Howdy. Long-time fan of the Mod. Recently getting a bit back into Minecraft, and noticed that a problem I had seen in 2015 persists to this day.
I have Minecraft 1.12.2 installed. Latest forge. Latest Optifine. Latest version of the mod. I have custom leaf textures in my pack. The problem is that Spruce and Acacia tree leaf blocks and foliage projections are always opaque, never transparent - as attached image shows.
Again, I've had this problem for years. Wondering if anything is known about it or whether there's a fix. Thanks so much for keeping this mod going, this is by far the best one out there.
EDIT: I'll also mention, the problem disappears if I take off Optifine. But no setting I can find in Optifine should have any bearing on the textures. Hmph.
My pack is already compatible with this mod (by the way, it's the resource pack maker's duty to do this, not the mod maker's.
Oh, look, another 16x16 texturepack that works with the mod...
Mine is 32x... The texturepacks you referenced (which are all 16x16) seem to work fine for custom grasses, but for some reason my textures won't appear, no matter what I do. Again, 32x32 textures. Any ideas?
Has anyone gotten texturepacks above 16x (preferably 32x) to display custom textures for grass?
Using this (either Ultra or Normal, same with both) with Forge 1180 -- for some reason acacia and spruce leaves are always opaque. Is this a bug? Any fix? I even tried making the "opaque" versions of the leaf textures have holes in it, but for some reason it doesn't matter. It's only those two leaf types. When I take out Optifine, no issues whatsoever.

I can't get my custom short grass textures to appear in the game using my texturepack, even though I have followed all the instructions correctly. The "better_grass_short_0.png" (and up to _12.png, etc.) grass files are FOR SURE in the right place in my texturepack's file structure (I've actually put them many places, in an attempt to get it working)... That does sound odd. I can't be sure what exactly is the issue, these things tend to work in mysterious ways. Perhaps you could try using my other NoSnow mod, and see if that helps... http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1728806-164-forge-nosnow-mod/
Otherwise, you may be forced to use one of the tools I identified in the original post to get rid of the snow / change the biomes. Sorry about that...
It seems that updating the mod is a no-go until MCP is updated, which will probably be when our computers are so advanced that Minecraft will no longer run on anything but an emulator.
Sometime in the next while I'll try updating the mod for 1.7.4, and also look into this issue - maybe I could make an adjustment to ensure it works with that version. I'll keep ya posted.
Owch: I installed this mod and I generated a new world, but it didnt work.
Off the top of my head, I would wonder if any of the following are the case:
- You may be using a different (newer) version of Forge or Minecraft that the mod doesn't work with. Notice the very old version it was made with in the description. I'm not sure I'll be able to update the mod until MCP is updated as well - so like, 10 years from now.
- The mod may be conflicting or being overridden by other mods you have installed, if any.
- You may not have installed it correctly.
- Jesus may not love you.
Question... do biomes -stay- as their biomes and just snow? Or does this change the biomes themselvs to one of the snow biomes?
Like if I go into a jungle it will still say it's a jungle biome, but just snowing?
You are correct. Basically, you can think of this mod as changing the climate of the entire world to "snowwy". Snow will fall when precipitation falls, and ice will grow all the time in water, but all biomes keep thier distinctive shapes, foliage (not the colours, though), and designs.
If you take the mod off, the temperatures and precipitation go back to normal. (But the snow doesn't seem to melt much at all.)
The current version is for 1.6.4 only. Previous versions (including 1.6.2) are available on the original post - look for the spoiler section/button in the downloads section.
