Since we're on the topic, I have an injunction to file here. FlowerChild, I painted my toilet gold 3 weeks ago. Clearly your latest feature is in violation of my intellectual property and utility patent I shall be filing soon.

So when leprechauns are added can there be a pot of gold and rainbows? I really need gold because nether farm is too hard.

Okay seriously, I didn't realize it has nearly been two years since notch first discussed the api. I agree, it definitely now falls under the pipe dream or pipe nightmare category depending on your perspective. Given whose implementing it, definitely nightmare.

I don't understand what you mean here.

I think whatever tp he uses is out of date and he thinks that's somehow your fault?

posted a message on Blank Music Disc
I actually love this at its basic concept, a way to record note block setups to a music disc. That functionality would be pretty neat. I'd rather it be added via a new 'microphone' type of block that will record notes played in a certain range to a music disc. This would allow a player to record from a circuit controlling the note block sounds automaticly.

What you're looking for is a vanilla server. I suggest checking out the server sub forums for one that suits your play style. They do exist.

posted a message on And so the downfall of the PC version begins
I think its a bit of a stretch to begin saying a few aesthetic features exclusive to Xbox are going to kill the PC version. You do know the game has more than 40 million players and most of those are on PC right?
The control system, mods, server wrappers, etc all suit a better gameplay experience on PC rather than on xbox. In the case of this game mouse and keyboard trump Xbox controls and that's pretty clear. I know most of my friends who have Xbox and PC minecraft enjoy the Xbox for the occasional minecraft project however they prefer the PC much much more.
PC gaming still has its place man, minecraft is one of the strongest cases for that. Its not going anywhere.

You will get everything new except for Jungles.

False. Traveling into new areas to generate new chunks will create all terrain currently in the game. It make take some time to find one, but it will be no different than a new world with 1.4.x generation.

While it might make transportation easier (which might not be all that bad in itself anyways), it wouldn't be all that great for it to work one day of the year. Skis are skis, they don't suddenly stop working.

It would only really make Steve move faster, and given the difficulty of dodging trees and terrain height changes I imagine they won't be any faster method of travel than sprinting without some manual work to create a ski I slope of sorts. This is just pure speculation though.

Very neat! This is pretty cool! Does anyone know if firework's flight distance can be boosted by tnt or their flight path altered by tnt?

posted a message on Witches and Bats: Good Idea or Waste of Memory?
Bats are a nice ambiance I'll admit, but I think there were more worthwhile things Mojang could have spent that time on such as the api, other more useful features, etc.
Witches aren't bad in concept, but their drops are over powered and negate the need to mine redstone and allow a player to entirely skip going to the nether for glowstone. That alone lets a player bypass the very small 'tech tree' vanilla has entirely. I'd rather have seen unique drops, or drops of some of the more common and already easier to obtain things such as mushrooms, or spider eyes, or even a unique resource.

I would imagine the ski's would have a use in a snow biome? Ice already has sliding, so sliding on snow should be within the capability of the game.

posted a message on Better Than Wolves Total Conversion!
Slimes spawning in swamps is now vanilla. Btw previously changed the blocks slimes could spawn on which limited where they spawned. FCC then decided to split the usage of slime balls and glue in recipes thus making slimes more needed. So he changed the blocks slimes could spawn on again to allow them to spawn in swamps (on dirt) as vanilla intended. There is a config option in btw for disabling the slime changes, but this wouldn't help since vanilla allows this behavior.
One option would be to pave over the area with a block slimes don't spawn on.

In addition to the above replies as to why pipes aren't in btw, just look at the mod as a whole and the kind of designs it encourages. Its all about multi block systems that are large and clunky and really take some thought to construct. Btw really isn't about giving you something that has a single use and makes things easier. The pont being, canals and water movement are already made possible with what the mod currently has and such aqueduct systems fit very well in the current theme of btw. Pipes would be a really out of place feature. Take a look at the official forums, a lot of pics with water systems have been posted there. They are quite amazing. Pipes woulnt look as good or encourage player creativity like the current system does. I played btb when it existed and I did use pipes for water movement quite extensively. I am much more satisfied with my systems using pumps and aqueducts now than I ever was with pipes. It has a greater sense of accomplishment plus I love the big ass complicated mess of machinery look.

posted a message on Better Than Wolves Total Conversion!
Just wanted to give an update on my SSP world and recent changes with btw.
I have to say how much I love that btw continues to add stuff that further increases motivation to utilize precious features. A lot of mods put in one hit wonders that you never come back to because the next one hit wonder is unrelated. In btw everything is related and I love it!
Previously I've never had much motivation to build a full sized over world mob trap and automated sorting and processing. Even after the infernal enchanter was added I didn't see the need for me to build one as my unenchated armor was already pretty much invincible and the only thing I used xp for was pickaxe enchants, which to date there are no scrolls for.
Well with the addition of stakes, suddenly I needed lots of string I didn't have so I started a mob trap but lost interest and moved on to other projects. Well then explosives were adjusted which added a very cool process to make stuff that goes boom!
So I abandoned yet another project, conquered the end to get brimstone, and started building an explosives manufacturing building until I realized nitre was my limiting ingredient.
Back to the mob farm. Now I have figured out how to sort all the mob farm drops and added a large capacity for dragon orb collection. Currently I'm lighting up a massive cave network to increase the farm output.
I almost never automate something from start to finish. I stop and start it and usually have half a dozen incomplete things at once. But btw always provides a reason to go back to my incomplete systems and finish them. Thanks fc for always making design decisions that encourage the use and upgrades of older systems instead of merely replacing it with a new tier magic block that does it all.

Hey Risu, I just wanted to express my thanks for all the hard work you have put into making modding possible for the mod I play and all the others that build off your fine work! Its awesome that you take time out of your life to provide something like this for this community. I can't imagine the number of gameplay hours you have made possible for players as a result of modloader. I've been using modloader for over a year now. Thank you so much!
