That's child's play. You need the big guns to bring out a giant rift. Like I said in the comment you quoted, I dumped 3 coal blocks worth of essentia into a crucible. After destroying a couple rifts (Which will appear one after another since the flux in the area is still present and huge) you should get a Primordial Pearl, but more likely the lesser versions of it. The bigger the rift, the bigger the chance of a pearl dropping.
How to make the infusion process stable? I already have on stabilizer up and running, simmetrical candles under the altar (around 50) and four up.
Stabilizing the Infusion process? Well from what I'm seeing, that's a singular stabilizer, not 5. You can have a maximum of 5 Stabilizers on the Infusion Matrix (since you can't beam it from below) and also have 5 Vis Generators on each Stabilizer, for a maximum of 25 Vis Generators.
To get started with Eldritch, I need a Void thing. What it is exactly? I already had scanned a Voidmetal sword, but that seems to not count. Also scanned the cultist and the portal, to no avail.
If you're asking about what's "native to the void", then you'll need to scan a void seed (Since you scanned a Void Metal Sword, which is made from Void Metal, which are made from Void Seeds, I'm guessing you did that in Creative Mode). Void Seeds are obtained from collapsing Flux rifts. This can be done with a Causality Collapser (Collapse a giant rift for a bigger chance at getting a Primordial Pearl btw). As for the research for the Causality Collapser...I dunno. Maybe Stabilization research + Scanning a Flux Rift for it's respective research?
I made an idea for an item in the form of an actual entry in the Thaumonomicon. I think I did it pretty good, but can't tell if I nailed the writing style (Because that's all Anazor's style of writing and not mine). This research will branch off from the Grappling Hook and also requires the research for Vis Batteries, the Arcane Levitator, and Vis Generators.
Sure grappling hooks are useful for getting around and reaching certain areas with ease, it's uses are only so practical and limited. A flying machine would be something that would prove extremely powerful and useful, but maybe a tad bit out of reach with my current knowledge. An attempt at this was made by slapping 2 Arcane Levitators onto a wooden plank and strapping it to my back. While I did indeed "fly", I was now suspended 10 blocks in the air with no good way to get down. I'll need a while to think about how I could extend my range of flight and control it. Nothing in this world seems to possess flight, and Blazes from the Nether are a completely different story. I've heard tales of a large dragon that live alongside the Endermen in their "home world". Perhaps their world holds the answer to flight?
>Discover a outlandish flying creature (Ender Dragon)
>Find an item that gives the ability to glide.
>2 Artiface Theories
Good news is that I found a portal to the Endermen's homeworld and was astounded by the dragon's presence. I also found an item called the Elytra, which allows me to travel in the air with extreme ease! Bad news is that the dragon is now dead, and I can't exactly study it without it attacking me. The Elytra also presents the problem of finite flight along with durability, causing you to fall out of the sky if the wings suddenly decide to give up. With these new discoveries, I'm going to experiment on a powerful new machine that will open the way to flight! It'll involve tinkering with already discovered items that hold similarities to flight and holding vis charges.
>Items: Vis Generator, Redstone Block, Vis Battery, Arcane Levitator, Elytra, Thaumium Plate
>2 Artiface Theories
I'm on the brink of a breakthrough, I just know it! Using the Vis Generators to draw vis from the aura while the Vis Batteries hold said charge, I can power a mechanicsm that uses the Elytra to mimic how the Ender Dragon uses it's own wings. Unfortunately, the Vis Batteries hold so little charge and this device can hold only 4. Alongside that, I seem to be depleting power faster than it charges, so it'll need time to recharge to at least half of its maximum vis storage. The Elytra, being used as the major part of the whole device, still has its durability issues and can even break apart the entire device. If not repaired with leather on a regular basis. If there was a more powerful metal out there I would be using it, but I suppose such a discovery will take its time to show.
>Some Infusion recipe with High Instability
Then you upgrade it with Void Metal! A Primordial Pearl will be enough to remove the need for Vis Batteries and hold a much bigger charge, while also depleting at a slower rate, but still enough to deplete more than it recharges. Fixing the durability issue on the Elytra requires a void metal outline so it won't break apart, so that's its own separate recipe. I think this balances out well because it takes up your chest slot and is unable to be enchanted (of course with all the ingredient needed for infusion), so you're giving up your most defensive armor piece for insane mobility.
This is something I came up with out of the blue and really loved putting out the idea in the form of a Thaumonomicon entry. It may be not 100% balanced, but I think I would love to see this in the base mod and not some addon. What do you all think?
I'd say by the time the next beta that introduces more Eldritch stuff, but then we hide the new stuff in spoiler tags, and keep the old already established Eldritch stuff free from spoilers.
