posted a message on Server Map not Loading

My server is having a bit of a problem. Ever since yesterday (first confirmed time this has happened was 2/8/16 3 PM EST) the map plain doesn't load. It just shows up as a void.

I tried editing the map with /setblock. I timed out.

I downloaded the map (which took 2 hours, it's 7 gigabites because it's WorldPainter Generated) and only 3 or so chunks loaded. I could build outside of these chunks but they wouldn't render.

I suspected the server was just really tired and laggy, so I cleaned out a bunch of plugins that I wasn't using as much as I used to be and started the server up again after nearly 24 hours of being down (which solved a bunch of previous problems) but the server is still not working correctly.

I'm pretty sure I didn't do anything to the server. The server's been functioning well for about a month and I've only changed things on it twice (not including cleaning out plugins today).

I'm pretty sure that also the map didn't get too big. The worldborder is at 12,000 and every chunk that could be loaded has been since creation and has been explored since about two weeks ago now.

    Here's a screenshot.

    Plugins List

I learned when I went on to take the screenshot that doing anything having to do with the server (so not client-side) except chatting times me out eventually, although I could be naturally timing out, and the chat probably isn't actually getting through.

What went wrong? How can I fix it?

Note: The server's not public yet. Only a select few people me and other admins know IRL come on until it does become public.

PS Edit: I'm running 1.8 spigot.

Edit 2: I can worldedit the broken map.

How can one make a block look like the sky, like the Inverted Sky Blocks from OpenBlocks? Is it possible?

To an outsider. I'm trying to make a video (and keep it strictly minecraft recordings, for reasons) and this would be great.

posted a message on Cannot replace sounds
    Quote from Alvoria»

I'm going to go with "yes" as an answer to that very vague description.

May I suggest that instead of asking questions that we have no way of knowing the answer to, instead walk us through EXACTLY what you're doing to add your own sounds. Maybe even post a small pack with a sound you've replaced and a detailed explanation of what, exactly is supposed to be different.

Help us to help you by giving us the information that we need to help you!

Sorry. Pretty much what I do is I take a sound, convert it to .ogg format, then put it in the resource pack under\assets\minecraft\records, (for music discs, which is mainly what II'm trying to replace), with a name replacing an old music disc.

I've never been able to replace sounds. I do the steps told to me on the internets, but they never work. Is this false information or is there something screwed up?

posted a message on Summon Custom Body After Death

Hello, I need to summon a body (Zombie) when a player dies for something I'm building. That on its own is fine and easy, but I also need it to have the player's name, and the name being the player's team's color.

Do any of you fine Redstoners and Command Blockers know of anything that could do this?

posted a message on Fading One Skin into Another

Hello. I wanted to make a story using Minecraft (of course in a video). I'm making it in Minecraft since I don't have the money to get a set and props and won't ever.

Everything's running spiffingly so far, except for one thing: I need one skin to fade into another to show aging, for the last shot of the movie. I know how I would do it, but I'm no good at stuff like this. May I request someone here do this?

(And of course, you'll receive credit for this).

The two skins are attached. If you do this, can you make 6-10 new skins (8-12 in total)? You might be able to tell what kind of movie this will be by looking at the skins.

posted a message on Is there a way that players on one team can see who their teammates are, but non-teammates cannot?
    Quote from Legomastertt»

Otherwise you could have it so the names of the teammates only render for other people on that team (or vice-versa) using /scoreboard teams option "team name" nametagvisibility hideforotherteams (not sure about that command, I'll fix it when I get to a computer, in the meantime you might want to use tab complete)

This is exactly what I was trying to get, but I was open minded to other ways of doing things, which is why I worded the question that way. Thanks! I'll try that, but if it's not the right command I'll search around for the correct one.

I felt this thread might be the best place to put this question.

I know it would be possible to use /tellraw to tell them, but it might be forgotten, or drowned out.

If you're making a server, and the prison one wins out, do not make it an OP Prison. Those things are terrible, I have no idea how there are so many.

posted a message on Sky Block (For Mapmaking)

For map making, Sky Blocks, which look like the sky does at the angle you would be looking at the sky from, in the biome you're in, would be an improvement. It would be used to block things behind it while looking like the sky was there. To be the most optimal, it would act as if it were transparent, like glass, and let light through, but not actually be see-through.

I know that Open Blocks adds this, however it's for 1.7.10, so it cannot be used with features from 1.8+, and it's a mod, so making maps using it isn't exactly fair.
And, trying to retexture glowstone doesn't exactly work as you can see its shadows.

In conclusion, this is a simple to explain concept, that surely shouldn't be too difficult to make, although I don't have much Java programming experience, so I don't know for sure. Obviously, since it's for mapmaking, it would be creative only.

posted a message on May I Have Your Opinions on a Pokémon Map?

I would like to know whether I should use Pixelmon or Vanilla with lots of programming?

Pros of Pixelmon: Quick, Less bugs, I could make a modpack and use more mods
Pros of Vanilla: More accurate, Can be easily used
Cons of Pixelmon: Difficult for some people, Not perfect, Not all pokémon are in Pixelmon

Cons of Vanilla: More bugs, Limited by the constraints of Minecraft

Usually 50-70, but never higher unless I'm extremely lucky. But I have better chances of winning the lottery than getting 82 FPS.
