    I'm getting an error with the latest beta version in the Nether. Everything's black and nothing gives off any light.

    I understand that, and I didn't mean Github. I meant just "Git" http://msysgit.github.io/ It's something that needs to be installed for 1.8 to work. Sorry for the trouble, I'd just love to get my server to 1.8

    Actually, that's just used to compile the jar, which they make you do yourself for some reason?
