I already said several times that I KNOW they get lots of messages, I'm just saying that I could reply to them all if given the chance, and I would expect a reply when the message contains information that is quite interesting.
You like the people with popular videos because they give quality videos. There role is to entertain you because they enjoy it. Ultimately they didn't do it to be famous as anyone who does it for fame alone typically flops. They do it because they enjoy making the videos. Although they appreciate the fact that people take time to send them messages they are more worried about the content. If they responded to everyone lets say 1000+ subs so about 500+ private messages a day. Including comments on their posts. They typically skim posts and read them and only respond to ones that really catch their eye. Their more important thing to focus on is their content rather than people. They didn't have people who followed them at the beginning it was just content so ultimately that is all that will ever matter.
And what exactly is it that you wanted me to say? Your statement was stated by others (in other words). Also, I am replying to this, so I stand firm in my plea.
I personally prefer to use "ignorance" rather than "stupidity", and if you do that, it fits perfectly.
Don't attribute this to them being evil, when this can easily be explained by them being ignorant of the existence of your message.
Look at the message you sent. If you look at the left side, you can see when everyone in the PM has last read the message. Under the name Sacheverell or whoever you sent the message to, does it say "Not read yet"? If so, it means they never saw it.
If it does show they have read it, look at the message you sent. Does your message require a response? If it was a question, yes. If it was you going "I would like you to look at X" or "I have been working hard on Y, please check it out", then no, it does not require a response.
If they have read the message, and your message does require response, then there is still other things you can attribute the lack of response to, other than malice. Maybe they meant to reply, but simply forgot?
There are many potential causes for nobody replying to you, please think of them before loudly proclaiming that "arrogant jerks" are ignoring you.
Lastly, please do not hold other people to standards that they did not choose and that you voluntarily set for yourself, such as replying to every message they receive.
Perhaps this is where we share a difference of opinion. If you ask a question I agree you expect a response. However when a request is sent, I still expect some kind of reply like a yes or no. Simply reading without responding leaves the sender guessing as to the outcome.
Having said that I believe that if one does not reply they must either a] not be a good person or b] have something against me personally. I tend to believe the latter as I cannot comprehend why someone wouldn't reply to something with potential. On top of all this, I actually encourage people to talk to me BECAUSE I will reply to them. Its a way of giving them hope, even if I cannot help. Does this mean I am better in any way? Certainly not, but it does mean that I WOULD reply if the situation were reversed, and the content I wish for them to explore is worthy of review, trust me.
So what is this about exactly? What makes this different from any other map, it looks kind of nice but you don't seem to tell us anything about this that would make it different then anything else on here.
This map is the continuation of Pandora: The Minecraft Story. This sequel continues where the first one left off, and both are geared at telling the back story of Minecraft itself, at least my version of it. I promise you it is worth a look.
Can the OP answer this question? I am waiting for an answer.
And I think the reason people make videos is to make people happy.
Well I didn't see you ask a question, but I assume you're asking how I think someone that has an agenda could or would reply to me. My answer is that I've been trying for years. This didn't happen yesterday and now I'm mad because nobody replied. YEARS and still no replies from anyone. So, answer me this' don't you think that's just a little odd?
That's not the point either. Athene should seek you out if you are good, not the other way around. Its the same principle of asking to join the mindcrack server. If you are good, guude will seek you out. You wont get in by asking.
We have already determined that popular people get lots of messages, maybe even more than they can read, so how would someone like Athene find me? It's much more likely if I send him a message, which I do and never get a reply. If I just waited around for someone to discover me I'd never get anywhere. I put myself out there and nobody responds. That's my whole point, how is it possible?
Instead of blaming everyone else, perhaps you should be looking at how you are presenting yourself...
I'll own that I perhaps shouldn't have called out everyone for my confusion, but its my frustration talking. I just don't get why people don't respond when presented with something worthwhile, not for me, but for them. I'm not a troll, spammer, or crazed fan. I'm a legitimate Minecraft player with 100s of videos and quality custom maps and music. I care about people and wish to show them what I have made, but no reply is extremely frustrating when you've been trying to get just one for many years. This isn't like playing the lottery, and if it is, someone should show us how to cheat.
Also, I'm not trying to start trouble, I'm just seeking an answer to a question I've been asking for years, and most people here are taking me for a whining noob that wants attention which could not be further from the truth.
Lets do some simple math here. The yogcast has about 3 million subscribers. Let's say that a third of them (1,000,000) decided to message at some time. It takes at least 10 seconds to even skim read and reply to a message. 10 seconds X 1,000,000 or 10 million seconds for all. That is roughly a third of a year. Do you really think people at that point in popularity can even possibly reply to that many messages? I haven't even included all the possible twitter, video comments, etc that they may have received.