The causality collapser closes a rift, but also adds a minute amount of flux to the atmosphere; if your flux is too high, that small amount is enough to overflow and cause another rift to form. In this case, the rift appears to grow each time.
In Beta17, Pearls can be obtained by collapsing rifts, which appears to have been changed.
EDIT: Actually after some light testing, motes and nodes can still be dropped rarely from closing rifts, possibly larger rifts?
I did some testing on your theory for larger rifts dropping them more. I made massive rifts by dumping 3 stacks of coal blocks into a crucible and shift right clicking it. Through just a couple rifts, I actually got a few Nodules. The bigger it is, the more Void Seeds and higher chance of a Primordial. However, I'm a bit afraid to do this in my survival world considering how much junk I had to dump. Maybe I'll just shove it someplace far away in the Nether. If that makes nodules, what insane amount of flux would make it viable for a full Primordial Pearl?
EDIT: Flux Rifts in the Nether actually spawn right at the lava. They can even find themselves in caves below the lava. Oh, and just 2 flux rifts collapsed in the Nether and I got my Pearl. Yay for Void Essentia Smeltery! I should also show off my base here soon, since it's been through a lot of different phases.
...You scan them. That's the thing you need to examine that's "native to the void". Unlock the Eldritch tab, and you'll discover how to make it into Void Metal. You'll need to unlock Alchemical Metallurgy to go into it, but I'm sure you've already done that. If it shows Stage 3/3 and you can't complete it (This is the case if you've "completed" that research in Beta 17 and updated to Beta 18+), turn on cheats and go /thaumcraft research @p METALLURGY.
I can tell you that's not what you need. I would look more into Flux Rifts. You probably don't want them sticking around for too long, and find a way to get rid of 'em.
I had the same thing happen to me, Shadow. I'd say a bug, as something similar happens to the Focus: Curse research. You need the Pech Wand in order to unlock it, but despite that, you can go into it anyways. This probably means any research that are linked to you finding and consuming an item are unlocked regardless. I would say a bug.
Going on a creative mode world and spamming the Causality Collapser on Flux Rifts that constantly spawn one after another leaded to no results. I'm seriously wondering how I got that Primordial Pearl...oh, and other than the Void Essentia Smeltery, are there any other currently obtainable Eldritch-locked research?
Does anyone know how to legitimately obtain a Primordial Pearl? Otherwise there isn't any way to craft the Void Essentia Smeltery. I remember I was in a creative world collapsing Flux Rifts for the fun of it, and at some point I obtained a Primordial Pearl from one. I don't know it was from collapsing it or if some item got thrown into there that turned it into a pearl or....yeah I don't know. Does anyone else have information on this? I would really love a Void Essentia Smeltery right about now.
Well after just a small bit of research, turns out I'm not supposed to have a Stage 3, and I had a Stage 3 only because of the previous beta. It's supposed to have 2 stages. Is there a command I can do to forcefully have myself learn a specific research?2 seconds later and I find the command. I should just stop posting so fast...
Ok, so I've found out how to unlock the Eldritch tab, got the special seed and scanned it, yada yada yada. However, I can't even go any further than that because I require the research "Alchemical Metallurgy"...which is currently Stage 3/3 with nothing saying how or that it can progress, other than it blinking. I believe this is because this is the stage where you would reach the chest that says "voidmetalresearch" and you would leave it there. But with that now removed, I don't see anything that can help me move on from there, so I can't complete it. Is this a bug, or intentional? I would imagine a bug.
If I could have one of those cultist portals spawn that would be just great. Out of 120 days in my survival world, I've encountered them once in a desert on Day 5 or so. Are there specific requirements for the portal to spawn or do you just keep praying it shows up randomly while you're adventuring?
Has anyone actually figured out how to get any infusions done that are past negligible without things popping all over the place yet, ive built my first stabilizer hoping id at least be able to get a minor infusion going to no avail. all i know is from the most recent pages here, 5 stabilzers is the new thing to do, candle layers dont work anymore and stabilization is handled differently, and no one seems to know what to do about it.
Oof. I've been having that same problem. I only have 4 Stabilizers instead of 5 right now, and I'm not even sure if the candles are doing anything at all as well. I've seen a couple people complain about the Infusion going haywire really quickly as well despite the stabilizers. Hell, the thing goes from Very Stable to Stable the INSTANT you start the infusion with stabilizers. I was lucky to even make the Brain in a Jar, and had more trouble crafting the Thaumium Fortress Armor. All we can do is wait in the next beta for these things to be adjusted accordingly.
