posted a message on Why most are hating 1.9?

Most people say that, but people like me (those people playing since alpha) have spent SO MUCH TIME mastering this, and we're not ready for a possible new generation of people to be better than the grandpas of the game. Also this effects the YouTubers like huahwi, a expert PvPer, and now he'll just be mediocre.

First things first, I have a lot of respect for "minecraft veterans". With that out of the way, I think this change can benefit a lot of the PvP community. Change is inevitable, we just have to get used to. Its like every other update, only this time its PvP, not map making or redstone or building.

I agree. So this is what I say.

i think 1.9 is bad because it ruined PvP by adding cool downs seriously dinnerbone, what the heck.

I think cool downs are what was needed for a long time.

That's a really neat concept. I may use something similar in my survival world to get an idea of my village's population.

I really love this wacky spot, but I can't decide what to build... (note the main floating island is massive, bigger than you can really tell from the snapshot)

You could do something like what ImAnderzel did in Mindcrack Season 4, and build an old village on top of the islands.

posted a message on Best way to mine lots of obsidian?
    Quote from Cryptopian»

I need a lot of obsidian for a construction project. The problem I'm having is that when I mine a block of obsidian a lot of times it's a thin crust of obsidian on top of lava, and the block I just mined falls into the lava underneath and is lost.

What I'm trying now is scooping out pails full of lava, putting them in a mold made of dirt, and hitting them with water. That way I don't loose any lava/obsidian, but it's boring and time-consuming work. And it's hard to reach the lava in the middle of a lava pool to scoop it out.

Is there a better way to mine large quantities of obsidian in survival?

Just pace a bucket of water next to the obsidian your mining. If the obsidian is right over a patch of lava, the lava will turn into obsidian.

Well interestingly your "everyone" doesn't' include the 20 or so people I know who play Minecraft. Half of them including me don't care one way or another about "the new combat" and the most of the rest like it. The ones who don't like some of the new things are still going to play Minecraft for all the other things they do like about it and will live with the new combat. Please try not to make it sound like you speak for everyone who plays minecraft when you don't. As was already stated you may hate it but others like it. Also I wonder what " the more they use it the less they like it " means. It doesn't take me any time at all to decide I don't like something but, I, as well as most people may get to like something by working with it, which I think is the opposite of what you are trying to say.

Well said...that's all I can say.

    thanks rodabon,

i can't post pics because they are "too large" apparently but using half slabs won't works as I need the block the redstone is on to be powered. I don't beleive slabs can be powered?

Ive seen people try using longer delays and apparently repeaters don't create buds so I think I'll try that.

ive looked at my post and saw it looked quite angry. I'm not pissed off at buds, I find them quite useful but they are, in some cases, unpredictable. I have not usually designed my own redstone builds so I have never come across many block update glitches. I'm sure I'll find a way to fix it.

does orientation affect it in any way?

I tend to stay away from buds because they utilize glitches, which are eventually going to get fixed. :P

No, it's not a bad update.

We say that we need more strategy because we do.

Skywars with shields and cooldowns? That sounds great to me.

    There still are "normal swords".

You'll fight the wither by NOT spam-clicking.

    On Elytra:
    1. They are extremely rare
    2. They don't actually let you fly

The only way you can get noclip is by using spectator mode, and that wasn't a 1.9 addon.

To add on, the elytra can only be obtained in the ender-dungeon-thingy, so it is end game content. Chances are you have full diamond armour and whatnot by that stage of the game, so the elytra is a nice addition to help motivate players to check put the dungeons. Its a way of balancing the fact that these ender-dungeons no longer have beacons.

    Quote from Rosebine»

Yes, baby zombies will be able to spawn, but...you might be able to eliminate them, by having 1x1 holes in your floor. Baby zombies will fall...while spiders won't be able to pass through..?

You are correct. You can also use a villager to lure the baby zombies away.

    When beta 1.8 was released:
"GAH NO! SPRINTING WILL RUIN PVP! BLOCKING WILL RUIN PVP! THEY SHOULD HAVE JUST LEFT IT!!11! MINECRAFT IS DEAD WHOEVER DISAGREES SUCKS"
    After a while:
    "Sprinting and blocking are great!"

    When potions were released:
"GAH NO! POTIONS WILL RUIN PVP! THEY SHOULD HAVE JUST LEFT IT!!11! MINECRAFT IS DEAD WHOEVER DISAGREES SUCKS"
    After a while:
    "Potions are great!"

    When enchantments were released:
"GAH NO! ENCHANTMENTS WILL RUIN PVP! THEY SHOULD HAVE JUST LEFT IT!!11! MINECRAFT IS DEAD WHOEVER DISAGREES SUCKS"
    After a while:
    "Enchantments are great!"

All the way up to today:
"GAH NO! ALL THIS WILL RUIN PVP! THEY SHOULD HAVE JUST LEFT IT!!11! MINECRAFT IS DEAD WHOEVER DISAGREES SUCKS"
After a while (and lots even now):
    "1.9 is great!"

I guess a few people will quit. Good riddance ;)

If you really want to make an impact, go onto minecraft suggestions on reddit (they look there), be respectful and make constructive criticism about what can be done. Don't blindly say Minecraft is dead and the game is ruined ect. They won't listen, and people will strongly disagree with you. Also, don't say PvP was completely perfect in previous versions. That's obviously not true, and if you try to say it, I'm sure everyone will explain why you're wrong. Just kindly say what you think should change, and why.

Keep in mind I don't fully agree with 1.9 changes. I'm glad they're trying to move away from spam clicking and trying to add stragety, and although the system they have right now does work, it's not the best they can do. I didn't just whine and complain, though, because I knew that wouldn't do jack squat. I just respectfully suggested what I thought could change.

    Well said, well said.

The new PvP is great for PvP servers.

However, singleplayer is completely messed up because of how you have to wait to attack mobs (terrible when you're getting swarmed by them).

An option to disable the new PvP would be nice.

Well, the knockback enchantment is now useful, and you can do some spinny-swirly thing that also knocks all surrounding mobs back a block.