Even though this calculation is based on a lot of assumptions, I agree that big channels and important people get many messages daily, but I seriously doubt its that much. My channel was getting 100,000 views per month at the beginning of 2011 and I received 10-12 messages daily (including spam). Replied to all of them. Every single one. I do this because I assume people grow their channel by connecting with others, and replying is a great way to show you are reading what people write to you. Its a form of care. Is it possible to grow by ignoring your fans?
He probably didn't message anyone. His videos are probably just good. If your videos were good, then they would attract subscribers. It is not the duty of the famous to carry the less successful to the top.
That's not the point. I don't want charity, I can make good videos just fine. My point is that I know if the right person took at look at what I have they'd promote it, not because they are obligated as a famous person, but because I believe it is good enough TO be promoted and they would want more views from it themselves. I can't even get in touch with Athene Wins and he promotes channels all the time! wtf?!
Op needs to get a life, people dont need to r6pely to messages if they dont need to, and have far better things to be doing. I am a youtube partner myself, but my life is not youtube and its not 'my job' to respond to any pms, just let videos collect ad money thats all. Besides I think your message are more spam, and you just want to advertise yourself, how in there right mind would respond to that? Its spam and a waste of time.
Please take your melow drama elsewhere Op, as this forum is about minecraft, not your invisble friends ignoring you on the internet. Good day.
Then tell me, o wise one, who did you message to get where you are?
Oh here we go... Look, everyone is bombarded with messages on youtube. My crappy videos have attracted 2 people to message me, one was an insult on some video I was flaming and another was one of those 'subscribe to me I subscribe to you!' spam messages. I ignored them and deleted both. In fact, it took me a while to get around to looking at my inbox since I really didn't care and was busy.
Now how do you think famous people like the yogscast react to it? Back when they only had 1 or 2 messages a week, they would at least have a look. Now their inbox is probably a forsaken zone.
I understand that not every message is necessarily a good one, and if I didn't reply to them all I'd have nothing to say, but I DO reply to them all and know that its not hard to do, even if the message is mean. What's your Youtube?
That's like saying my life is these forums. You are not the only one that keep throwing spam messages at them. Just be patient, make a few videos for your "popular" youtube channel, then wait for a response.
My YouTube is less popular than it should be BECAUSE people don't reply. If people even read the messages I sent to them I'd have a huge following. I can't reach anyone! For years I've been trying to just get a simple reply from some bigger names and they just won't reply back! I just want to know how other people get connected to them. Maybe its not a message, maybe they know someone who knows someone, but it isn't luck, that's ridiculous.
Well, I do, believe it or not, have about 3 hardcore fans out there who message me LITERALLY every hour of every day asking if I can play with them on their server, etc. I have gotten about like 5 skype requests to team with me, so I can imagine how it would be like to have these guys X1000... It would get ridiculous in all honesty...
If someone is spamming me and I'm not available I politely tell them. I understand it can get frustrating but at least a reply lets them know you are serious about growing your channel. Also, I subbed you.
Sometimes they have other better things to do rather than replying you
they might get hundreds of replies each day that it's impossible they prefer to spend their 1 hour a day to reply than to play MC atleast.
Well get used to it,his happens to everyone now get over it and find something better to do than making a pointless rant on MC forums
Let me tell you something. My original post clearly stated that I reply yo ALL messages I receive, no matter what they are. This means it is very possible to read through and reply to as many as you get.
There's only 2 reasons someone wouldn't reply. 1. They are too good for your puny message. 2. They have something personally against you. There's no other reason. Saying you're too busy when they do in fact send and receive messages all the time can only mean they are stuck up. Am I wrong? Prove it to me.
I doubt a popular Youtuber's priority isn't to answer to PMs. They have lives in the real world, you know.
Their life IS their YouTube/forum. Its what they do. They are checking comments and messages all day, yet mine have been overlooked for years, literally. I don't spam and am always polite and to the point, yet nothing ever comes back, even a no. I just want to know why or what is so hard about sending a quick reply back.
I want to take a moment to address my disgust with the entire Minecraft community. Is it so hard to reply to a message? I mean really? I send messages all the time to big names, Sachaverell, and others and not even a peep.
Now, I realize that these people have a lot of messages already and things to do, but NOTHING? Not even an acknowledgement of the message. I reply to ALL messages I receive on my YouTube channel, email, and where I post, as well as comments I receive, and while its a lot to do its hardly a burdon on me.
Can someone please explain to me why I seem to be the only person that cares to reply? I have some things that I really want to promote like my Minecraft custom supermap 'Pandora 2' and even if the answer is no, I'd at lease expect that in a REPLY. Saying no is better than completely ignoring me. It makes the person(s) I message seem like complete arrogant jerks that care about only themselves and their agenda, as important as it might be.
tl;dr
Why don't people reply to my messages? Can someone explain this? I'm baffled.
Can we have some Pictures of the map before we download?
Sorry about that, I know I put the video link in there, but apparently it vanished when I hit the post button *smh*. Anyway, the trailer should give you some good eye candy.
