Hi! I'm bumping your thread because this is obscenely relevant. It boggles my mind that nobody else has said anything on the subject.

Personally I was looking into modifying post-processing shaders myself, but whenever I altered the .json files, minecraft wouldn't load them! I am curious to see if anyone has ever gotten around this.

I would delete this post. Sadly the option doesn't exist. After what happened happened, I was going through flashbacks. It triggered my ptsd. I'm sorry.

This is why I don't pvp. I tried to play where my friend was playing... because my friend was there. But I can't handle this.

I really wish your server didn't make it okay for people to grief and kill. It would have been perfect otherwise.

As stated by FCCSteve, I have found this utility to be the only viable option.

However, I'm hurting for one particular piece of functionality:

All I'm looking for right now is something that will give me a greyscale height map of the world. All I want is the height map. Can I get a height map option, please? No need of biome colors or foliage; the only colors required are white, black, and shades of gray, and the only determinant for shade being the altitude of the block sampled.

Is this hard to do? If so, I apologize, please disregard.

I'm just hoping that it's easy for you to do.

I would have used your MCAMapColor.exe utility already to set all block colors to a uniform grey or black, but unfortunately I cannot run it.

Attempting to run MCAMapColor.exe pops an error message window: "MCAMapColor / Component 'comctl32.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid."

MamiyaOtaru, I've taken to playing FTB... and it's freaking awesome holy crap. I'm incredibly pleased to see that FTB Ultimate defaults to YOUR VoxelMap and not rei's anymore! I would like to propose that this means you won, good sir!

However I'm looking to add No Void Fog/No Dimming. Since FTB Ult is 1.4.7... I'm not sure which version of No Void Fog to use, since there doesn't seem to be an entry explicitly for 1.4.7.

    Oh gosh. Wouldn't you know it, I actually kinda' forgot I made something!! HAH! Sorry about that guys. Just checked the replies... ^^;

    Sorry to those of you who can't get it working. I think I'll have to make a video or something about how to make it work. It'd be nice for everybody to be able to hear this if they want to, not just people who can follow my strange and obscure instructions ^^;

    Quote from Bra!nl3ss

How did you know or find out the name for the files? I mean the other mobs have a file that is called say1, most of the time. But the in the case of the villagers it says default1, did you asked the mod autor or is there a reference file?

I noticed that too, but the individual who helped me with this was the creator of Audiotori--Hurricaaane. Hurricaaane was gracious enough to eventually answer a few questions I had about how Audiotori knew to replace/add sounds for certain mobs, and if it was even looking for sounds for Villagers. And so he told me the directory. See, Minecraft only has a few events that trigger sounds--damage, death, and standing around idling... so those are the only types of sounds I could come up with.

As far as I know, Audiotori is the only thing that's making this work O_o the rest of it is in minecraft's code...

    That said...

    Quote from Dcluigimario

What other sounds do you know about? Is there a Jump sound for Steve?

If you had a mod that created an event hook for 'whenever steve jumps' and played a sound for it, Audiotori could probably override its sound by merely loading a soundpack that has the same sound-name in the same place in the sound3 directory tree. As far as my understanding of it goes, it works like this:

Minecraft code: Okay I need to look for a particular event...
    Particular Event: Oh hai! :3
Minecraft code: OH HEY IT'S YOU! Now... **checks the instructions** okay, now I need to open %appdata%\roaming\.minecraft\resources\sound3\mob\villager\defaulthurt#.ogg--
Audiotori: HOLD IT!! Here, use THIS sound3 folder!
Minecraft: Oh... okay! Uh... oh yeah, there's a file here that looks like the one I'm looking for... wait... uh.. there's like ten of them... they're all separated by a number on the end... Which one!? defaulthurt1.ogg? defaulthurt3.ogg? ...Oh well, I'll just pick one at random, I'm sure it'll be fine! **plays sound**.

So if you had a mod that told minecraft to look in, say, a hypothetical folder of some kind, such as, for instance, if it called for an %appdata%\roaming\.minecraft\resources\sound3\steve\ directory and instructed minecraft to play a file named jump#.ogg, you could create a folder in the .minecraft\audiotori\ directory (if you have audiotori installed) that contains your own sound3\steve\, Audiotori will force minecraft to use that one's jump#.ogg.

at least... I think that's how it works, so far x_x; the first step is finding a mod that tries to play a sound whenever you jump.

