What I'm looking for is exactly how much damage is reduced based on the armor's remaining durability.
Ie: if you have 8 armor bars left and get hit with a diamond sword - how much damage are you going to take?
I'm sure someone has a handy dandy chart somewhere but I couldn't find it via search.
Also i'm trying to understand how fast armor is damaged? I've seen a suit of leather armor drop 3 bars in a single fall so I'm thinking it's not on a per hit basis but the actual damage involved.
I play on a server with an economy plugin and we sometimes sell stuff from the 'machine' or rent out time in it.
Mostly we stock arrows for pvp but ideally we'll use tnt for trap/cannons if they ever get it working right on our server.
I consider it more an investment then an exploit. A good mob machine on SMP takes a lot of work to build. The outputs are nothing close to single so you need to make them a lot bigger if you want a similar output.
I'll vouch for this guy, he's a friend of mine & Kaliven's.

Reason you should you be accepted: Do you even read these? Lol, JK. There's no real special reason I should be accepted, but that's true for most anyone.

Incase he didn't get whitelisted. I'll be his Refferal. I knew him on another server and will vouch for him.
Reason you should you be accepted:
In Minecraft I enjoy building complex buildings on an epic scale. I enjoy building useful structures. Farms, traps and machinery. I also enjoy playing with game economies - buying, selling, trading & bartering.
I feel my skills and expertise would be beneficial to your server.
Information you would like to add:
I have over 16 years of mmo-style gaming experience going back to mudding in the early 90's.
I ask because on the last server I played on, most of the admins were in the 14-17 range and acted accordingly. Lots of immaturity such as:
Unstable rules - New rules made up on the fly for trivial reasons and often later undone (meaning lots of wasted hours building and rebuilding to accommodate the constantly shifting rules)
Admins spawning stuff, using super picks, etc.
One admin would rage/grief/threaten bans/break rules (such as warping to pvp) and get away with it due to being a friend of the server owner.
I'm a semi-hardcore builder with a several hundred hours of building experience. I enjoy game economies and running in-game shops & businesses. I enjoy complicated defense systems and large scale farming operations. I prefer function over style but still enjoy buildings with style.
I have read and agree to follow the rules as laid forth in the first post.
I'm interested in joining but have a few questions first.
How old are the server admins?
Is fire disabled?
Do you have a mod (such as leaf dropper) that fixes the leaves not decaying properly bug?
The last server I played on had trouble with thieves using xray texture packs to bypass security measures to get to chests, how does this server deal with that? I don't have an issue with thieves, but thieves + easy cheating can be a problem.
