I've just spent the last few days building a chicken run for my twenty-six chickens and two ducks and walking a 5K (actually more like 7K! They didn't measure right. LOL) to raise money for hospice. So I haven't had much of a chance for texturing. Today though. Today is the day. As long as I get left alone long enough to actually do something!

And no, that picture isn't supposed to be there. D: It's actually credits for the pixel work. It showed up when they added the wither painting in the default pack. Before that the space wasn't used. It's on my major list of stuff to get done. (But I don't have a clue what to put there. I welcome ideas for new paintings/decorations!)

I'll uh... Keep my fingers crossed for... Ya know... Metallurgy and Twilight Forest. *cough, cough* *wink, wink* *nudge, nudge*

    I miss using Summerfields... A lot... :(

Which texturepacks have update/current Metallurgy support? I would like to spice up the look of my game a little, and I suck at texturing myself so...

By that I mean I had no idea where to put them, it was just a folder of random stuff, some where icons, some where mobs, some where armor. I think it should be better organised and instructions on to download them would be nice.

The Twilight Forest support is way out of date if I recall correctly. Even if you manage to stick it in the right place, you won't get too far.

I heard on the FTB Forums that Metallurgy 3 was *finally* out.

That would be incorrect. Sorry to have to inform you of this. :(

    Appreciate the info.

However, I can't bite my tongue on one point. Prioritizing update and work for a totally new, unknown mod over a massive, popular one which is vital for servers to update seems... I lack the word for it that doesn't come off insulting, as that's not my intent.

I'm aware mods are entirely free and voluntary of course, but you should also be aware of the responsibilities of commiting to work on major mods that others rely on, and the need to keep it up to date for use, else I dare argue you should pass on the reins to someone else/get someone else to help with the matter at hand.

It sounds arrogant and rude - it's not intended to be. But it is very frustrating when you're wasting precious money waiting for a mod you enjoy to update and holding up dozens upon dozens of players unable to play on their home while the author of said mod is more interested in their 'new toys'.

Anyways! I should just stop, as I can't word this right without sounding insulting/arrogant >.< I suppose I'm just too ingrained into the industry myself and expect standards where they won't exist. bad habit. :P

I mostly (mostly) agree with you. I have been meaning to say the same thing, but I have also had trouble with how to word it as well.

I think it would have been easier if RebelKeith had said something to the effect of "I don't want to burn myself out. I'm going to take a break for a few weeks and play around with Atum! Who knows? Maybe it will give me great ideas!"

You can argue that this is implied. You can argue that he shouldn't have to say that. You can argue that he has no obligation to continue this mod. That makes sense, but communication is nice!

My first thought when I heard about the 96 hour mod challenge was "Oh no." Not to sound like a jerk, but I had a feeling that this would happen, and I was very worried. RebelKeith seemed so dedicated to pushing for a solid release and getting the new stuff out for M3 that it makes sense that people are very disappointed when that didn't happen. He had a log on Google Docs to show his progress which he stopped very quickly. Along with that point comes the communication aspect again. It's just hard when there's such a focus shift and we are left with nearly nothing. We just don't know what's going on. Is he taking a break? For how long? Why can't he just build a stable release first?

Truly, I get it. No mod-makers have any obligation to the players. It just sucks! Sure, we have a beta release right now, but that doesn't even work right. My Minecraft takes about EIGHT minutes to load because of it. That's certainly the most annoying problem. Most mods add about 10 to 30 seconds of extra wait, but the latest testing version of Metallurgy is pretty screwed up. Not to mention that there are also various other major problems/bugs.

You can call me butthurt. Sure. Maybe I am. I just wish that I knew what was going on. If it's gonna take a while then I'm gonna go find a substitute. I love Metallurgy. A lot. It is BY FAR my favorite mod. So my game really does have a lot hinging on it... That's what makes it so unfortunate.

Please, RebelKeith, just let us know what's going on. I'm not angry or trying to be threatening or whatever. I just want to know what's going on. If anything, that should tell anyone who sees this that I genuinely care about this mod, and I hope that's enough to get some kind of response.

Oof, happy birthday, but B3 is... Well... I don't know what happened. I went from a constant and smooth 65 FPS to a stuttering and ever-changing range of 20-35 FPS.

My priorities look something like this:

    1. Golems/Nether
    2. Ranged Weapons/Armor/Tier 2 tools
    3. Traps, base defense <-- Bastion stuff here
    4. (Secret)

These don't fit anywhere because they'll be added as we go along
    - More modifiers
    - Mobs
    - Texture pack

The list shrinks every day I make things. It won't be too much longer before we get to the end of the road. When that happens... ;D

Where does the Metallurgy add-on fit on this list? Just curious!

I can't wait to be able to use it with Metallurgy! This mod is seriously awesome. Great job!

I know that it currently isn't compatible with Forge.

Will there ever be a forge version? This mod is absolutely brilliant and I would love to try it out! How does it work? Can the various additions be turned off/on in a config file?

    Hey, RebelKeith.

Are you still planning on working with Tinker's Construct or are you heading in the direction of Balkon's Weaponmod? Also... Do you plan on updating your Google spreadsheet? I'd love to see the progress that you're making!

    Thanks.

I just saw the Enchanter (as I just followed you on Twitter). Now hold up. This would make for the perfect reason to add gems. Duh! They could be an entire enchanting thing! You could even have a separate enchantment add-on like you do with the other metal packs. Certain gems could give you more specific enchantments, others would increase the level cap on enchantment, and others could be substitute for actual XP when it comes to enchanting. It would deviate away from the basic Metallurgy idea, but it would be so cool! You could even add in a few new enchantments too (if you aren't already planning on that).

Come on... Just think about it!

I think it fits well with the other ideas that have been mentioned above me. It would give the gems a purpose beyond decoration (which I would like anyway).

With all these gem ideas going around, I think it could be a really good idea. It could bring another use for the anvil as well. I would love to see anvils become a bigger part of Metallurgy. I like the anvil idea, and I think Metallurgy could use it for a few things. And, if done right, it could really be amazing.

One thing that I would REALLY like to be done is to make sure that all metals can be used for metal things like anvils, hoppers, etc. Well, any metal that is > or = iron. Even if it only makes one of that type. The problem is that with the way it is currently... It's so hard to make an anvil because I use all of the metal packs. I like all of the metals, but I also like all of the anvils. I'm not sure how big of a task that is, but I know it would certainly be much appreciated! Thank you!

Just making sure that my post got seen. This would be really useful! Thanks!

No, mods have to update for each release of minecraft (except minor ones if we're lucky).
I'm currently working on a rewrite/restructure of the Metallurgy code, it's close to being done, but I'm not sure if it will be done tomorrow. You can follow progress here

Ooh! Would you estimate that it will be done by Thursday? And what's with 3.1? A follow-up release? I can't wait for the new power core stuff, but I have no idea of what the drills and XP ore thing are...
