Pressure plates only come in two material variations. If you want to set up a trap on something that isn't stone or wood, tripwire would be the way to go.

I don't think this issue is going to be resolved within the night guys, I'm really sorry.

I know it looks like I've dropped the ball on this one, and I sort of have; I recommended and purchased something that clearly isn't working as it was planned to.
But I've been running servers for 6 months, and this is way easier to run behind-the-seen wise(or it should be, at least) than some of the other ones I've run. For example; most of the other servers I've run had to deal with extensive 'class' systems that needed LOADS of ducktape on the back end permissions systems (I had to run at least 2 sperate systems to get EVERY plugin working as needed). Those servers all ran fine.

This one All I have to do is whitelist people, and add people to VIP lists. Not that hard, you'd think.

Unfortunately our expensive machine seems to be laggy as all hell, to the point where I can't even connect to the desktop to manage it anymore. I've sent my message of complaint to VPS land support; and now I'm asking for your support.

Don't leave us or consider us a shitty server because we're having issues right now; I'm 99% sure that none of it is due to a fault on our part. Don't think that this won't be fixed, no matter what, I will find a way to get this server running the way we planned it to.

Stick around and please be patient; this is just as stressful for us as it is for you(Maybe even more so for me, I'm helpless to get this thing running atm).

There is NOTHING about 1.8 that is going to change how you view Minecraft.

And before you mention a few things I know you'll bring up, let me go over them.

Leveling up and experience - Not required. Also, killing mobs (which is pretty much necessary) gives you experience

Hunger - You've pretty much always had to eat. For people who say peaceful, there will be tons of passive mobs you kill, and now all passive mobs except sheep drop food. Also, there might not even be hunger in peaceful. I don't think we know yet.

Endermen - They aren't going to ruin your creations. Not only are they going to avoid unnatural blocks, but I'm sure there are tons of other limits on them to. They are not overpowered. They do two and a half hearts and die in water.

Silverfish - Probably will be very easy to kill and will be as weak or weaker than spiders. Might scare you a little, but caving can be pretty scary already.

Larger biomes - How can you be angry at this? Whenever I like to build a huge thing in an area, it always takes up the entire area. For example, if you want to build a huge desert palace, it takes up the entire desert! Larger biomes certainly can't hurt.

NPC Villages - Just avoid them if you want. Jeb said that NPC villages are optional earlier. I don't know if it still applies now, but it probably will.

Huge Mushrooms - They may be ugly, but oh well. Just destroy every one you see if you really want.

Creative mode - Some people are spreading rumors that survival is going away or something. Wrong. Creative mode is completely optional, and will help me create redstone stuff a lot.

Anything I missed? I would love to discuss how they won't break Minecraft.