I readily accept that bronies are not universally liked... but I do need to at least say that I love this texture pack the most of all out of all packs, and it occasionally gives me sads that the MineLP pony armors clash terribly. I really wish... that there were isabella II style pony armor textures I could toss into Mine Little Pony's resources.

posted a message on MAtmos - Environmental sound atmosphere simulator
    Quote from Huskehsaysrawr

Hey Huricane! Are you ever going to add Sound dampening and echoes to your mod? This would be a huge thing to add to miencraft since how sound works never really makes sense, like randomly hearing a zombie when it's really like 20 blocks under you in a cave.
Or if you are actually down in the cave, and have no idea where the zombie is, or any of that.

Overall. Minecraft sound just never seemed to make any sense, So that's why i'm just pitching the idea to you.
I would love to see your awesome mod use sound dampening and sound reverberations in the future.

After having studied how MAtmos works quite a bit, I must regretfully inform that my understanding dissuades me of this being a possible direction of its development.

You see, however much MAtmos seems like it's actually aware of your surrounding environment, it really isn't at all.

It doesn't have a sense of direction or scale... really all it does is count blocks. Albeit it counts blocks in a smart way.

For instance, its determinant for what is or is not 'outside' is not, in fact, detecting that you are in physically enclosed space; rather, it's detecting the fact that there is no (or very little) sky light at your position.

To give truly useful context sensitive DSP effects or sound dampening, you'd need a mod that's actually aware of the geometry of the space that surrounds you, rather than one that counts the number of blocks around you of a specific type and then compares it to a database of presets that match the numbers.

Sure it's possible to make a mod that does that...

...but that mod isn't MAtmos. it's completely unrelated to what MAtmos does.

TL;DR: if MAtmos were a cheese grater, you'd be asking for the equivalent of a butter churn. Which is to say, yes they both have to do with dairy, but their processes are otherwise almost entirely dissimilar and do not ever really cross paths. Likewise, MATmos and a real time spatial reverb + attenuation simulator both have to do with sound, but their processes are almost entirely dissimilar and do not ever really cross paths either.

So, is nocheatplus flipping out with the false positives when it blocks inventorytweaks, or are they actively sitting around their table in their dark council chamber muttering "We MUST destroy that meddling InventoryTweaks, deliberately, if it's the last thing we do!"?

There is absolutely no hope of an option that won't hurt poor nocheatplus' feelings and make it throw tantrums at me just because I want my %$@#ing items in order? e_e

Cool mod though could be very annoying if there are a lot of them, just saying, but good mod.

I made it with the intention that when you have a lot of them, it actually sounds more like the babble of a crowd. I gotta admit I kinda' like how it all comes together, even when there's a HUGE number of them very nearby.

My hope is that it is no more annoying, or perhaps even slightly less annoying, then having a similar quantity of cows/chickens/sheep.

Of course, I feel I have a LOT of adjustments to make...

THIS SOUNDPACK REQUIRES HURRICAAANE'S AUDIOTORI SOUNDPACK MANAGER MOD!

    Get Audiotori Here

Talk of the Town is a soundpack expansion for Audiotori that enables Testificates to speak.

Of course, they don't speak English, but rather, Testifican.

Which is to say, it's complete and utter gibberish that I came up with by mashing meaningless syllables together in a way that sounded nominally foreign and pronouncing it all with absolutely the most herp-derp voice I could muster (and warp to be a little bit more strange) that always believed Testificates should have.

The result is a lexicon of villager communication:
    • 14 phrases they bark at each other, at animals, at themselves, and at you,
    • 7 upset exclamations interjected when taking damage,
    • 5 hilarious wails of existential despair when dying.
Now your villages are lively places full of cheerful babbling voices.
Or at least they can be,
If you Download Talk of the Town Here

04/14/2013 - changed the phrases. Something was bothering me about them before. Now I feel that they sound more like they ought, especially when you have a whole crowd of the buggers.
