Jul 17, 2010Painting the picture all in black/white?Posted in: Discussion
you are a whiny *****.
Edit: for clarity..
I do not grief and i have been griefed several times. However this is an online game, and my reaction consists mainly of taking it like a man, not a quivering little spergwad like you.
MOD EDIT: If you want to present a counter-argument or to answer the question posted by the OP, that's fine. This response is way too rude however. Please don't do that again.
Oct 4, 2009Not visually, but give them the ability to detect activities such as digging or crafting within a certain range, and also give them the ability to dig, so that monsters could actually be a certain threat, even if you have a wall.Posted in: Classic - Survival Mode
Also, maybe 'smarter' monsters (like skeletons, not zombies, would be suspicious of man- made materials such as planks.
(which would make camouflage a viable strategy! ^^
'be silent, the zombies are nearby!'

Also, evilgrim, it's walls that are either EXTREMELY difficult for enemies to dig through, or just plain impossible.
Another aspect to prevent spamming of them, they take time to build?
or resources, or both. Anyway, they should be spammable to some extent.
Jul 27, 2009There is some discussion of this, and related manners here:Posted in: Suggestions
I'd not like team based blocks though... Atleast not the part with only one team being able to dig.
I'm more in favour of EVERYONE having a hard time digging through them.
I'm also more in favour of teams not being locked in team games. Most players would form alliences because they would be more likely to survive. You could be an heremit, but chances would be that you would be prestered alot by the other alliances for your resources. Also, harder to grow sufficient amount of food alone.
Jul 27, 2009Although, in most games, it is possible to see if someone is spectating for all players. This is a drawback, as an admin in Tremulous, hackers always became wary when i went to spectator mode was speccing.Posted in: Suggestions
Jul 27, 2009Well, my opinion is that it is possible to become better at these skills in- game without any system.Posted in: Suggestions
Some people are good at figthing, because they aim good, some people build smart, some are good at both, some suck.
I'm not sure what such a system might do.
But for example better picks for digging faster, better weapons for doing more damage, all made out of available raw material.
That's what I think would be nice.
Maybe players would be able to carry shields, and cover for their engineering friends as they advanced against a wall, the enemy team would almost have to go out and meet them in melee combat, if they didn't have any other kind of ingenious defense system.
Jul 27, 2009Sadly, yes. :sad.gif:Posted in: Suggestions
Private servers with good moderation seems to be the only solution.
That, or frequent resets.
However, I once frequented a server with a very nice custom map which was fun building on.
The server was not dedicated, and the host was very unstable, so we were getting disconnects every so often.
In minecraft, this is not that much of a hassle, it does not take a very long time to rejoin, and if you had spent a good amount of time on something, you would rejoin.
Griefers, however, and trolls in general, had a tendency not to come back, because they were not "connected" to anything on the server.
What about a system that autokicked you after 15 minutes or so (not a ban) the first couple of times, and then, when you were "established" you could stay for as long as you wished?
Or just a script that restarts the server every half hour.
Because this bad connection on this particular server, was actually more favourable than it was bad. We almost didn't get griefed at all! :smile.gif:
Just throwing in ideas because I' myself find it hard to op and keep track sometimes.
Jul 27, 2009About the ingenious water traps:Posted in: Suggestions
Such a thing as this could be useful to, you know, maybe stop the lesser griefing aka people running rampant with autoclick delete.
Even though it could not stop such things as "water traps" the griefer could easily do so without making an intricate trap..
Just because it is not foolproof, and cannot save EVERY situtation does not mean it is not worthwhile. I can think of an enormous amount of situations where it would be useful.
However, if it is possible or not, I don't know.
None of the tools an op has at his disposal is the ultimate tool that will stop all griefers, but all of them help.
What about a tool that notifies ops if a player has deleted 80% blocks and built 20%, so an op could at least watch them.
Or maybe 40 blocks in less than a minute. or something in that direction, so we can know if a player is going berserk underground where we cannot see him. Sometimes it is hard to keep track as an op.
Jul 26, 2009What would be kinda useful, would be a freeze admin command.Posted in: Suggestions
When used on griefers, they would be completely immobilized and unable to dig/build.
This way, an admin could freeze a griefer, or even all the players on a server, to kick several griefers before they got the time to do any more damage.
When oping, I have experienced that every second can cound because griefers can do tremendous amounts of damage with a flying/speedhack and autoclick on.
Jul 25, 2009Posted in: Alpha - Minecraft ServersQuote from Zuriki »You guys realise I started this whole debate for the luls right?
the other people are still being a hassle though.
It amazes me that people are STILL shocked at finding controversial content on the internets..
I mean, people have been joking about jews and **** for ages. Noone cares, except from on this forum it seems.
And god forbid, should you mention 9/11, are they going to be furious.
