It'd be cool if you could burn it as well; if you use a flint and steel on it it'll burn from where you lit it and burn upwards till it reaches the top. As it burns the rope will turn to ashes and drop. It could be used as a way to stop people or mobs getting up to a vantage point if you feel you need to stop access.
This would be handy! It should have the ability to join your friends as well. A chat system like some people have mentioned would be good too along with a label telling you what they're playing, e.g. singleplayer or multiplayer, server, game mode, etc.
I love the ideas and your drawings! I really think Minecraft's combat needs a revamp like this to add a bit of variety, a bit of spice and make it more enjoyable. Full support
Nice idea! I'm all up for more variety in combat, as I think it's pretty bland how it is. What I'd also like to see is more attack animations, e.g. each time you swing your sword it's swung in a different direction, this would break up the repetative sword swing currently present. A combo system might also work well; each successive hit does more damage.
On top of this I'd also really like to see an RPG like damage indicator UI integrated into Minecraft where you can see health bars above enemies and the attack damage numbers appearing over enemies as you attack them, I think it really suits Minecraft; I've tried a mod for it. http://www.minecraft...age-amount-mod/ This UI could be optionally turned off if some people dont like it.
I like the idea! How about flinging flints? Yowch! And what about we finally add a use for gravel? You could put gravel into a crafting slot and you get stones! More variety of projectiles = more fun
Though I do like the idea... this isn't Mo' Creatures! These have been suggested before. I also don't like the idea of a boss being able to just spawn when you aren't ready. Sorry, but no support.
How about the mob bosses each have their own little fort or something that you have to get into to fight? That way you have something big to look for and they wont just be spawning randomly.
I think it'd add some much needed content Minecraft is looking for. Each boss could have their own specific drops, maybe special weapons and armor.
Love this idea. I've wanted this since paper was released as an item lol. It'd also be cool if you could draw on signs, make picture and text books with the ability to put them onto shelves as to make a book libary where you or others can pick them up and look at them.
I agree, being shot by a skeleton is one of the most annoying things happening to me in Minecraft. What's annoying is that you're knocked back by every arrow they hit you with and because they shoot them so fast you sometimes cant even get close enough to hit them with a sword before you die (depending on your health prior and what armor you have). To try and counteract that you'd think blocking would do you some good but not really; not only does it slow your walking speed but it doesn't even stop the knockback. So by that measue I think blocking needs to be tweaked to be more usefull.
If blocking is dampening the damage dealt I think it should in turn stop any knockback. It'd make a world of difference. You would finally be able to block arrows coming at you then go in for an attack more smoothely without all that painful knockback holding you back.
Despite having a change like this it'd still be nice to have the frequency and the accuracy of the arrows shot lowered. Badprenup's idea actually looks pretty promising.
...
Currently, their damage is based on difficulty, their attack speed is based on range, and their accuracy is constant. I suggest it be changed so that their accuracy is based on difficulty (also partially based on range, no matter what their coded accuracy is how far away you are effects your time to dodge), their attack speed is based on range, and their damage is based on attack speed.
Lets throw up some theoretical numbers:
Maximum Range (Detection): 16 Blocks
Maximum Range (Attacking): 10 Blocks
Base Accuracy: 60% (Easy), 70% (Normal), 80% (Hard)
Attack Speed (Maximum Attack Range): 1 Shot every 3 Seconds (.33 Shots per Second)
Attack Speed (<3 Blocks Away): 1 Shot every 1 Second (1 Shots per Second)
Damage (Maximum Attack Range): 5 HP (2.5 Hearts)
Damage (<3 Blocks Away): 2 HP (1 Heart)
With these numbers, the Skeleton still retains the buff it received in the recent update. It will fire faster if you get closer. However, the damage is no longer constant, it decreases as you get closer by approximately 1 HP every 3 Blocks. This is because it increases the fire rate as you get closer, so it doesn't have as much time to draw the bowstring. Here is a rough chart:
Blocks Away: Damage/Attack Speed/DPS
11+: 0/0/0 (It is too far away to attack)
10: 5/3/1.66
9: 4/2.75/1.45
8: 4/2.5/1.6
7: 4/2.25/1.77
6: 3/2/1.5
5: 3/1.75/1.77
4: 3/1.5/2
3: 3/1.25/2.4
2: 2/1/2
1: 2/1/2
0: 2/1/2
So as you can see from that chart, the minimum and maximum DPS are 1.45 and 2.4, respectively. The average DPS is 1.75, rounding up to 2. That means that on average, it would take 10 seconds to kill an unarmored player at full health who is just standing there. That also assumes that each shot would be a hit, so it would actually take longer to kill you on lower difficulties. That time, factoring in accuracy values I stated earlier, equates to:
That is a fairly long time for an AFK player, so what if we reduce their maximum attack speed to 1.5? I won't show the whole chart again but it would increase their average DPS to 2.5 (rounding up), and the time to kill an unarmored AFK player would be 8 seconds on 100% accuracy, so the longest time would be 11.2 Seconds (Easy Difficulty). That still seems like it would be too slow to me. But I just wasted my lunch break typing this so I'll find out what you guys think later.

I think it'd be cool if you could gain xp for doing quests as well like someone else said.

I agree with this and
this. It'd be nice to see the iron ladders freestanding.

I agree! I'll support if the gauntlets do extra damage. We could finally punch enemies while doing some decent damage.
