    I don't think this mod is for you. He has stated many times he made this mod for himself, so if he wanted to make a lesser mode he would have made the whole mod like it. I cannot give you suggestions as for other mods to look for, but I am fairly sure they exist.

    That is the point, horses function as a effective nerf to Minecarts. Moreover, I don't see why you seem obsessed with not making your rail system looking good. It just doesn't make much sense to me to remove a major building project in a game that is about building, especially since rail lines tend to be more end-game activities after you have some form of mob-farm running. Horses wouldn't be out of place if they were designed to function as Minecart replacement, but with who we have developing Minecraft, that was a long shot anyway. Balance seems to be the last thing on their mind.

    You can get planks from logs by putting them in the crafting area with an axe in there as well. As for punching things, no that isn't effective. Use axes as your killing tools, I never leave without 2 in my hotbar.

    Yeah, the new launcher isn't great, hopefully they will make it easier to install some time in the future. As for third party tools, I suppose those are useful to people who don't want to create a Windows batch file for every installation of Minecraft they need. I just run into more problems using third party tools than the aformentioned files.

    Try installing BTW by itself, Minecraft Forge is probably your problem. As for Optifine and your other mod, don't use them, they might also cause problems. :3

    Aquaducts are already in the game, use Hardcore Buckets and you will feel the need. As for piping why would we need that when flowing water already works?

    As for my signature it hasn't been updated in ages due to me tending to lurk and not log in very often. BTB was a mod "pack" (using this term very loosely) that combined two mods in one thing. It died a long time ago, and as such I just haven't had much motivation to change it till now. As for your whole "Player Choice" arguement, again I point you towards how mods are handled in other games. There is no reason to expect ANY RANDOM 2 mods to work together, ever.

    Then obviously you don't use many mods for other games. Compatability is on a by mod basis, and yet no one complains. Minecraft is unique in this case and if you listen to other modding communities very.... juvinile as a result of it. Hell, the mod packs (if you can call them that) in other games are done with express permissions and often are tweaked to make a cohesive experience. In Minecraft... it isn't done this way. Seriously if the mods you play aren't enough by themselves then you need better mods. This one works very well for me and is the only one I need.

    Nimh, you claim that the normal player dies alot on normal and hard levels. While I can't dispute that, I play exclusivly hard or hardcore modes and it doesn't take much effort at all to never die, especially once iron armor or better is achieved(endermen are the exception).

    XVeris I don't know what to tell you other than install BTW last and see if another mod complains, and if it does get rid of it and keep trying till it works.

    One of the mods you are running is overwriting one of the BTW's files. Make sure to install it last, although I am pretty sure BTW is now not compatable at all with Rei's minimap.

    It's the locked thread in the BTW discussion section. I wish I had been around to comment on it, but reality is whatever Flowerchild does, he does and it is his mod. I am fine with whatever decision he makes. If I wasn't happy, I would make my own mod being a programmer myself. I applaud him for maintaining his design ideas through time.

    Meh, I never really have problem with food, which is glorious since I play only hardcore mode and only have lost a couple of worlds. I've never found a mooshroom on my own, the biome is a bit too rare for my use.

    Those are Dragon Orbs and allow you to harvest experience from your mob trap, which is used to enchant your things. Soul Forged Steel needs scrolls to enchant, which are rare drops, so you need a mob trap. Also I have no clue what your rant is about.....

    Your stewing pot was stoked, that ignited the hellfire dust. Make concetrated hellfire with a unstoked stewing pot and you are gold.

    Well you can grow giant trees with two blocks on the sides of saplings, and I have seen a few underground tree farms that function under the priciple of a six block vertical space makes a normal tree, even if it is nearly completely surrounded by solid blocks. Why this works... I wish I knew, but I have yet to get it to work with a pine tree (haven't tried birch or jungle ones yet) Seeing as how leaves aren't a normal block, they don't affect solid blocks when spawning, much less replace them. It just takes alot more bonemeal to get them to grow.
